Absolutely frustrated with Mavis Tire and their complete refusal to honor their tire warranty. I brought my AWD Mazda SUV in because of the tires I purchased a year ago has severe outer edge chopping that is causing a loud howling noise while driving, along with obvious feathering on the edges. Even the dealer confirmed the tires are defective and causing the noise. Instead of standing behind the warranty, Mavis Manager wants to replace only ONE tire on an AWD vehicle. Which we contacted corporate for help with the issue, we were told by the Manager of the store that we should hear something in a couple of days, so far after calling corporate and speaking with a few people, who blames the store management for not sending the correct tire information, it's been almost 3 months and nothing yet, still waiting for corporate to call. Anyone who understands AWD systems knows mismatched tread depth can cause drivability problems, pulling, and unnecessary stress on the drivetrain. Replacing just one tire is irresponsible. What made this even worse was hearing Kevin, the manager at the Joliet Mavis location, openly admit that "corporate just bounces people around and does the minimum if they do anything at all." That tells you everything you need to know about how this company treats customers after the sale. They were happy to take my money when I bought the tires, but when there's a legitimate warranty issue, suddenly they want to do the bare minimum and ignore the actual problem. Between the road noise, uneven wear, and poor customer service, I would never recommend Mavis Tire to anyone. Please let friends and family know to not go there. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere that actually stands behind their products and warranties. read more

Took my sons vehicle, and the guys in the back decided to take it for a joy ride and even had the balls to tell me they took it behind stores and went 70 miles an hour with it. The manager laughed and I was not happy. And to find out they have no licensed. This place is ghetto and higher anyone and everyone. I originally took my car to Belle tire and had what I thought was a leaky tire checked out. it took them almost 4 hours, but they they found nothing. The tire continued to leak. 100 percent would not recommend. I took my car here to get an oil change because I was in the area. I dealt with Kevin, the manager, who reminded me of a sleazy, slimy car salesman from the moment I walked in. Trying to sell me all kinds of other crap (I get that though, part of the job) He came to me in the middle of the oil change and told me my battery was bad and my breaks were completely shot. Asked me if I wanted to move forward with fixing that. I immediately said no because I know better and they've been scammy in the past. Also, I just bought the car a few months ago and I had no indicators or noise. He seemed irritated after that and told me they'd just finish the oil change. He then came to get me a bit later telling me "Your car is done. Come on." Which is a pretty rude and unprofessional way to speak to a customer. At this point I was irritated. He then gives me a price of $80 which I've never in my life paid for an oil change. I questioned the price and he told me that was the cheapest price I'd find in town I basically figured out that he had given me an upgraded oil change without telling me first and I never asked for that. I will give him this, he ended up cutting the price in half bc I was very upset at this point. The moral of this story is, I immediately took my car to have the battery tested and breaks checked by a trustworthy source. This guy told me both were in perfect condition. I'm fully aware that it's been a thing for a very long time for car places to scam people. Especially women, but this was the most horrible experience I've ever had going in for a simple oil change and I felt other people should know. Especially if you know nothing about cars. They are complete scammers and liars and I don't know who promoted Kevin to a manager but he is a very unpleasant, argumentative, condescending, completely unprofessional human. Should not be in customer service. This is the first yelp review I've ever done. That is how much they ticked me off today. I'd recommend Sooper Lube in Joliet. Those guys are quick and so honest. That being said for tires for my 2003 Corvette and after 6 estimates from Goodyear, Firestone, Just tires, Discount Tire, and Belle Tire it was James at Joliet Mavis that gave me the best deal for Continental tires. James is an enthusiastic young man that loves cars, he is willing to discount the front tires knowing I will be back for the more expensive rears. Dropped off my truck for new tires and repairs and it was a major mistake. I will never go here again. While I was there another customer was complaining about bad service and it turned into a completely unprofessional shouting match. I should have left then...but they were already under the hood. I spent $1800 dollars and didn't make it 30 miles without the caliper falling off of the rotor. The guy who did the work did not tighten the caliper bolts properly. Their