It was my first time here at Maxim Nails and Spa, and Lam made me feel welcome and comfortable right when I walked in. The atmosphere and energy is nice, clean and welcoming. And I love how they have a variety of nail colors to choose from. I came in for dip powder manicure and basic pedicure. They didn't have my all time favorite go to color but Lam took the time to help me find one just as close to it and I ended up loving the color! I got dip powder manicure by Lam and he went above and beyond to take care of me. He made sure I was happy with the shape, style and color. I can be a little picky on the shape of my nails but Lam listened to what I wanted and never hesitated with any of my requests. He is very attentive and made sure everything was to my liking. Lam is very sweet, patient and kind; not pushy at all with other services. He is very professional and did an AMAZING job on my manicure! Coco was my tech that did my pedicure. She is quiet but oh so sweet and friendly! She spent the extra time to cut my cuticle and remove the excessive callus on my feet (I have a lot, I'm on my feet all day, lol). Coco is very attentive and really made me feel cared for. She did a wonderful job on my pedicure! Now my feet are so soft and smooth to touch! I'm not from the area but i was staying the weekend at my boyfriends. My daughter and i found the place because we like the Kolache Bar next door. WELL.... the lady that did my pedi didn't speak much English but that is no biggie to me. I had shellac on my toes from the last pedi i had so i guess she didn't understand me when i told her that. Come to find out she didn't even attempt to take my shellac off. SHE JUST PAINTED OVER IT! who does that? I spent over $60 on just my pedi for her to just paint over old polish! November 22, 2016 I was contacted by the tech who I had the issue with, Angie, who profusely apologized for the whole situation. She let me know that the manager has since left and that the owner wanted the issue resolved. They agreed to refund the services I was unhappy with, even though it was outside the refund dates. We also discussed ways for them to improve customer service and she was very open to suggestions. While I will not be a client going forward and as disappointed as I am that it had to go as far as it did, I'm impressed that they stepped back, looked at the situation as a whole and ultimately decided to resolve the issue and promise to make the necessary changes. She seemed genuinely sorry and was very kind when I picked up my refund, as awkward situation as it was. November 10, 2016 This is my plea to you: DO NOT VISIT THIS SALON!!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!! Incredibly enough, the "attempt" to resolve the issues in my previous review ended with whoever is representing the salon insinuating that I'm a liar and that the picture I posted was absolutely not the service I'm claiming to have received. The nail salon I pleaded to in order to fix Maxim's mistake can vouch for it. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had with any business of any kind. I am making a formal complaint to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to make sure all of their techs are in compliance with the laws of the State of Texas. I am making a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau with regard to the unacceptable allegation that I'm lying about my complain and the complete disregard for the damage they have done to my nails. Also, with regard to the insinuation that the video evidence they have supposedly "prove" that I'm not being honest, which would most certainly prove that I am. I am also making a formal complaint to the Harris County Health Department with regard to the unsanitary practice of reusing tools and solutions that have come in contact with human pathogens, specifically blood. This is the last place you want to visit. I have spent over a month now trying to be polite, but after my last visit I cannot care for the feelings of a business who has complete disregard for mine. Posted November 04, 2016 I won't be coming back. It's such a shame that after 2 years of being a faithful customer and referring your business to everyone I know in the area, that my experience with your salon ends like I've been to some filthy hole in the wall instead of the amazing place you used to be. Two awful sets of acrylics and a lot of cuts on a lot of fingers, and now, after giving you guys $60 more dollars for a gel set and wax, not including tip, and MORE bleeding fingers, I have to deal with this. A week after your "resolution" of the prior sets, my first finger developed a pocket right in the middle between gel and nail. I had to glue it down and paint over it. It finally popped off today so now my nails again look like overpaid crap. The excuse that your tools and that acrylics just look bad is as sorry as your customer service. I'd come in a complain some more but it definitely falls on deaf ears. I don't know if ownership has changed or what, but I have never been a difficult client. I tip well and am always nice. I did not appreciate being argued with last time over and over. You have a guy solving problems who comes over amd says he never know how the french tip was done with gel. Seriously? That is who is resolving issues, someone who doesnr even know what y'all do? My nails look worse than before, unbelievably enough, and are destroyed. Better figure out what's going wrong, you are on the wrong Road in Houston to for subpar products and customer service. Tell whoever ran things before I said thanks for the two years. read more

