I'm so happy that I was able to make it to Maximillian's because they've been on my list to try since I've moved to the area. I went with a group of friends and was able to have the private seating area since there were so many of us, which was really amazing because we knew that we would be catching up. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the Korean beef which was cooked perfectly and all the vegetables were fresh and flavorful. Also got a side of the brussels sprouts and they were delicious as well. The bartender did an amazing job making my drink called the cold snap. And of course I had to get a little dessert and got the mounds cake which wasn't overly sweet and very moist. This is definitely someplace. A Stellar Dining Experience A must visit for Food Network fans because you'll actually taste all the subtle and complex flavors you hear described on Top Chef and other cooking shows. My friend and I shared the Peach Gorgonzola Salad, Voodoo Trout, Yellow Curry Pistachio Chicken and Coconut Cake. Gorgonzola is first cousin to blue cheese and not a very subtle flavor but the peach salad was beautifully presented, light, slightly tangy and perfectly balanced. The chicken had soba noodles and the trout had mahogany fire noodles. Both were absolutely delicious and I usually don't care for noodles much. The trout was perfectly cooked with one of the most complex and delicious sauces I've ever tasted. Thai basil, ginger, cumin, garlic, coconut, shellfish sauce, with shrimp, cilantro, snow peas and tomatoes. There was a tiny bit of heat (spice) that was absolute perfection in terms of balance. The coconut cake was a yellow cake with a white frosting. Comfort food texture without being heavy. There was a delicate drizzle of lemon or caramel on top...we couldn't tell but it was delicious and I'm glad we didn't skip desert. We did end up taking some leftovers home but ate a lot when we were there. The thing that surprised me the most was I was full but not stuffed. Somehow, the very hearty, earthy, food wasn't heavy. I've never been to France or Italy, but based on the way I've heard people describe the food there, Maxmillion's is most likely on par with that. Went there last night, the Korean barbecue dish is not only delicious but beautifully orchestrated on the plate. It's spicy got a little heat and a little sweet. We started with the crispy sesame calamari tossed in General Tso's spicy sweet glaze sesame and lemon served in a crispy wonton. It was light and fresh and bursting with flavor! Sooo good! Everything was delivered in a timely manner, including the drinks. We had dinner in an upstairs space with a group for a sales presentation. The food was FABULOUS !!! Started with a house salad with balsamic dressing. Fresh, crunchy and delicious. They also served us some focaccia triangles. For our main course, we chose the filet (forgot to take a pic, we were talking to our table mates ). The filet was perfectly cooked. Served with a potato mixture and veggies. Best part of the meal was MY dessert. The coconut cake was four layers of deliciousness !!! I took part of it home and ate it at 2 more meals. It was a generous piece. Hubby's key lime pie was also very good. They have an outdoor space that would make wine and dessert a great option this summer. We will be back !!!! read more

My husband found this restaurant on Yelp, and they were perfectly positioned for a stop coming out of RDU headed to Fayetteville. The staff and owner were friendly and welcoming. We had a reservation at the bar which allowed us the opportunity to interact more. Ross was bartending and was knowledgeable (food and wine - we didn't try any cocktails) and engaging. His food recommendations were spot on. Food was amazing. We started with the calamari, then I had the Korean BBQ and Dave had the ahi tuna special. All terrific. I'd order any of them again. We are particular about our wine, and after a couple of tastes Ross picked just the right one. I wouldn't have picked it off the menu but we really enjoyed it. We followed with a Muscadet which was true to style and wonderful with our Asian-flavored food. Not only would I highly recommend this place, but I would go out of my way to eat there. read more

