Went there for an Event that was held in the hall. The atmosphere is amazing, beautiful location for a venue overlooking the Mohawk River. The appetizers were amazing, great meatballs, chicken & pastas. I had the Prime Rib for dinner which was cooked to perfection. My only issue was the "Instant Mashed Potatoes"! I was told that the meal there was approximately $150 a plate, and to provide such an excellent meal with instant potato's for that price is uncalled for. So, this review is really hard to write. The food was amazing, but the oysters also gave me food poisoning and I spent the evening being ill. With that being said, consuming raw shellfish always carries the risk and I truly don't blame the restaurant. The wait staff is slow but kind. We watched young busboys do terrible jobs cleaning. One tried to take our plate mid bite then sat there and anticipated our last bite. These things happen with summer jobs. We laughed so hard. The outdoor patio in the shade is a nice calm place to eat. Much preferred to inside. We saw a bald eagle hunting in the river. Make a reservation. The food was fantastic. The risotto was perfectly cooked. The food was flavorful. It was so good that despite not feeling well from the oysters, I would definitely return! My husband and I were going out for date night we were trying to decide where to go and I found a gift card for Max410 so instead of going to our usual places we decided to try. Bonus with having little kids and coordinating a babysitter it's great that you can make a resy online. Arrived at 530 pm on Friday night for our reservation and the parking lot was full. Ended up having to park in the back on gravel not the best for my heels I was wearing. The hostess was outside and upon check in gave us the choice between outside or inside, it was okay out so opted for outdoors. Once seated we did wait a little while for our waitress to come over and greet us. I ordered a signature cocktail: Waters Edge Cosmo, my husband ordered a manhattan. Drinks came in a timely fashion, we ordered apps: the wedge salad and bacon wrapped scallops/shrimp (see pics). Both were good, nothing incredible about either dish. For dinner a medium rare filet, blue cheese garlic butter for an add on and a lobster roll sub fries. You did have a choice if you want the lobster roll hot or cold. But to sub fries was $4, the dish normally comes with mac salad interesting. I had to take off a star for this; secondly disappointed that you had no choice of sides when you order a steak it was automatically whatever they have tonight which was carrots/greens beans and mashed red potatoes. Dinner came out timely, but pretty disappointed with the blue cheese garlic butter add on that was $3, that wasn't even melted (see pic). The dish had one carrot, which was hard couldn't cut it with a fork, barely with a knife, green beans lacked flavor. Overall the steak was ok, but I guess I expected differently. Hubby liked the lobster roll says it was good, had a couple claws in it (see pics). Halfway through dinner it started raining, we were under the awning so it didn't matter to us, until the other tables that were once spread out were moved closer inside the awning so the guests weren't getting wet which made it tight. Unfortunately our table was right in between the two awnings meeting and it started raining through the crack. I'm still wondering what this business is "known" for. Possibly just the view of the river and or being able to sit outside or dock your boat to have a bite to eat. We had lamb lollipops for an appetizer. Delicious! My husband ordered a Ribeye medium rare. The first one came out well done. They did replace it without any issues. He said it was done perfectly the second time. The manager came over to check on it and brought him a free beverage as well. I had the seafood bake. I thought it was a bit overdone but absolutely delicious! Their lemon italian cake we had for dessert was to die for. Ate every bite! We had a nice table by the window which gave us a nice view of the river. The place was full, so it was noisy but you could still hold a conversation. Recently I dined with friends at this establishment. Our dinner reservation was for 5:30 pm. When companion and I arrived our side of the table was in the sun. I then asked the waitress to move us two tables over so our entire party could be in the shade. Her response was "the sun should go down shortly " so I sat at the original table with my sunglasses on for 35 minutes until that happened. That should have been my clue to leave but we were there for a birthday celebration and I didn't want to dampen the mood for the guest of honor. In addition to the rude waitress, I unfortunately ordered the prime rib special which was a disappointment also. The baked potato was served cold with melted cheese that had solidified and was hidden by a blob of sour cream. There are other nicer restaurants with a view of the river. I write this review with a heavy heart. The Waters Edge has been a staple for us for decades. The food was always top notch and the view made you forget you were in Schenectady and not on vacation. This last time I went I told my spouse I would bring work trips here because it is so incredible; however, I am afraid that no longer rings true. First let me preface that the staff was all very nice and the service was great. I think the fault lies in the management and quality, let me explain. When arriving everything looked a bit run down. A large portion of the light bulbs were out in the hanging lights, the tables and chairs were worn down, and overall the patio has seen better days. The best I could describe it was tired. The food was also very lackluster and not nearly the quality cuisine it formally was. I ordered the seared tuna, which I can't say was ahi tuna because of the amount of tendons through the steak that made it very chewy. Also, there was no sear. It was breaded and what appeared to be tossed in either a deep frier or a low heat pan. My spouse ordered the seafood risotto. The former risotto recipe was her favorite and when she noticed it was redone and a new recipe she decided to try it. The risotto was some of the least flavorful risotto I have ever tried. You know that Disney world taste, that lacks even a modicum of salt or flavor. That was this...except for corn. For some reason the dominant flavor in a risotto of lobster and scallops was corn. I've never seen my wife not finish the seafood in her dish until that night. Finally we ordered cheesecake for dessert. The middle was great and the peach topping quieter good, yet the edges had the taste of the freezer as if it sat for too long. To conclude, I won't not come back to the Waters Edge, but I'll try some new places first and for sure order some different entrees. read more