I'm ONLY giving two stars because Tammy really took her time to ensure I was satisfied. I rushed in to get an acrylic fill two days ago. They closed at 7, I got there after 6 but they took me anyway. Great. They convinced me to get color powder over my regular acrylic. No biggie since it'll last longer. Cool. Lady takes over an hour. I'm ready to go and it's past closing so I rush out. I noticed a couple imperfections, but I'm like ok you came in late, let it go. I get home and wash my hands and REALLY look at my nails and it looks like my 11 year old niece did them. I was furious! That's the first picture below. I go back today, two days later because I couldn't make it yesterday. When I approach the manager and show him my nails, he immediately gets defensive saying that's because of the color I chose. I had to go back and forth with him and wait for about 20 minutes before he agreed to soak off and do a full set for $10. Cool. The lady that originally did my nails offered to do it, but I'd asked if anyone else was available so she clearly had an attitude. She said with disdain I'd have to wait because no one else was available. Cool. The manager started my soak off while I waited and finally admitted the acrylic was laid unevenly. I don't remember her name, but DO NOT let the youngest looking lady touch your nails! She rushed and was careless. And she was extremely rude when I came back to complain. I'm so glad I waited and got Tammy! She's amazing! She took her time, talked me into adding ombré and stones so I'd really be happy with the final look and I even added a pedicure. I'll admit I've been holding out on this review for a while because I've selfishly not been wanting to share my lady, but I know it's unfair to her. After moving out here 2 yrs ago, I needed to find a place to replace my last nail salon in Rice Village because I really hate driving far. I will admit, I was not immediately impressed the first two times I came because each time, someone messed me up. The first time, I actually wanted a full set of nails and the woman applied 3 crooked, and the owner Jan came and took over and fixed everything. The second time, the girl did a shoddy job on the color and didn't cut down my nails like I wanted. Being that I didn't want to give up hope, I tried one last time.... I met Lucy and Tammy. Lucy was great with nails and really listened to you and did an awesome job, but then she left!!! Tammy, thankfully is still there and does the best pedicures and gives fantastic foot and leg massages. I have grown quite fond of her - so much so that I tend to let her pick out the color because I trust her. She does a really great job with designs also; even Cesar notices the artwork and comments! The prices here blow my other blade out of the water! I don't pay near as much as the other place for the exact same items - paraffin, hot stone and aromatherapy. They also offer complimentary drinks while you get pampered. There are lots of pedi chairs - if I recall, it's 8-10. There is a different manager now, but I do miss Jan. I also like that they have a punch card that will earn you a free mani after x amount of pedis, and Tammy does a great mani as well. I have a history of going, find out she's busy, being offered someone else and turning them away to return when Tammy is available, lol; now I just text her. read more

Went here with a friend for Shellac manicures. There were many problems, and in spite of a very kind owner willing to make it right, I will not chance it by going again. First of all, they did not have Shellac brand colors but only one small selection of Gelish colors. So, they did not have a nice neutral to choose from. The owner said he does not have more because he does not think the Shellac is of as good quality - but I've been using Shellac brand for years and think they are great, so I have trouble believing this explanation. Also, if there is no nice neutral color, what are you supposed to do if you want a clear-ish tinted color for your nails (as many women do)? The salon was empty and seemed clean, except I was sat at a station where there were old kleenexes and drink bottles. I don't understand how someone working there could not notice this. The guy doing my nails seemed to not speak English at all, AT ALL. I asked him a couple of questions and he could not even respond, but just