sloppy and careless work on my brakes cost me an additional $200 to get fixed at Pep Boys because I could not drive truck back to Joliet. Nor would I trust them to get it right even the second time. This is basic simple car repair 101 and the work was not done right. There clearly is a problem here with either unqualified mechanics, sloppy work or a lack of integrity and honesty. Don't be deceived by any good reviews, this is not a trustworthy garage. I deeply regret getting my work done by them. I don't know who the owner of this place is, but they clearly need to do a better job at hiring and at at quality control. Few month ago had my work truck worked on, it ran for 5 or 6 miles and broke down again. Had it towed back and they tried and said it was too hard for them to diagnose, but long story short they offered a few oil changes to reimburse the tow charges but without writing... that where I went wrong. Went back today for the reimburse oil change I was promised, but he whole entire shop changed personnel. From the front desk to the mechanics... so they said they have no records of any of what I said Need less to say I will never be going back and not recommending them to anyone. Ever! I have to give a single start to write the review otherwise it would be zero. I went there a couple months back and got new tires, new spark plugs and new back brakes. My check engine light goes on and off every few days since the tune up, and they apparently never put back my lug lock fo ray tires, so when I went somewhere to get my front brakes done, they can't get my wheels off. Now I have to order a new lug key. Thanks a lot! Had been going to this location for years, but when Mavis bought them, the quality went way down. I have a camera inside my car so I can see what's going on at all times. I called to check on the status of my car, and the manager told me they were still working on it, but I could see that the car was just sitting outside and had been for about 90 minutes when they claimed they were "still working on it." Stopped in to the Mavis to get a new set of tires, thankfully the service team did a full check on the car and I ended up needing a battery as well. They also figured out a long time issue with my engine light, my radiator cover was cracked and so they replaced it. My son goes in after hitting a curb for an alignment. You tell him you'll do a full front end inspection. Sell him on an alignment because nothing is bent. You're right it's broken! Then you upsell him on a power steering flush but miss the fact his subframe is broke? If you can't see that break I would never recommend your shop to anyone. read more

Customer service, I called for information on getting Brembo brakes and was spoken to in such a condescending manner that I was surprised. He asked the size of the motor I tell him he then asks me 5.7, 6.2 or 6.4. How don't you know what size motor is in a scat pack, ok fine you work on cars but only brakes I get it. Then he tells me is AWD???? I understand that people may not know everything about a car but why speak to a customer like that and not know anything about it. I don't think I've ever seen an AWD scat pack with any motor other than a 6.4. He then asks me "what do you mean you messed up the rotor" again I told him disc and he asks how do I know... ITS SCARRED I DONT NEED TO BE A BRAKE TECH TO KNOW WHAT A DAMAGED DISC LOOKS LIKE. He then tells me unfortunately my brakes are going to cost $900... ok what's unfortunate? I took my car into Mavis after getting a flat. I called Mavis and a guy named Keven answered the phone and told me they could replace my tires and check my alignment. When I got there I was asked a plethora of technical questions about my car, the answers to which I did not know (what type of oil I use, technical things about the engine and breaks etc.). None of these questions pertained to my tires at all. I get a call back about an hour later from Keven. He tells me that I will need around $900 worth of repairs that need to be taken care of immediately. He said that my right shock was so bent that it was unsafe to drive with. Obviously I was skeptical and decided to just get my tires replaced and forego the extra work. Keven became confrontational and started telling me that I was making the wrong choice and gave me this weird and condescending lecture. He said "When you take shortcuts you get cut short". My car then sat in the garage for over an hour while no other cars were being serviced. I could see my car just sitting there not being worked on in the garage. When I asked Keven why it was taking so long, he told me they needed to fix the air conditioning in the garage before they could service my car. The whole time I was waiting, one of the other employees kept offering me "deals" where he would only charge me $750 to get my right shock fixed, all the while imploring me to stop taking shortcuts in life, giving me the same "take shortcuts get cut short" lecture. I just wanted to leave the damn store! I finally called an Uber to my home and my car was not done until later the next day. It took over a day to change two tires. read more
