I had a shellac manicure done and the technician ruined my nails by severely damaging my cuticles. Now the doctor said that my nails will not grow back normally. It was a bad experience and the tech that worked on my nails was very rough and didn't listen to what I had to say. read more

Well the is hard. My pedicure was nice, that was a different appointment/different day. This was my manicure. I get dip and the quality, not great. They cut my cuticle that I was bleeding a bit and the final product? Not awesome. Very disappointing. They have a nice enough staff however my nail tech, when paying, told me that it was not my color and then laughed. So mediocre final product and not an entirely good end result. read more

I recommend this salon IF you can find a technician that won't injure you. Unfortunately every time I've gotten a manicure (natural nails - have had both dip and gel) I've gotten injured by either the nail file or the Dremel-type tool. The most recent injury (with just a simple nail file) actually broke the skin. The technician barely acknowledged it and proceeded with dipping, etc. Hopefully I won't end up with an infection from the experience! Very disappointing. read more

This was my first experience here and I'm not super pleased with the longevity of my manicure. I paid $45 for a shellac manicure, and within a week the polish was chipped and looked very dull and worn down. I've had shellac done many times before and it usually lasts at least 2-3 weeks before chipping. I also had major hangnails the next day which typically doesn't happen. The overall vibe of the salon was a little awkward- nearly silent save for quiet ambient music. The salon itself is very clean and nice. read more

I've loved coming here with my grandmother for a few years and I keep coming back to give them another try, but I am consistently disappointed. I'm disappointed by the outcome of my acrylic nails, where they cut my cuticle (leaving it bleeding), and did not do a very good paint job. There was also some kind of residue leftover (in photo) around my cuticle that won't come off ? The photo I showed her of what I wanted did not match what she did, and the tips are see-through which is a big bummer. I'm pretty bummed that I had to pay full price for these acrylic nails after they clipped my cuticle and I did not get what I was asking for. I have had a pedicure done here recently and they do not do anything in the way of getting rid of callouses. They were training somebody and showing him how to do everything on my feet, and they really only did the bare minimum. You will probably get more of a complete pedicure somewhere else. read more

Do NOT go here! I made 2 appointments at the same time for my friend and I as a Mother's Day treat. They did us one at a time, used what looked like a cheese grater to remove dead skin & left me bleeding, didn't offer us water like they did to other clients, switched technicians in the middle of my friend's pedicure & didn't acknowledge it & were just downright complacent. Once they were done no one ever came back to ask us to pay or tell us we were done, etc. And, I never saw them open the cheese grater from a package so not sure if it was sterilized. All around awful experience! read more

I never leave reviews. Ever. But this place ruined my nails. The lady doing my nails rushed through them, did not pay any attention to detail or even my reference picture I showed her. The nails were sooo thick THEY HURT AND THROBBED all night and each nail was going a separate direction, I had to hand file them all the way down just so I can sleep. Not only that but they OVERCHARGED me. I had to pay way more than what I was told or even what the price sheet said. We tried to call back for a refund or for Max to help and fix our nails because we live far but all we got was attitude and NO HELP AT ALL. All he said was that he won't give us a refund, he won't fix our nails, and he won't do our nails again. Horrible service. Don't even deserve 1 star. Do not go here. read more

Not coming back to get my nails done there anymore. I did my nails a few time there was "ok" yesterday I went to get my nails done and David made my appointment when I came back I told him I wanted to get my nails done with him, he said ok after he finishes with the lady he was doing then after he finishes he just left without tell me anything that he couldn't do my nails, the girl came to ask me if I wanted to come back Tomorrow just rude the way they do things. I get a manicure done with the same girl that did my pedi. She is nice and sweet my pedi was ok but my meni was just wasted of money. Coming back today to them remove it. read more

Got asked to leave because I politely requested that my completely crooked tip be fixed. Me: "Oh this one was a little crooked" Male nail tech: "oh I'll fix it with filing after powder" Me to myself: hmmm that's not really how it works but I guess he's the professional Me: " uhhh okay if you really think so" Male nail tech after nail is still crooked: "well what do you think?" Me: " it's still pretty crooked" Male nail tech : "WELL IDK WHAT YOU EXPECT ME TO DO" Me:" well it's too late now I guess it's fine." Him: "it'll be free you can go now" Proceeds to kick me out when I wasn't even frustrated I just wanted simple white nails. Didn't even paint them or anything. Absolute worst experience I've ever had. I always leave a huge tip and usually go to this amazing girl in Gresham that makes perfect nails. SHOUT OUT TO PEWPEW NAILS on insta. But decided to give a closer option a try and as always huge mistake. I'm such a shy and non confrontational person. This is the only nail salon I trust to do my nails right. 90% of the nail techs I've had do such a great job. Kelly is so friendly and skilled. And the younger gentleman, I left today with literally PERFECT nails. He always makes sure to check all angles to see that my nails are smooth and shaped well. Anytime anyone complains about their work, they're just nitpicking every tiny thing they can. Keep up the great work guys! read more

