RIP. OFF. i took my camaro to Mavis to get an oil change and fix my tire leak, and they charged me $170 for that(granted, my camaro is a V8 so the oil was more expensive). side note* we waited at this place for over three hours and there was only one person ahead of us, BUT mavis gave me a discount for the wait. they knocked off $40 so i paid $130 instead of $170! afterwards, Mavis told me i needed brake pads AND rotors for both the front and rear tires, and gave me an estimate of $533. i took my Camaro to R&E Tires, LLC in Citronelle because their estimate for all of that was only $420. today while they were working on it, they called and told me i don't even need rotors at all; i ONLY need front brake pads‍ i appreciate this honesty and will definitely be going to R&E in the future!!! they just called me again and my car is done in right over an hour. read more

Buyer beware! I recently purchased (3 sets of tires for 3 separate vehicles) from Mavis in SEMMES. I also purchased their insurance for the tires. My wife had a flat on her car. Took the tire to Mavis (SEMMES) in the bed of our truck. Young man looks into the bed, within seconds states; "Nope not our tire can't help you". I called Mavis. They confirmed I bought the tire through them, confirmed the insurance. So, I take the tire to Mavis SEMMES. Same young man starts writing up the work order. Stops in the middle of writing it up and goes to help someone that pulled in behind me. No they didn't have an appointment. Manager comes out states how many I help you? I said I need this tire pro rated and replaced, as the tire had separated, no punctures. Manager states"Your not going to talk to me like that. I don't have to service you!" After speaking with the regional manager about their rudeness and lack of customer service. He stated they would replace it. (That's why I had insurance). No comment for their rudeness or lack of customer service. Long story long. After being totally dismissed on my purchase. After all this. A few weeks of owning their tires and 2/32nds of wear. It cost me $87 to get Mavis SEMMES to honor my purchase and the purchase of their insurance. read more

Went in for a tire replacement. After 3 hours was told they needed to order the tire and were were given a laundry list of issues totally over 1,000. We then went after a second and third opinion and literally no one else could find ANY of the problems Mavis found. read more

If I could honestly give a negative number instead of a 1 I would. I'll start by saying I brought my car in this morning to get a Tpms checked because my lights been going off for sometime now. Scanned and found it had a bad dead sensor in the rear tire. I give them the "Go ahead" to replace it so I can finally get it to go off. What was only suppose to be a 15 minute trip turned into about 45 minutes to an hour! He comes back out and ask if I ever have an issue with my fob not working ( I told him no and that he literally just jumped in and pulled it back. He should know that) Jimmy the service manager come out again and says they are having an "issue" programming the new sensor because the "spare tire" need a sensor as well. (Mind you exactly 1 year and 2 weeks ago I had it done at pep boys in Saraland but on a different tire and had absolutely NO ISSUES programming it to my car.) I told them I couldn't afford that because I will probably never even use the spare. No sense in throwing money I don't have away like that knowing it's possible to program without it. So I told him I'll get a buddy who works at a dealership to check it out and if not see if pep boys could get it programmed AGAIN!! Well neither had any luck because all scanners are different and the tpms sensor they installed was different than what their computer could pick up and program. So I return back and ask if they could just go ahead and install it in the spare. Go outside to get my car and the hood is sitting higher on the passenger side so I asked if they left something under it. He pops the hood and they didn't install a trim piece correctly and he tried to lay it back in place and it wouldn't go down because the top to the windshield wipe fluid holder is stuck under the plastic so he fixes it finally. (At this point my sugar has already started dropped and I was ready to get this nightmare over.) jimmy comes out and says that they can't because it's not a full size spare tire. But yet 30/45 minutes ago you just tried to sell me a sensor for the wheel with no hesitation because you knew it would fix the problem. Smh. Well I asked for a refund because obviously y'all didn't fix the problem I came in for and that's when his attitude flipped from being nice and Courteous to snobby and extremely rude and me being disabled I felt like I was in a very hostile situation. Told me he couldn't do anything with the sensor because it's already programmed to my car. I told him it didn't fix the problem I came in for either so I'm paying you for an incomplete job you never fixed. Told the other worker to "give him the key for that car" and the guy told him he didn't have it I did. So I said I have my key and gave it to him and he quickly and rudely pulled my car in and heard him in the back telling the guys to just throw a regular valve stem in so he can get out of her. There's other people in the lobby. He comes back in and picks up the phone and proceeds to tell the customer on the line " yeah my day was good but it just got turned upside down." Pshhhh like it's my fault. Ok buddy. I finally got my refund and suppose to be back on my car within 7 business days but I also contacted corporate as well. The greasy hand prints on my car also wasn't there when I went in this morning because I cleaned my car 2 days Prior and got it waxed! That's disgusting and now I'm spending EVEN MORE MONEY TO GO GET IT WASHED AND WAXED AGAIN. THANKS JIMMY AND THE LOUSY CREW AT MAVIS. Needless to say my dude at pep boys in Saraland (Brandon) fixed me up right and had no issues at all. In and out within 30 minutes tops! I've never spoken to any regional manager at all. I've been waiting for 2 day to speak with someone. read more