smiled and nodded. I told him I wanted to keep my nails long and just square them off, since I had been growing them out. He proceeded to file them down to behind the tip of my fingernails so far that they HURT. He then proceeded to apply the shellac really fast and like he did not even care about the application at all. Anyone who knows shellac knows that if you apply too much so that it clumps between the nail and the skin then the polish can peel off quickly. He obviously did not know this because the polish was pooling on the sides of both of my fingers. In fact, the top coat was all over the place on my fingers, including on the bottoms of my finger pads (how does that even happen?!). The final insult was when he gestured for me to pull out my hands so he could wipe off the final top coat and make them shiny. I saw already that the shellac was not dry so I said "no, it's not dry" since I had already just seen my pinky nail smudge. He then tried to physically pull my hands towards him and I pulled them back forcefully saying No! You'll ruin it, it's not dry! He grabbed my arm and almost bruised me with how much he force he tried to apply in pulling my arm and immediately started to wipe down the nails with cotton. Guess what! It wasn't dry and the shellac started smearing off. This was totally unacceptable, and I was mad at this point so I called to the owner to come address the situation. The owner saw that I was right and then told me he would do it all over, so he then STARTED OVER and did the manicure himself, albeit now on my stubs of fingernails. One other thing that I thought was gross is that the owner proceeded to scratch off the messed up Shellac with his own fingernails - it was almost too much to bear. The guy who had originally worked on me then went over to do a French manicure on a woman who had been waiting - yikes! You would think I'd be comp'ed for such an experience, right? Nope! Although the owner had already agreed to the price of $25 over the phone, which is a $10 discount from $35, he still made me pay that amount for my 2.5 hour manicure and destruction of my nails. Obviously, I will not be going back. It has been less than a week and my manicure has started chipping off, so he also needs to rethink his theory on the supposed superior quality of the gelish over shellac brands. The owner seemed like a genuinely nice guy, but he has GOT to fire the guy who worked on me (with eyeliner and wears a cross necklace) and get his salon in order and his folks trained if he wants to stay open! read more

I walked in 30 minutes before they close (7pm on a weekday) and asked if it was too late, but they were so accommodating and said no problem. I was also pleased when the nail tech took her time applying my nail polish actually letting the coats dry in between. So many Shellac color I just don't know what to pick sometimes and UNLIKE almost every other nail shop they get the matching shellac and regular polish which is wonderful if you enjoy having your nails and toes match. They always offer drinks when you arrive and they give you a neck arm and hand massage with a manicure. Trust me and spring for the deluxe pedicure. You wont regret it. The lady waking the brows really knows her stuff and I have been more than impressed. The young owner is gorgeous and friendly! We had originally planned on just a regular mani/pedi, but changed our minds and upgraded after seeing another couple get the deluxe package. This included a delightful massage with hot stones, a lavender parrafin wax on hands and feet, and of course, a cute color for me :) Anyway, the prices are air, the service is great. 4 star for the service, minus one star for upselling... Shellac color selection is pretty good, I found the most adorable coral color. The ambiance was wonderful, quiet and nicely decorated. Nail service was perfect. I was thinking of making this my default nail place, that's when the upselling started: the pedicure lady asked me 7 times if I wanted to wax my eyebrows..... I really felt like telling her asking the same question 7 times is not the most productive way of conducting business. What I like the most is that they have great Nail Polish and in a variety of brand like Zoya which I totally love (it last much longer than OPI) great color selection too. The staff is friendly and they always do a perfect mani/pedi. I recommend to get your mani/pedi around 9-10am or 2-4pm after that it get crowded ( book you after work appointment). Good massage with your mani/pedi and the chairs are comfy. My go to nail salon when I lived in the energy corridor and even now that I've moved! There are several nail salons in the area so I'd tried many of them but when I finally tried Maxim Nails, I knew it was my go to salon! The pedi spa seats are sectioned in the back away from the doors and they play relaxing music so it's a great place to unwind. The staff is very friendly and not super chatty with one another so you get to enjoy the moment.
