I had been hearing about this place for a while so when it was across the street from a location that I was at I decided to try. I was expecting typical bar scene so there it was. I probably waited about 5 to 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge me from the bar but once I did they were pretty attentive. I was thrilled to see ahi tuna as one of the options as a appetizer so I immediately chose that. It was okay but I don't feel like I got my fix with it. I then opted to get a burger and fries to take home. I got the one with egg on it and I was pretty disappointed to tell you the truth. I do like onion lettuce and tomato and this burger basically came with cheese and the egg. It was pretty plain. The fries were mediocre. Met a nice couple next to me and they were probably the highlight of the visit. They do have specials through out the week so thats nice. Wow! What an interesting menu!! Check it out online. I met with a few friends right as they opened and sat outside until someone started smoking in the side area. Fortunately we had already enjoyed our food and were just chatting and thinking about getting apps and more drinks, but that killed it for all of us. The inside is very dark and full of TVs (I mean, it IS a sports bar!), but the patio is lovely. Except for the smoking. When I walked back to my car, I noticed the bench by the back door where the staff take breaks, and it's piled high with cigarette butts in the ashtray, on the sidewalk, and even in the parking lot. One of our favorite places to frequent bc we know it is locally owned and operated and the food is good! Every server we have had has been very attentive and efficient. We purpose to order different items and we haven't had a dish we didn't like. However, fried pickles are a regular in our ordering repertoire. I like how there are televisions at every angle so you don't have to crane your neck just to see a game your table mate is fervently watching. Food usually good, good portions, pricing seems fair, however, I would not say great on service,.... they know how to take an order and are always polite, but the original servers never seem to come back to fill your glass or ask if everything is OK, other servers will stop and help, but you have to flag them down to ask for something like a box or your check. You really don't know who your actual server is by the end and you don't feel like you were taken care of properly.... - obviously, it's not a deal breaker for us as we do go there about every other week at least, but it's something that keeps happening everytime and it's just how it is I guess. read more

The Pickled Onion is a nice hidden gem in a shopping center off Glenwood Avenue, behind the CarMax. There is a bar, indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is not your typical bar type food featuring items such as tuna steak. The sweet potato fries are on point and they have some of the best wings their side of town. The prices are a little higher than what you might expect for bar fair, however they are a level above your average bar fair. Service is great as they operate like a tavern, everyone is your server and you can get attention from someone even on the busiest of nights. read more

Traveling through and looking for a place to stop for lunch where we could bring our dog. We were able to sit at one of the many outdoor tables, and they even brought our pup a bowl of water. I tried Pickled Onion again and enjoy their menu offerings. Really unique tasty spins on bar eats. Most recently I tried the Crack Fire. A blend of their crack dip ( buffalo chicken dip) spread on fresh whole Jalapeños wrapped in bacon. Those doing Keto, get it ! These were awesome. So tasty. My daughter had a meatball sub sandwich with onion rings. The meatballs on this sun were notorious B.I.G huge ! Really tasty and good price for the quality and portion. I'll come by for the drinks at the bar next time. My fitness instructor loves coming here but unfortunately it's located too close to our fitness studio. We randomly picked this place to go for lunch and ordered wings, burgers and chicken tenders for the kids and loaded fried and fried cheese balls. Hands down the best damn wings I've had! They are crispy and cooked all the way through and bonus points is that they are NOT those unusually large wings other places have. Food was great and fresh! I've been a few times to this place. Some of the food items are very good such as the Philly and the crack fire. Most of the other items are average bar food. Solid drink selection. Service is ok to bad depending on where you're sitting. If you're sitting at the bar there is decent service but if you sit anywhere else, you may not get checked on for 30+ minutes. This is because they pool tips together instead of letting servers keep the tips for their tables. Would come more often if management would get rid of the pooled tips situation leading to servers becoming more attentive to their tables. read more

The food is usually decent, but the service consistently leaves a lot to be desired. I'm here weekly with some folks with whom I do music. Drinks orders get taken quickly, but once the drinks arrive, it seemingly takes forever to get the attention of a server to place a food order. There are times, items ordered are forgotten and come out much later than the rest of the food. When we're finished, it takes a significant amount of time to get our checks so we can check out. Does it stop us from coming back here, no. However, we do, as a group, talk about our frustration with the service here. read more

Overall very good! Had the spinach parmesan bacon dip for an appetizer which was delicious and the perfect size for 2-3 people. Entire appetizer was served hot including the toasty pita chips. Would definitely get this again. I had brisket sandwich which was huge and absolutely delicious. Very messy but worth it. I got the jalapeño macaroni on the side which was just okay. Will probably go for fries or onion rings next time. My husband got the tuna tacos which were tasty and the tuna seemed very fresh. Plenty of tuna and toppings, and I was particularly impressed with the quality of the flour tortillas. I will try some of the other tacos (there are plenty of options!) next time. Had a glass of the cheapest Chardonnay and it was perfectly fine and served ice cold which I like. My husband had a Tito's and soda which was also good. Of course, it's hard to say for sure as he rushed us to order and never came back. Beer refills? Nope. Water refills? Nope. The food was dreadful and seemingly worse than it was the prior time we came (weekday) so it seems they're only able to keep up with demand by skimping on portions and food quality. Also I hope you like the regulars standing around next to your table yelling at each other like it's a party. What a disaster. Update! While waiting on our check, our original waiter finally appeared to ask if we had gotten our food yet. What a joke. read more