We stopped by here for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed things, eating at the bar. We began with some mussels and then ordered a great pork dish that had some cabbage that was somehow amazing and paired perfectly with our meat. We also split a nice bottle of Sancere and finishex dinner with a peated whiskey. Great service from Dave, as well as some great advice on our selections. I ate at Maximillians celebrating my adult nephew's birthday with a party of 5. We were met at the door by one of the co-owners and our server Zack both of whom were very friendly and helpful in understanding the menu, wine and beer selections. Zack let us try different beers and a mixed drink to find which one each of us liked best. My twin brother selected a Stout beer that paired nicely with his Homage to the Pig entree while my German Mosel River 2019 St. Christopher Piesporter Michelsberg Riesling paired well with the Voodoo entree and my aging Mom got a Shirley Temple. We started with two appetizers that were the best part of the meal. The Crispy Sesame Calamari with General Tso's spicy sweet glaze served in an edible wonton basket was succulent and amazing. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. We also had the Marrow - Canoe-cut Beef bones with marrow cooked with parsley and served with capers, red onions and crostini served over Focaccia bread. Never had something like this before and it was an interesting appetizer that is definitely worth a try!!! The entrees were a mixed bag and why I gave the meal 4 stars versus 5. The Homage to the Pig was a nice manly meal with a double-cut pork chop served with Baby Cabbage & Sausage Gratin and Candied Bacon Carrots served with Lusty Monk Mustard Creme. All aspects of this dish were great. The Korean BBQ Beef entree was also very good but tasted to me more like a Thai Yum Nua Spicy Beef Salad than Korean BBQ. The flavor profiles were diverse and worth trying. The "Voodoo of the Day" was disappointing. I had very high expectations of this dish after reading excellent prior reviews about this dish with a beautiful tuna filet. For my dish the chef was introducing this dish with a beef skirt steak for the first time. I felt the Thai style voodoo seafood sauce did not work as well with the somewhat tough skirt steak and was spicier than I like. I would like to try this again with the tuna and toned down a little. My mother tried the Pasta Fattoria on the recommendation of our server. While it was a beautiful dish with Orecchiette Pasta, Rainbow Chard, Bacon, Roasted Garlic, Onion, Tomato and a large dollop of Siano Burratta Cheese the flavor profiles were off and my mother could only eat one bite feeling like it tasted like pasta served in dish water. The server and co-owner worked very hard to satisfy her by offering to provide a different dish free of charge. She accepted a focaccia bread plate and sampled the other entrees but felt like the food prices were high for something she really didn't like. We got three desserts including a Reese's chocolate and peanut butter pie that came out with a flaming birthday candle with great singing by our server Zack. The Flourless Chocolate Cake was a wonderfully warm chocolaty treat that was our favorite dessert. The Creme Brûlée was also excellent and exactly what you would expect from this classic dish. Overall, the meal was good, and in some cases great. The service from Zack and the co-owner could not have been better. Unfortunately two of the entrees missed the mark for me and for the prices raised my expectations to more than what was delivered. I look forward to trying this again to have a better food choice. read more

