We went to a different location but since this is a chain you still need to know. Mavis Tires & Brakes We've been to Mavis now for tires and brakes thinking they would be good because they seemed to be professional. Here's how it went: The Good: -- They are professional. Each interaction with the people was good. They are helpful, explain what they are doing, and answer all questions. -- The service is relatively fast. -- Waiting areas are pretty clean. -- Easy to schedule an appointment online. I got one for my brakes same day. -- Decent selection of tires. The Not So Good: -- Expensive -- Expensive -- Did I say expensive? Let me qualify this. -- Tires are about 50% more than a place like Walmart or Costco where you will get a similar product with no noticeable difference and similar warranty. -- I got my brakes (all 4 wheels) done about 2 years ago at a different shop for about $800. Mavis charged me $1100 for 2 wheels! -- you can go to auto zone and get all the parts they used for about $450 vs the $670 they charged me -- Labor is a set price for working on a set part. It is NOT per hour. $416 for labor that took a total of 1 hour and 20 minutes. To put this in perspective, that is the same as a junior airline captain. Bottom Line: We went to Mavis out of convenience and necessity. We will NOT be going back. Save your money and go someplace else. read more

My wife brought her car in for a concern of droning noise with right turns. Was told the car needed a wheel bearing and they quoted me the price over the phone. Great, told them to do the work and I'll pick the car up on Monday. Paid them, and when I left the car was making the exact same noise. Called back and at this time I was told that the car needed both wheel bearings and that i was we told this and I declined to do both. This was an absolute lie. This was the first time it was ever mentioned to me and was only told to me because I complained about the service. They said they can switch the bearing to the other side, picked the car up and still the exact same issue. Outside of tires I wouldn't recommend any form of service from this location. read more

I had a unique experience here because I was talked out of tires. The issue that I had with my car was a little odd because the root cause of my issue was the alignment. That caused my tires to wear in a very odd way, and very quickly. Rather than being sold a new set of tires, the technician took the time to look closely in my vehicle and recommend that I take my car elsewhere to get an alignment first, advising that New tires would only wear quickly and cost me more money overall. At the end of the day he was right and I was very appreciative for his professional advice. I highly recommend Mavis just based on that technician's integrity. read more

Mrs shequita greeted my very bubbles and told me that we can take a look just please give them about 25 minutes and it happen sooner than the time she status and she explained everything and also gave me subjects on what I could do. shout out to mavis on lake joy, by far the BEST experience i've had. i had no clue what was going wrong with my car but they quickly found the issue and resolved it in a timely manner. i didn't get any names but everyone was so nice i'll definitely be using this location for all my car needs! read more

Great experience for this 1st time customer.  I needed 2 new tires for my Nissan murano and after calling everywhere and getting quotes I called here and got the best deal.  Thanks to whoever answered the phone that day.  They must have heard the desperation in my voice because they gave me some additional discounts and got the price down to a reasonable price.  I was able to bring the vehicle in for same day service.  2 hr wait so I walked to the nearby movie theater and caught a movie.  Returned and waited out the final 30 mins in the store.  The store sitting area is spacious and clean.  They have an area with USB charging ports.  They have a water station and mounted flat screen TV.  Outside was a free air tire station.  . read more

My car battery died in a nearby parking lot and Jason (I believe that was his name) rose to the occasion and helped me get my car started, battery changed and back on the road. Traveling through Kathleen on I-75, I noticed that my car was rocking pretty bad (separated tire on the driver front side). It was coming up on 8:15 p.m and so I called the store to make sure they had a tire to fit my car, they did so I carefully drove my car the 10 miles to the shop. I get there and they change it and they were super nice about it even though it was 5-10 minutes from closing time. I start to leave and now notice the rocking is back, but this time from the back. I circle back around and talk to the tech and he noticed the tire on the passenger rear is becoming separated. He changes it without complaint even though it is now past closing time. These guys saved my butt 75 miles from home. Super professional and understanding of my situation. I'd recommend this place to anyone. read more

shaquitta the store manager is outstanding. As we both work in retail/ with the general public ... lord knows you have to be patient, calm and collective With a positive attitude. I can tell thats just part of her character. I hope you all are valuing her expertise and customer service. If not ..... we will recruit her the staff was friendly and did wonderful job as well. I'm expecting upper management /district manager/regional manager to be bending over backwards for their people as they do for us customers daily. You should be throwing pizza party's or buying lunch for them more often as well. Let me find out that's not so because my DM and Regional use to all the time for me ESPECIALLY when I'm clearly one of the best.. you know how great that would make me look if I recruited her to one of the biggest retailers in the world ? I had an in line reservation but when I went to the store they had no COVID protection. No plastic barriers, no SanitiZer stations and when I asked the lady at the resister to please put on her mask she said they were not requiring masks for employees. I told her that the lack of concern for my safety was disappointing and I canceled my reservation and went across the street to the Lake Joy Discount Tire Store where they had every civid precaution you could think of in place. Including mask wearing in the garage and a no touch no entry into your car option available. They all so price matched Marvis Tire. Please don't ship here. read more