Hands down, worst service in a long time. This is one of our favorite, laid back places to visit but this experience was so bad, I won't be back anytime soon. We went in this evening around 6:40, ordered a couple of drinks, things went well. Waited a bit to order food, but thought, no big deal because we had drinks. We ended up ordering chicken nachos. Waited about 90 minutes. Came out as just normal nachos with chili on the side. Told the server that we ordered it with chicken, she responded with, "I do drinks not food." Waited at least 10-15 minutes for the correct nachos to come out, the waitress had another very rude comment. Manager apologized and offered to comp the nachos. The rude server who is female and has tattooes up and down both arms was extremely rude with comments that it wasn't her fault and she only serves drinks abd the waiting 90 minutes and inability to properly comp and make it right with the customer is exactly why we won't be back. I would recommend taking your business to a better local place, like Manchesters that has way better customer service. You have been warned! read more

I was excited to try it out after reading the menu and looking at the photos. Went with a buddy and the food just didn't meet up to the expectations. The atmosphere is straight sports bar vibe which I typically like so I figured it was all good until I tried the beer and could tell the tap lines could use a good flush. Meat on both of our meals was extremely under seasoned if at all...staff was nice and attentive so maybe the kitchen was having an off night or training up some new folks. Food is typical bar food. Sometimes exactly what the body is craving and sometimes pretty meh. The location is clean and aesthetically ok, but unless you just really want to just watch a game there isn't a ton to keep pulling you back here. The menu has a lot of options so it's definitely a good place for a group to watch a game as most people can find something to eat. I first ate at the Pickled Onion on Cantilever in October, enjoying a delicious lunch and great service with my daughter. Because of this, I chose Pickled Onion for my birthday dinner on a Sunday evening, as it is located somewhat centrally between the six family members who would be attending, and who live up to fifty miles apart - including my disabled sister. When we arrived, they were not too busy - well less than 50% of dining area occupied, quite a few open tables. We were told that our only options were hightops or eating outside on the patio. We explained that we had a disabled family member for which neither was a viable option. The hostess tried to help us, but manager Mark said "Too bad! Those are your only options!" I said "what about those four top tables that are open? Can we please put two of them together?" He said "NO! We don't move them!" Rudely. I asked "Are they attached to the floor?", honestly not understanding what the big deal was. To which manager Mark replied "NO! But I'm not rearranging our dining room for you!" I said "You really don't want our business?" and left. I went back a few minutes to inquire the owners name - he told me it was Greg. He got in my face and we started exchanging insults! During this exchange he called me an "A--hole" but including the 'ss' and yelled "Screw you!" at me. I don't know if he gave me his real name or if the owners real name is really Greg or not. Good, flavorful food. We ordered the Chicago beef, hog in a quilt, and a couple salads via Postmates. Our order took an excessive amount of time to arrive, well over an hour and a half. The expected delivery time was pushed farther and farther back. As a result, our food was soggy when it arrived. I suggest they test out other packaging that can vent during transport. Even though we hungry, we stuck it in the oven to crisp up. This did the trick and made our food much more appetizing. I enjoyed the hog in a quilt. It is pricy, however, the portion sizes are large. We went with a plethora of appetizers... fried pickle chips, a buffalo chicken "crack" dip with chips, and wings. All three were pretty solid. The bar itself seemed functional, plenty of TVs and seating areas and they rotate a good amount of brews. The bar staff was friendly, but a little tough to get their attention, my pals drink went empty twice and took some time to get refilled... precisely the reason I almost always sit at the bar in the first place. Lastly, they had a good amount of electronic slot machines... to me, those always detract from the environment. The food here is not good. Ordered the fried shrimp and a chicken quesadilla and it cost around $28. Called ahead and still had to wait 10 mins after the order was supposed to be ready. All this would be fine if the food was quality. The shrimp were ok, but the 1 star review is warranted due to the quesadilla. Probably the worst quesadilla I've ever had. There were barely any pieces of chicken in it and it was mostly warm onions. I feel like the restaurant owes me a REAL quesadilla and an apology, but the chances of that happening are low. read more

It's delicious, the chicken has barbecue sauce and has the street chicken feel with the lightly burnt ends- very good. We also got a wedge salad as a side and it comes with blue cheese, diced tomatoes, and balsamic vinegar. The chicken crack was good but it's a small portion and they melt a layer of cheese on top that makes it hard to break into it each bite. I came for my birthday dinner with my family and they had the pickled onion surprise me with ice cream drizzled with chocolate syrup and a brownie, that was tasty! Okay, two days ago I stopped in with a friend of mine and his mom and we were starving for lunch. It did not disappoint. I had the Alfredo penne with all he tuna which was delicious.
