I walked over to the store for help, and one of the mechanics walked back over with me to take a look. Turns out it wasn't my battery that was dead, like I thought, but a belt had broken. He pulled out his flashlight and showed me everything that was wrong. While we waited for a tow truck, because my car wouldn't even start up, the staff was trying to figure out if any of them had a vehicle that could tow us over instead of us having to spend money on a tow of all of 50 yards. I told them that we were on a road trip, they pushed some non-emergency repairs back to make sure we could get on the road as fast as possible. They kept me informed every step of the way, even having me could out on the garage floor to see what work the mechanic was doing. Every single person was lovely. Shop did not officially open until 8:00 AM but one of the service techs opened the door. He told us they had lost power in the wee morning hours but would do what they could. And they did!