Very disappointed in the service that was given to my teenage daughter today. They made her wait 20 min when she had an appointment the same time as me. The male tech dismissed the length she wanted and said "they would break" and continued to make them shorter. Then another tech stepped in to paint them, no cuticle care or hand massage. When one thumb nail was dramatically shorter than the other they didn't want to fix it, just shorten the other one to match. I had to tell them it needed to be redone and they basically left my daughter in tears for how they treated her. It's the same price for a teenager as an adult and they need to respect and listen to what the customer wants, regardless of age. Bad customer service. My last review here was 5 stars and this IS a 5 star nail salon but this review is specifically for Julie who really needs to not work here... Julie Cut my nails without asking me. She then accuse me of being wrong multiple times when in reality there's nothing to be wrong about because I asked her simply what I would like to have done to my nails. She told me that she would not paint my nails the color that I asked her to and chose a different color for me. She was very passive aggressive and every time I would look at my phone she would yank my hand over to her. She kept telling me to not touch my nails which I was not doing in the first place. Julie is rude and brings down the caliber of this five star nail salon. read more

I wanted to like this place, blocks from my house, new set up with great chairs and aesthetic. I booked appointments for myself and my two daughters for pedicures. We each had a Deluxe spa pedicure, and we each had totally different experiences. My eldest and I each had uninterested technicians who did the minimum, and handled or feet like sides of beef. Neither did the same steps, both wouldn't engage in conversation beyond, asking what service, and asking me to pay ( for all three, before we were done) My youngest hit the jackpot, she got the technician who was personable, and cared about her client. Her pedicures ended 10 mins after ours and was thorough.... I was less than impressed:( Back to my regular spot, it is worth the drive as I get a good pedicure/ manicure and a pleasant technician. read more

**WC** Well that's too bad...I wanted to try to go back here for a pedicure because they used bowls which seemed to be removable last time I was there. I am now temporarily in a wheelchair for an unknown amount of months and cannot stand or walk. I called and was rudely told that they could not help me with my pedicure at all. I was hoping I could even pay extra to just sit in my chair and have one of the techs help me but nope. I have been amazed at how over the top helpful most businesses have been with my disability so this made me pretty sad. **And then the owner leaves a nasty note on my latest review claiming my review is "not true"...apparently I have some vendetta against his nail salon? Very rushed and not efficient and customer service is not great Ive been here twice, the first time I went I got a pedicure and a full set customer service was not bad and the nails were great a young man did my nails. This last time I went the service was ok as well but as you can see the nails look very rushed and not good at all the lady that did my nails this time was younger and very friendly however she did not compare the nail length so one hand is longer than the other, she also didn't ask me what shape I wanted and from the looks of it the nail polishes look very old. The nails are bubbly and have a bumpy texture. This isn't the worse manicure I've had but definitely one of my least favorites. Probably will not be returning. read more

I normally see Eric who's amazing but he's on vacation. I tried a new person today for my dip nails and it was horrible. She was going so fast that she ran off my nails 4 times with the electronic file onto my skin and the 4th time caused my thumb to bleed. Another employee came over and said it hurts because your nails are so long. Nope! I've been going here for two years and never had a problem. She was going too fast. I won't be going back to her again. I was hesitant to post this but I don't like the way it was handled. Clearly my thumb was bleeding! They both saw. Just wanted to make sure someone else doesn't have this happened to them. read more

I got a full acrylic set and they turned out lumpy, the art I got done looks like it was done by a child and they didn't even push my cuticles back?? I have been getting my nails done for over 20 years. However over the last 5 years I've noticed , regardless of where I go, my nails lift very easily. ( sometimes the first set last but after that the lifting starts) . A full set of acrylic nails might last 5-7 days. Nails start lifting within a few days. Therefore I had given up and started just buying the glue on nails from walgreens. After about a year of doing that I noticed the glue was destroying my already fragile nail beds. I decided to look online to somewhere close to me and found Max salon. Furthermore lucked out with getting Nikki as my nail tech. This is the first time in years that not a single nail has lifted! I'm on my third fill and I couldn't be happier. Pedicure's are also great here! I highly recommend. read more

I wrote a review for Max Nails at their original location 3-4 years ago, but I wanted to update, since I just went to their new second location in Mercato Grove, not far from their first location. It is beautiful! The pedicure room was separated from the rest of the nail salon, which was relaxing. They had very nice massage chairs, a bigger variety of shellac polish to choose from, good music playing, and the decor was very fun, with vines and fairy lights on the ceiling in the pedi room. Loved the vibe! I went with the express pedicure as I only had an hour break from work, and I saw Anna. She was efficient, gave a great leg massage, and I was in and out in 40 minutes, which I appreciated being short on time. The price seems about on par for nail salons in the area. I loved my experience and will be back to this location soon! read more