Summer is waning fast. Friend and I decided to enjoy lunch on the patio overlooking the Mohawk River. As long as you're under cover of an umbrella, it wasn't too hot to eat outside. (Inside only had one window table available hence our sitting outside. Also, inside tables are quite close to each other.) I was told that the Waters Edge has been refurbed over the past few years to becoming a lovely place to enjoy dining alfresco. Also of note, a Homewood Suites was built a few years ago to adjoin the restaurant. So many options from appetizers to main dishes. I chose out of the many options, a flatbread pizza - a shrimp scampi flatbread no less. Crust was crispy and delicious. A very large shrimp was strategically placed mid slice so you could enjoy a bite of shrimp with each bite you took. Unfortunately, I was unable to finish the pizza and took it home for the next day. (Yes, it reheated beautifully.) Friend had a chicken flatbread; was told it was very good too. Because we came for lunch a bit later, we were able to enjoy the patio for a number of hours. My fiancé went out for a date night here. I wasn't sure what to expect besides the reviews. This place is a lot more casual that I thought. It was a loud dining room on a Friday evening. It is also attached to a hotel, which I wasn't expecting. I did call for a reservation the day before, however they never wrote it down. We were seated right away, but we were pushed to the back near the kitchen, seated at an uncomfortable table which was usually suited for the patio, but fixed with a tablecloth on top. The food was all pretty good, nothing to really complain about. I started with clams which were a decent size and tasty, my fiancé got some garlic parm fries which were crisp but clearly not house made. The reheated frozen bread rolls were served in a basket with plastic containers of whipped butter. My fiancé still ate them right up. I opted for the prime rib, which was an absolute steal at $28 for the king cut. You had no choice of sides, it was a cheddar mash with asparagus. Disappointed with no offering of a baked potato. The prime rib was nice and rare, however not very rich with flavor. The mushrooms on top were added without cost, but also added very little flavor to the dish. The au jus was pretty salty but added good flavor to the dish. Overall it was ok, but I guess I was expected a different experience over all. My fiancé ordered chicken parm with Alfredo pasta on the side, we just don't love red sauce. He enjoyed it but it held no candle to homemade or other amazing parms we've had around. It was pretty basic. The bottle of wine I got was cheap in comparison to other restaurants, the meals were cheap, I also got carrot cake which I ate the next day. It was actually really good! Our meal of 2 apps, 2 entrees, a bottle of wine, a dessert and a coke was only $100. That is enough for me to consider coming back. I would request to sit as far away from the kitchen as possible. If we were seated in the dining room, away from the 60" tv and the noisy kitchen, maybe this review would be a bit more solid. read more

First, 5 stars for the nice patio seating under an attractive enormous tarp/canopy that could withstand the wind if necessary. Tables were spaced so that we were able to carry on a conversation in a normal voice. Food was 5 stars but only based on the two luncheon food items we ordered, a very small sampling, I know. Had lunch on Friday, September 10, with five colleagues who are also retired. The Restaurant opens at noon, but we arrived a few minutes early to wait in line for an outside table. We were told that we would not be seated until the entire party was present. We did not want to eat inside the restaurant on such a beautiful day and because of Covid concerns. Four of us selected the Friday lunch special of a grilled Scallops Roll with Parmesan Fries. The sea scallops were grilled to perfection and served with a sauce, arugula, and red onion in a toasted New England style bun. It was delicious, and the fries were hot and crispy as they should be. Another friend ordered the Cobb Salad with Ranch Dressing; it was large, attractive, and packed with Cobb ingredients such as a perfectly sliced medium size avocado & boiled egg. She added Fried Tofu to her salad order. Every morsel of food was eaten, and we passed on dessert but ordered coffees. Our server was friendly and informative. Service was prompt because we ordered quickly since every table had diners seated. We enjoyed watching the yachts move along on the adjacent Mohawk River. Several Monarch Butterflies flew just beyond the railing. We checked out the nice 9-11 Memorial that was built in 2007 next to the restaurant by the owners with pieces from the crash. read more

This is a beautiful spot to eat right along the river. We'd been here before under previous ownership. I tried the price fix choose three items dinner: Caesar salad, blackened salmon, and strawberry layer cake. Hubby got a house salad, the ribeye with rosemary jus with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans and roasted carrots. He also enjoyed a Manhattan and a glass of WA state cab. The waitress was very sweet and very attentive and professional. The food was extremely generous in portion and delicious. The salads were real standouts and nicely plated on rectangular dishes. I had my hopes up for the salmon with bourbon sauce that had been on the website menu, but the version that was offered with a Chipotle créma was still pretty good! Also, I love a place that serves fresh not institutional desserts and their strawberry vanilla layer cake tasted like homemade. The best waterfront restaurant in the Capital District. Since the new restaurateur has taken over this establishment it has been completely transformed into an excellent place to dine on the water. The food preparation and presentation has been changed by two new professional cooks, and the drinks have always been excellent, but the selection has been updated. Ask Greg, he'll get you a fantastic drink? The new staff has been professionally trained and are very good in taking care of your needs. One drawback I didn't care for was not being seated because the third member of our party had not yet arrived. Other than that, all was GREAT! Kudos must be given to the previous owner who purchased and built at this location, although not having the experience of a restaurateur. Had the pleasure to dine here on Nov 18 for a friend's birthday. I am in a wheelchair but staff assisted me inside to meet other guests at the bar. Our bartender was Sandra. She was such a breath of fresh air. She was busy but never missed a beat taking care of our group with both efficiency and friendliness. We all agreed that we were tempted to have dinner at the bar because she was such a pleasure to be around. For dinner, Arianna waited on us and, she too, was a wonderful server. We had several questons and special requests and she clearly knew the menu well and guided us to the best choices. Our appetizers were delicious and the entres were perfect, The food was served hot and everything we tried was beautifully plated. Both Sandra and Arianna are great assets to your restaurant. They really made our experience memorable. We have been to your lounge/bar area a few times before but the male brtender was so stiff and robotic that we felt like we were imposing by ordering drinks.