I booked Maximillian's for a Valentine's Day dinner, and couldn't have been happier with the experience. Upon arrival, our reservation and table were ready and we were seated immediately. Multiple staff helped us get settled in an efficient manner. Caesar Salad and Calamari (oof ) were lovely! For entree Korean BBQ and Specialty Jumbo Lump Crab Pasta (Daily Special). Then, Tiramisu for dinner. All of the food was fresh and well prepared - the calamari was a standout! Staff was professional, courteous, and authentic. This place is amazing! The food is outstanding and the staff were wonderful! They use locally sourced produce, meat, and seafood that made my meal taste so fresh and delicious. I had a vegetable pasta dish with a burrata cheese ball and my friend had the NC trout. The flavors were unreal! To finish off our meal, we ordered a slice of the chef's famous coconut cake. OMG soooo good! The chef and owner chatted with us about the restaurant and her food. She was so friendly and sweet. Enjoyed my birthday celebration tonight. We started with calamari in a fried wonton. It's the best I have ever tasted (not kidding ). My husband had the fish of the day which was trout, served over spicy ravioli. ...delicious. I ordered shrimp with fettuccine, arugula, tomatoes and roasted garlic. To end the night, I had coffee with Frangelico and the chocolate hazelnut cheesecake. Server was very attentive and the owner came over to tell us stories of his many years at this establishment. Come to Maximillians if you want a fine dining experience in Cary! While the dishes are pricey, it's worth it and portions are massive. Service and ambiance were also great. I came with a friend for dinner and the two of us split the Maple Leaf Farms Crispy Half Duck Confit, Homage to the Pig, and Flourless Chocolate Torte. The Duck Confit was hands down my favorite dish!! Definitely recommended. It came with a sweet potato, bacon, rosemary tart (kind of like a pie slice), and the duck was cooked with a port-wine demi glace and an amazing pecan-spice brittle. The Homage to the Pig was a massive pork shank with five grain blend, ham hock braised collards (a bit salty), and a bacon, onion, apple jam. While this was decent, it didn't hit the spot like the Duck Confit. The Flourless Chocolate Torte was topped with some vanilla gelato, which gave it a nice touch. However, since it was flourless, the texture was really different from what we were used to - it was a lot like a brownie. Good spot for a date night or just a lovely meal! read more

I have always had a great experience at this restaurant and also on the pizza side. Maximilian's has been in Cary for a while and is tucked away in a small strip area off of 54. I was able to make a reservation on opentable and there was no wait on a Thursday night. The wine is a bit pricey at $10 a glass so a bottle for $30 or the martinis are a better bang for your buck. The wine was also not served in fancy stemware so I would get a martini next time. The menu has lots of flavor and many dishes have Asian and exotic spices in them. I stuck with the salmon since I have a mild palette and it was perfectly prepared with mussels and vegetables. The staff was very attentive and I had a very enjoyable meal and evening. read more

This place and experience was wonderful! First, it's super cute with lots of little touches here and there! Second, it seemed to be a very kid friendly place! We usually don't take the kids out to eat to much, let alone a fine dining restaurant because they're kids, and we don't want to disrupt other people's meals. We got there when the doors opened so the place wouldn't be packed. The kids were allowed to walk around and check things out to their heart's desire! The older two even got to watch the "magic" happen as the chefs were preparing our meals! Every single person in that restaurant was so very kind, friendly, and happy! Everyone was talking to the kids and didn't seemed to be bothered by their presence at all. Third, the food was AMAZING! I didn't get pics of the calamari (super delicious and beautifully displayed) or any of our desserts (key lime pie, chocolate and peanut butter mousse cake, and the coconut cake), because well I have three kids and they quickly dived in before a picture could be taken. The garlic bread was an appetizer and it was the best garlic bread we've ever tasted! The outside had a nice crispiness with the inside being soft and full of flavor! My husband isn't a huge meat eater, but the chef was able to talk to him and design an amazing dish full of delicious fresh vegetables over fettuccine noodles. He loved how yummy it was and ate every bite! I had the trout and holy cow! It was the best trout I've ever had by far! The pesto that came with fish was also very flavorful and the best pesto I've ever tasted! The vegetables were also tender and flavorful too! My boys had their own special dishes (fettuccine with pink sauce and flat bread cauliflower pizza), that they both absolutely enjoyed! We came here for dinner on a Thursday night during Triangle restaurant week. Started off with some Prosecco (not part of the the restaurant week menu), then for first course, we got ravioli and ribs. I did not try the ribs, but my friend thought the ravioli was really good and ribs were okay. For second course, I got salmon and shrimp and my friend got hull chicken. I really like the chicken dish! and the salmon was pretty decent. For dessert, we got waffle with gelato (do not be fooled by the name waffle, it was sooooo soooo soooo good) and chocolate cake. Both were so good! No regrets! I would say dessert was definitely the best of the three courses! :p Service was really good, and in my opinion they really provide you with the home-made, friendly environment.
