So the small attic space would cost $2,873.81 and the whole house would have been $3,450.45??????? The salesman came to the house took measurements and created an invoice . I paid the amount the company wanted up front. I made the appointment. Unfortunately I wasn't here for the actual spraying. Their person told my caretaker that he wouldn't recommend spraying one southern exterior wall because it had a wood skirting on the outside. So needless to say, that wall didn't not get done! Regardless of what the contractor thought. He was paid to do a job of all four exterior walls and sill plates! He had the invoice that stated such. If there was a question he could have called! I have requested either this company subtract one wall from the price they quoted me or come back and finish the job. they refused to subtract any money from the quote and they also refused to come back out and spray the wall that didn't get done unless I paid them again for another wall. This company also threaten to put a lien on my home if I didn't pay the remainder of the balance. so needless to say I was stuck in a hard place and decided to pay in full or take them to court possibly lose and have to pay their attorney fees and such. It turns out a lot of pipes froze that night, because no one had any techs available. The best I could get from mist was a promise to have someone call me in the morning. Josh from Holmes, though, called me back immediately. He helped me stop the water that was flowing out of the burst valve, made sure I had some emergency heat, then scheduled me for first thing in the morning after he finished with his next client. He fixed the problem and even made some improvements to make my system a bit more resilient going forward. He was there all day, so I was expecting an astronomical bill since I had called in an emergency basis. I was pleasantly surprised to see the price was very reasonable. I had actually made that exact repair myself 5 years earlier (Josh said it was a quality issue with the valve and not my handiwork that lead to this failure, and I choose to believe him), so I know the going rate for the valves he used, and I know what the labor was like to install it. They charged a fair markup for the parts and a competitive hourly rate for the labor. And of course, Josh did the work a heck of a lot faster than I did back in 2021. I'm very pleased with the service and the quality of work. I'll definitely be calling Holmes the next time I need any HVAC work done.