I don't typically post bashing a company or airing drama but I want to warn everyone. DO NOT go to Mavis on Moffett rd. Jimmy, the store manager, is anything but a professional. They do not stand behind their warranties and will blame you when you try to fulfill the warranty. We've had our tires on our truck for less than a month when one blew today. The manager saw a scuff on the hubcap and said it was from hitting a curb. (It blew driving down airport blvd.) He refused to warranty it and argued with me about how it happened. I bought another tire and asked for my old tire back for Jason to take to another Mavis store to look at it. The manager refused. He said he heard me on the phone "bad mouthing" them and was having an investigator come look at my tire. He said he could not have someone making them look bad. I own this tire and it's my property ,but he refused to give it to me because he heard me talking to my mom on the phone. The new tire that I purchased was also sprayed with oil and not properly mounted or weighted. Apparently if you make the manager mad, they will purposely mess up your tires. The weights came off just from moving it from the back of my van to Jason's truck. The backside that was placed facedown in my car had been covered in oil to purposely causes a mess in the van. I would not suggest them to anyone. I would give them zero stars if I could! read more

Had my vehicle in for new tires and found out I also needed rear brake pads. Service techs did an outstanding job, treated my car as if it was their own. Fast and courteous service from both the sales staff as well as the technicians. Well pleased and will definitely use them for future services. read more

I went in for an alignment and one tire. Guy told me it was going to be about an hour hour and half max. There was only 2 people ahead of me. My car is as still sitting in the parking lot after I been there for 2 hours haven't even checked on it yet. There excuse was them at the district manager was there. That had nothing to do with me I was told it was an hour job and it ended up being 6 hours that I was there. If the district manager cared about his business he should make sure customers are being taken care of instead of having meeting while customers are trying to get taken care of. Not one apology or nothing. I got there at 8:30 am and I didn't not leave until after 1. Never again! read more

Oh how I wish I could give a zero as my review!! Never did I expect to be a victim of predatory sales when purchasing a basic product like tires. It amazes me that a tire that's 6 months old and defective won't be replaced by Mavis. I know things are hard on businesses right now but there has to be a better way to make money. I use this place for all tire and mechanical maintenance. I've been coming here since it was still a Trax Tires. Apparently most of the staff have turned over and there is new management. They are a lot slower and disorganized. I came in for 2 tires to be replaced, and an alignment, and have been here (so far) for 3.5 hours. Still here. *Update* I forgot to update this at the time. After that long wait, it was determined that they didn't actually order, so obviously didn't ship, my tires. All that time wasted, I had to call around town to multiple shops since my tire size isn't very popular. read more

I dropped off a spare trailer tire at 8:30am. Had a nail, needed a repair. They said it would take a couple of hours. I returned at 3:00pm. They had not touched my tire. I asked for my tire back, to take it somewhere else. The mechanic rolled out someone else's tire. I had to go in the shop and show them which tire was mine. Totally unacceptable. I will never go back, nor do I recommend them. read more

Least likely to help someone out in a bind. Took my car in a few months ago had the tires rotated and balanced and an oil change. Took all afternoon and was not ready when I went back to pick it up. They stripped the oil pan plug and acted like it was like that already . Took me a month to get it to stop leaking. Went in today with a flat tire(side wall damage). They refused to put a tire I already had on the the rim. " we can only mount brand new tires". I've never heard of a tire shop that would not mount a good tire on a rim. So much for having a "brand name" tire store in the neighborhood. NOT GOOD NEIGHBORS. read more