Ordered tires here a few months back. Took it in to get them put on and was told they were on back order. No phone call to let us know. We live about 35 min away. Thought I'd give them another chance and set up a appointment for 1030 to get my truck aligned. We were getting ready to head out of town.Showed up and was told they were running 2 hrs behind. Again no phone call that morning before driving all the way in there. I had a few things to do so I told them I would just come back in a hr. Took it back and was told he would get it right in that another car was being pulled out right then. He said it should be done in 45 min. I walked over to the Mexican restaurant and ate. a Little over a hour later came back and my truck had not moved.by then it was 1and we wasted all morning. Our plans to go out of town had to be canceled since we wouldn't have had to have left by 1. Ended up taking it to express oil change and they were done in 45 min. Will never go back here again. I purchase tires form this store a year ago. I also purchased free rotations. On Saturday 5/5/19 I dropped off the car at 10:30 AM for an oil change and tire rotation . This is a fairly common thing for me to do here, but each time the wait got longer and longer. This day they said they were running behind and it would be 2:00 PM before they were done. I came back at 2:30 and they were still not done . 5+ hours for an oil change and tire rotation unacceptable. Manager told me I had a small leak in the shoulder of a tire and they could not patch it because of its location . He also said he could not find in the computer where I had purchased the tires and could not Honor the guarantee I had paid for. I told him to put the leaking tire back on my car and drove across the street to Discount and purchased a new tire. Manager did comp me the oil change (not the first time they had, other they put wrong oil in the car) but refused to do anything about the Tire . I will NEVER go there again . read more

Total joke of a business! Made a reservation on line for a set of tire and picked an appointment time of four o'clock on Friday afternoon. Get there and got check in with no mention of being behind. At five thirty I finally go in and ask about my appointment and I was told there where still four cars in front of mine. Why even do appointments? read more

Did a lot of research about the tires I wanted to put on my car. In the end, this store didn't have them in stock, so my option was to wait until the middle of next week or accept a different tire that they DID have. All in, right at $1000 by the time they pulled in old tire disposal fees and tire pressure monitor sensors, etc, none of which appeared on the online quote. Not an easy spread to cover for a retiree, but I was willing to bite the bullet. When they removed the old tires they "discovered" fluid leaking at the top of the front struts. Pull out another $500 plus or they won't cover the warranty. Oh really? A classic case of up-selling to maximize their profit. And dicking the customer in the orocess. Hope it was worth it to them because I WILL NOT be coming back, and I will be alerting my entire network to stay the hell away from this Kauffman Tire location. This has to be one of the worst experience EVER! I was a walked in and they had a sign that stated, they go by who gets here first even if you have a appointment. There was another lady before me who was waiting before and I was already there for two hours! All I needed was a oil change. Once I told the guy at the front desk that I was waiting over a hour he finally took my car to the back. They skipped me again and finished the service for the guy that came in 45 minutes after me!! No reason on this planet to take over 2.5 hrs to mount and balance 4 new tires with an alignment. Get better or more employees. This should be a 45 minute to 1 hr job MAX. I'm 50 plus yrs old and haven't touched a tire machine in 15 years and know for a fact I could do the job in that time or less. read more

Went there early as a walk in. Wanted to replace tires. While replacing tires they discovered I need shocks. Leaking hydraulic fluid. So I said go ahead. Spent 5 hours in that lobby. Told 20 more minutes about 3 times. Staff knew I was upset and didn't come into lobby for a while. Wouldn't make eye contact. Finally called my daughter to come pick me up. Worst customer service I've had in a long time. Made an appointment online, but when I showed up they had no record. Ok maybe something happened. Then they didn't have the tires in stock that the website said they did. That's when the attitude started. The website is never right can't get them till tomorrow. I decided to go with another brand and wait my turn as a walk in. I should have left. They said about 2 hours. 4 hours later I was on my third another 20 minutes. I had to get a ride to work because they were so slow and full of excuses. A "tire" place with 3 bays of mechanical work and only one guy doing tire installs. Tell the truth not a good day and the work will take all day. Never going back again, ever. read more

I went for a set of tires and an alignment. While they were doing this, they notified me, that I needed front brakes at $330. I said I would have to come back. After a few days, I took my vehicle to my regular mechanic. After my mechanic took the brakes apart, he called me and said that the brakes weren't even 1/2 wore out. I told him to go ahead and replace pads since it's apart, but keep old ones where I can go ask why. When I returned to Mathis and asked why they would do such a thing, he responded "You didn't do it, so there's no problem." I responded, that if I had done it, you were ripping me off, and you're probably doing it to other customers. He responded, "you didn't do it, I don't understand your problem, we are told to sell brakes if they measure a 4 on the depth grade." I asked for the depth gage, mine measured a 6, so even at a 4, you are just under 1/2 the life of the pads. This is a corrupt company and is selling unnecessary services. read more

I took some tires there LITERALLY just to dismount them from the rim, nothing hard at all. They have a machine to dismount the tires (which should make it even easier) and the guy using it didn't know what he was doing and broke the bead on one of the tires and claimed it was a "bad bead". They were almost brand new and now I have to spend $200 bucks to buy a new one. I urge you please not to go here because they WILL mess up your car... please please please just don't go here... read more

They have ZERO knowledge of the tire business. Only listens to what a computer tells them. I took my vehicle in to have tires rotated and balanced. They told me that the front tires had excessive wear on the inside and it was safer to leave them in place in stead of putting them on the back. One would think that the tires on the back would be put on the front so they could wear like the front ones. But I guess the computer know more than they do. read more

I wasted an hour waiting TRYING to get my tires rotated and balanced. They wouldn't put the tires on the back because they said it didn't have enough tread! There's plenty of tread left on the tires!! And when I went to leave I told them I'd be sure to give them a review on my experience, the mechanic had a nerve to make a smarta$$ comment!!
