The word on the street was that Karen Golden was the person you went to if you were coming into this from a place of trauma and the street wasn't kidding. If you're kind of a hot mess, you won't find a more compassionate person. She's not judgy, she's not unkind, and she makes the process of ripping your pubic hair out of your body as not-awful as it possibly could be. The room is clean and smells nice. Her assistant Lara is also as kind as can be. She takes cash or checks and everyone is understanding if you don't come by on the regular or have to cancel at the last minute (I disappear for months at a time: my income ain't what it used to be) but if you can only go to one place for the rest of your life for waxing, this is where you should go. She's the best.

Instead of using a single swift pull, this technician (Sheila) used a series of small pulls, which I believe led to the sores. But I'm not sure about that. What I can say is that I'm in my mid-50s, have been waxing for decades, and have never been left with sores/scabs. So this issue is distinct to this visit to EWC in Brookline, MA (and I've been to several others in the area). Additionally troubling is that I wrote a note to EWC stating the above to no avail, even offering to send them photos that I'd taken. Not only did no one contact me, I know they received my complaint because I got a follow-up survey inquiring as to my satisfaction regarding the efficacy of their follow-up. Incredible! You can't make this stuff up. I've even checked Junk, thinking "surely not, surely *someone* would have written back; maybe it went into the Spam folder." Nope. Non. Nada. Anyway, the woman at the front desk was lovely, friendly, chatty, and very welcoming. Despite that, unless I want more scabs, returning to this EWC seems unwise and so I won't.

BEST DECISION I made!! Irina is the BEST! You tel her what you want and she does exactly what you ask for and more! She takes her time and makes sure that every lash is handled with care and is FULL! An hour and a half is nothing when you realize how beautiful your lashes will look and how they last for 4 weeks! That's the amazing part, they last for 4 weeks AND they offer discounts if you book on either a Monday or Tuesday! Lashes are very expensive as it is but this place is very reasonable and the discounts on those 2 days definitely make a difference. I recommend going to MaxiLash! You will have no regrets! I have been going here since June and I absolutely LOVE it! I have gone to both Tiffany and camryn in the past and I have never once had a bad experience. For this Yelp post I want to talk about the most recent experience I had with Tiffany. My appointment with Tiffany every 2-3 weeks is what makes my month! She's super personable and takes complete interest in not only doing a good job on her client, but also really getting to know them on a personal level. We talk about which books we're reading, boys, our future weeks plans, basically making my 45 min-1 hour fill go by in a blink of an eye. If you are looking for a lash place that is reasonably priced, then you need to go here! The one hour every couple weeks beats taking ~15 minutes every day doing my lashes (not including the time it takes to remove my makeup at night) I can never go back to not having eye lash extensions ever!!!! I had a great experience at Maxilash! They were helpful during all steps of the process, from the initial phone call to book the appointment to meeting with the eyelash technician. I had never done eyelashes before and the whole staff made me feel comfortable and answered all my questions. They even walked me through photos of various eyelash types on their Instagram account to get a better sense of what I really wanted. Irina was my eyelash specialist, and she did an amazing job. From a logistics standpoint, this boutique is on point. If they have to move your appointment they give you a weeks notice, every single stylist is always on time, I have seen 3 different ones. Their work is the same quality and they all use the same lashes, so if your particular artist is out sick or on holidays you can easily see a different artist and get the same look. I have very sensitive eyes and the glue they use works for me, minimal redness, and its gone a few hours after the appointment. If you want the lashes to last, do not get them wet within 24 hours, it really makes a difference. read more

First of all I didn't know that they did men's lashes. I was curious. What would they do? Extensions!! I got them done. She asked me what lengths I wanted and told her I want it to look natural. She was so gentle with her hands that I fell asleep. She made sure that I was comfortable, I was actually a bit cold, she gave me a blanket. The place was very clean and professional. Lashes are expensive anywhere you go but if you follow them on insta or facebook or even when you go to book they have discounts sometimes and really share them out there so it's hard to miss! Monday's and tuesday's you get $10-$40 off, which is awesome for how expensive they are! The artists i've met are super nice and professional, ask you how you are and what you need and are gentle while doing your lashes. I love this place! read more

This was my first experience getting lashes. Camryn did my full set. I am in LOVE! She did a great job, and was super nice and gentle. I've gotten so many compliments. And it's so true that a set of lashes can make you feel so much better! It's like you wake up pretty ;) Lash extensions are pricey, but... I can understand why! At first, they make you really feel beautiful. You receive a ton of positive feedback and you're obsessed. Naturally, you go for the two week fill-in, and decide it'll be a summer fling. Luckily, time goes by, and you eventually accept your natural lashes once again, and eventually feel pretty without your extensions. You go back to your drugstore mascara, and your real-life relationship will thank you for it. P.s- it is true. Robin is really, really pushy and does not accept "no" for an answer. I was very specific about what I wanted and told the spa tech Amy that I was looking for natural hybrid lashes. She gave me Mega Volume Lashes which I absolutely hate. They are too long and too thick and stiff. The brow lamination came out great but lasted only a week, when it should last at least 4-5 weeks. Needless to say it was a complete disaster and was not worth $400. I will be going back to my previous place. They are ALOT cheaper and do a much better job. Now I understand why Emera Lash had plenty of openings and my other spa was fully booked. Not sure how this place has 5 stars when it doesn't even deserve 1.

She is patient, professional, personable (we always chit chat throughout the appointment), and has always provided me with fantastic service. As a fitness professional who sweats A LOT, it's really hard to find a lash expert that can keep me looking awesome for two weeks at a time -- but Katie makes it happen. She has even offered me tips and tricks to help my lashes last longer as I tend to get them wet more often than your average client. On the off chance I have a heavy shedding week (YES, lashes shed just like the hair on your head), she always squeezes me in for a one week update so that I'm looking fresh. I have referred several friends and clients to Katie as well, and will continue to do so! I can't recommend her enough.