I needed a new tire badly. Mine was worn down and had a leak. It was Friday near the end of a business day. I called this place and talked to a guy who said he would fit me in that day and that he had a tire for $120. I get there and it's a different guy behind the counter who looks at me like I'm crazy when I told him what this other guy told me. He tells me he has a tire for $140 to sell me and that the one that the other guy told me wasn't in stock. So I agreed to it because I'm already there and need a tire. I sit down for about ten minutes only for the guy to come tell me that he doesn't have the tire or any tire that size in stock. Are they trying to be awful? I expect better than that from Walmart. read more

It use to be one of my more trusted places to take my vehicles but since the management change, not so much. My last experience was the the tipping point. I dropped off my car at 0630 for an "Early Bird" drop off in order to hopefully get my care back early. I had called the previous day but you get a main number not the individual shop. I was told I did not need an appointment just simply bring the car in, hence the early bird drop off. When I dropped my keys in the Dropbox, I found there were no envelopes to describe the services I needed (a brake job). I figured once they got my car, they would simply pull up the records on my car and call me. At 0930, I had still had not heard from anyone. I drive up to find all the bays full and my car still sitting in the parking lot. I got pissed at this moment and I later had to apologize. The manager did not seemed concerned in the least and stated I should have called for an appointment (pissed). I asked for keys and was going to call it a day, lesson learned that the Tire Engineers in Semmes is no longer to be used by myself. Spencer (I believe that was young man's name) convinced me to allow them to address it immediately. He is the only reason they received 2 stars. Poor customer service, management that does not care. read more

Ever since they switched from trax tires service is slow as a snail and awful. I went in for a simple tire rotation and balance, tell me why I can't get my car until 3 or 4 in the afternoon when I came in at 11AM!?!?!?!? Ridiculous, our 5 cars will be going ANYWHERE else for tires for now on. You need new technicians. Badly. used to be in and out in 30 minutes at the most. read more

Once Tobey left this store and it became Mavis, it has gone downhill rapidly. I took my car in for an oil change this morning. I figured it would take a while, since it's a Saturday before a 3-day weekend. I got a call from them outlining what else needed to be replaced: front brake pads and rotors, rear brake pads, plus the always-needed air filter and wipers. I got the rear pads replaced since my front pads and rotors were replaced 11 months ago at the same store. At least I have a warranty on them if it's truly necessary. When my car's finished and I drive away, I saw that the "Maintenance Required" light was still on. This is the second time this has happened. It may not be a big thing, but if they can't pay attention to details like that, then what else did they miss? When I got home, I found out what else they missed. My car was making a deeper, louder noise on the way home. I popped the hood and found the air filter cover was not put on. It was in the vicinity, but was not latched down and kind of askew. I could see the filter, and it was pretty clean, since it was replaced three months ago. I had to attach the cover and reset the light. This time, a loose air filter cover and unset light aren't big deals, but it does indicate a lack of attention to detail. It could have been the master cylinder cap left off, or an oil drain plug not properly secured. I'll go back to get a free brake job, but after that I'm done. read more

We had our Truck fixed in a manner of about an our. I don't know the technician name., but he was just as excellent. Arrived at store just wanting to get 2 tires changed and that's all. Was told it would be 2 hours max and I would be back on the road. Long story short I ending up sitting in the lobby for 8 hours and was told I needed a new battery, new shocks, and all new tires. Told manager I just wanted tires and he was rude and must've put me to the back of the list afterwards because my truck sat there taken apart for the rest of the day. He was also very rude to his employees in front of customers. He wouldn't have a job anywhere if it was up to me. If you want honest work done in a decent amount of time Do not go here! read more

Disappointed in the appearance of the office personnel and the appearance of the building. Bathroom dirty with no paper towels. Floors are filthy! I realize this is a tire business but pride should be taken in the appearance of the building and in the personnel just as if it were a high class jewelry store. And personnel should not tell you to go to a place they formerly worked for in order for you to get what you need for free, i.e. nitrogen for my tires because their machine has been down for almost 2 weeks and they have no idea when it may be up and running again. Since Toby left the business here in Semmes, the place has gone down hill in a hurry. Crying shame because it use to be a place I was okay sending my wife to by herself but now I don't want her going in there because of the filth and the overall atmosphere. read more

I went in for an oil change and tire balance and rotation. Had used them once before since they bought Trax Tires. I will not use them again as they told me I needed front brakes, drum cleaning and rear shocks. Needless to say I did not let them do anything other than oil change and tire rotation and balance. Took my car today to another place and guess what I didn't need front brake job or rear shocks. Will defiantly not go back to this company since they are in business to do repairs that actually don't need doing. read more