Went here for the first time, only because I couldn't make it to my regular place. The owner was rude, and was insulting my daughter while working on her. He would ask her questions and she didn't know the answer to about her nails. And made her feel like an idiot for not knowing the answers. The girl I had was very nice and even funny. Her work was ok, she made my cuticle bleed however and my nails hurt and are tender now. I honestly don't know if I will ever go here again. read more

My daughter and I both visited Max Nails today for a dip manicure. My daughter had two different nail technicians which was obviously a scheduling oversight. My technician was clearly new and had no social skills. She repeatedly nicked my fingers and cuticles with the power nail drill/sanding tool. I asked her several times to slow down. After she cut her own gloves twice with the power nail drill she decided to remove her gloves. I asked her to stop and requested another employee/technician/manager finish my nails. The "fixer" looked at my nails and said he knew right away something was wrong with the work performed. My fingertips hurt so bad and I had already wasted 1.5 hours there. I stood up and said that I was done for the day. I will not be going back to Max Nails. read more

Always make a reservation!!!! And be patient, they're popular and busy. But it's worth it. First off, Max Nails doesn't smell overwhelming like chemicals like most nail salons do. Also, they also have hundreds of shellac and dipping powder options! I've been going here for years and can say I have never had a bad technician or experience. My nails always look great and my dip powder lasts minimum 3 weeks until I need a fill. read more

Max's new nail/waxing salon is spot on! He has done a fantastic job achieving a very relaxing environment. The decor feel is modern and sleek with a hint of urban loft. Established in 2015.

I have been in the nails business since 1998. Over time , i have had 3 nails salon. At my last store, feedback from my clientele pointed out that cleanliness and service were important. I have built Max Nails to respond to to those demands. The sanitation of the store and the equipment is an ongoing task done everyday. As for the service, i had a few bumps and mistakes for the first few months after the opening in May. It was not easy to find good nails technician. However, i have a good staff now. I'm proud of them for doing the best they can on every client. Please bring your business to us, and i hope that you will have a good time at Max Nails .

I thought it would take a miracle to get me out of that headspace, but Libby got me so relaxed I fell asleep... twice. She has the most nurturing, calming vibe and her technique is spot on. She checks in the perfect amount without taking you out of your zen. All of her products left my skin feeling totally nourished and smelled amazing. I am so bummed I don't live in Portland - I would go every week if I could!!!

First time in my life it was so bad that I didn't even tip and I have no guilt over it. Person #1 came to remove polish from my dip nails. She was nice. No name badge so you don't know their names. Next this feisty madame running the place comes and says we do your toes. Okay!!! But it's someone else. I can tell she's new and has no clue what to do. I sit and put my foot in the bowl. NOOOO you can't do that? What?? They have to put a shower cap in the bowl. What an experience, having your foot in a plastic garbage bag. I'm nervously watching her as they keep coming and telling her what to do. She asks if I want my nails shorter, she clips them and has no clue how to file. At this point I just wanted to leave. As he's painting my toes with her hand shaking she has no idea how to put the light over my toes. As she shoves it against my toes I can feel all the colors scraping off. She had no clue. She only realized it when she went to switch it to the other foot, quickly filed and tried to fill that section with blobs of color. End product is uneven toes with top coat and color spillage. My toes will have to be redone. While toes are being woke d l the salon madame comes and says we do your nails now! Wtf don't I get to enjoy my pedicure! She starts doing my dip manicure, and she dipped maybe in color 2x. The color looks nothing like the rich color I picked. Start to finish less than 30 minutes. All different shapes and lengths and a color that looks like sh!t. No resemblance to the color I picked out. So I threw away 110 dollars and will have to have them redone elsewhere. To put it in perspective at my normal place this is a 2.5 hour job. Lastly, I didn't see any of the tools be sanitized they take out one file from one machine and put it back in this container. Again stay far away from this place it deserves zero stars.

Pedi was on Thursday night and this dirt was never taken care of.

She asked me for pics of my hair and inspo pics. I sent my hair now and older cuts had. Also a few inspo/goal pics. Then I text her to confirm the appointment and checked to make sure she felt comfortable with short blended styles. (not a lot of stylists do these days) and then she said that because she's never cut my hair that she couldn't get it "perfect", and immediately cancelled my appointment without another word. It was very strange and rude. I never said she had to cut it "perfect". I said the inspo pic was perfect. So odd. Anyway, guess I dodged a bullet.
