Here's my review from last year on the other location: I could tell by looking at the photos and reviews on Yelp that this place was going to be wonderful. Thankfully, when we finally gave it a shot, we were not disappointed. Talk about made fresh. Everything was so delicious and freshly prepared. Flavors were spot on. The service was fantastic. They always made sure that our drinks were filled and we had everything that we needed. My absolute favorite dish was the fried green beans with minced pork. Get it with extra minced pork and you'll love it. The steamed dumplings and pancake appetizer are also really good. Highly recommend! They also have clean restrooms with an extra large sink outside the restroom area so you can quickly wash your hands if you don't actually need to use the restroom. Pretty cool. We can't wait to go back for more!

However, I've now been here half a dozen times (every time I visit Springfield) and I can say that most of what I've had has been extremely authentic, especially the spicy stuff! Corner 21 isn't perfect and a few of the dishes fell flat, but you won't find anything better in town. The first time I visited St. Louis, I had amazing Chinese food,but I still wasn't expecting this level here in Springfield. I've actually walked past Corner 21 multiple times and kept going to the restaurant across the street... yeah, big mistake. The food here is legit Northeastern Chinese cuisine, super authentic, not watered down, and full of flavor. Everything we ordered was spot on, and the dishes came out pretty quickly too. For context, I grew up in Asia and have lived in California for 25 years, so I'm pretty selective when it comes to Chinese food. This place easily holds up even compared to spots in LA. Service was great. Our server, Allen (天宇), was friendly, attentive, and just easy to talk to. It felt welcoming without being over the top, which I really appreciated. The space itself is clean, nicely set up, and has a comfortable vibe. And I have to say the milk tea was ridiculously good. I've been drinking boba since I was a kid, and this one really stood out. Even my coworkers (who aren't Asian) loved everything, which says a lot. Didn't expect to find something this authentic in the Midwest, but here we are. Definitely coming back.

The cumin lamb is always a hit as well as the duck. I visit Springfield often and look forward to working my way through this menu. It reminds me of the Chinese food I can find along Olive Boulevard in an hour version of Chinatown in St. Louis. My family that is migrated to Springfield from St. Louis are super happy with this restaurant and apparently everyone else in Springfield is too because the place is always jampacked. Congratulations to them! They moved from their original location on Sunshine and are thriving here on Republic in the shiny new location (formerly the failed Sugarfire franchise, ironically from STL).

I used Uber Eats to find the highest rated spot in the area and was happy to see they had one of my go to meals, Roast Pork Egg Foo Young. I ordered the combination dinner which comes with Fried Rice and an Egg Roll. I had a sweet tooth and gave their Almond Cookies a try as well. The order arrived fast and fresh, thanks to my delivery driver Jeffery. The portions were very generous, the food was hot and very tasty. I'd say it's one of the better Egg Foo Young's and Sauces I've had from a Chinese restaurant. The Fried Rice was fresh and the Egg Roll was well stuffed, crispy and had a great taste. For dessert I had Almond Cookies, they were the perfect sweetness to top off a good meal. My fortune cookie fortune was fitting for the week of business meetings I was conducting. Overall it was just what I was looking for a stay in dinner. I'd check out China King on West Republic Road again next time I'm craving Chinese in Springfield.
