The server I've only seen two times the whole time we were there for about an hour and a half when they took my order and brought my order. So I would have to say the service is pretty poor as far as the food most of the party ordered fried chicken, which they said was pretty good I had ordered. Chicharon Bulaklak $16.00 and large bowl of white rice with garlic was $12.00. I did enjoy the crispy Chicharon Bulaklak I am Mexican and love my fried pork . The rice was okay with garlic but I couldn't not find a server or soy sauce and the $12 for the rice I feel is a little steep. Noticed that there were only 3 or 4 tables occupied on Friday night around 6pm and a homeless man walked in the restaurant asking for money. Also a homeless woman lying down on the bench outside. I came to just get some pinakbet and rice - total came out to about $23. Little did I know that they charge $5 for a side or rice! And excuse me, but why does it take 15 min to dish out my pinakbet, you can't tell me it wasn't already cooked and heated? Prob won't come back to this location. This is the worst Max we have ever been to. We were seated apparently 10 minutes before their break time and after the last customer before us left they shut off the music and the staff disappeared one by one. We ordered 5 entrees and after the second entree was delivered the waitress puts the bill on the table saying they were closing to get ready for dinner time. To make it even worse she comes back with the to go boxes already! Mind you at this point we don't even have our whole order yet! So we finally start eating. The Crispy Pata and Chicharon Bulaklak were burnt making some of it too hard to chew. No staff was around except for an older lady that was taking her break at the booth behind us. I asked her if they were on break and she said yes and continued looking on her phone. She didn't even bother to ask what we needed. All we wanted was a refill for our soda. After we packed up our food, we even tried to look for ANY staff on our way out but no one was in sight. The only courteous employee was the guy outside who looked like he was on his break as well but he was kind enough to even open the door for us and told us thank you and inggat. Came to Milpitas with my boss and a couple of co workers over the weekend for work. My boss wanted to try some Filipino food. Me being Filipino googled the nearest Filipino and it was Maxs. Inside I thought Maxs is a great chain and have been to Max both in the Phils. and US. But this Max's was the worst experienced I've ever had not only for Max's but any other restaurant I've ever been to. The service was horrible! We sat down never greeted then she shows up and literally says ready? Ok... we ordered everything all at once and never saw her again. She vanished. The table next to us got their food first after arriving 10 mins. After we did and then they gave away part of our food to a different table. Our last meal item was served 15 minutes after we got our items. I had to get up to look for someone to get soup bowls before our soup got cold and they gave us coffee cups. The food was terrible! The chicken was so dry that I had to flush it down with water. The lechon kawali felt like they grabbed a clump of chopped pork and fried it never stirred it and all ended clumped into one piece. No refills on water and soda. No removing of plates we didn't need we didn't know were to put other items in our table. We asked somebody else for our check and ask this person where our server went and she didn't even know! The table that was there after us was served first and left before us. The guy in that table felt bad for us and told his waiter that he thought we were ready to leave as well. When I arrived the food was being delivered and I was never asked what I would like to have or drink. Was never even acknowledged. We order a second Pancit, it was never even placed in the kitchen. Received check automatic 18% gratuity, because we were sat a table for a group of 5 or more, we were only a party of 4. Lead waiter was heard cussing at the table near us. Food, is typically very good at Max's, in any location. This particular location is not decorative with regular historical founder graphics at the wall compare to other locations. And this location has a very bad service, i tried it 2-3 times because I thought it was just a fluke that one day for bad service But they're very consistent of providing so so service or even at its worst. Scale of 1-5 they're at the lowest number . Beginning with the hostess or person in the front. No body attend at the front, the hostess doesnt care if there is a sign in list. She thought we're waiting for to go and when i pointed the we sign the waiting list she gave the impression that the list is not being followed. Confusing. And when she took us in the table is not even ready yet so we have to go back in the front. When we sat down no body came to us until 15-20 minutes later just to take an order and they're not even full or busy. Just for simple water refill takes 10min to wait and with the request multiple times before they'll serve it to you. Asking for to go box is a Major task for the staff even though i could actually see it from behind the door from our location that is easy and reacheable to any staff, took 15min waitng. I literally ask 3 staff for a togo box, the server, the lady in the front (hostess) and the busboy. when i pointed to the busboy he quickly grab it. It just doesnt make a sense why would the staff ignore customer or majority of the staff doesnt care or no proper customer service training. This location has the worst staffing at any other max's. I've been to the one in SsF and Daly city and they're very good with service. But this one is bringing the name down and its reputation in long irrefutable in history of Max's restaurant. I wonder if the owner doesnt supervised its staff or they're going out of business or some other reason. I recommend skip this location and if you're incline for max's recipe its worth it to go to other location. This Max's location is the worst of Max! In addition i also heard another customer complaining of waiting for long with no one attending. Its just a plain consistency of staff doesnt care of its customer and service they provide. The hub was craving filipino food so we planned to go here after a quick stop at the Great Mall. I haven't been here in a long time, maybe 2+ years? When we did visit in the past, the music is loud and cold from the a/c blasting. When we got inside, we were seated right away and the shades were drawn. My daughter comments, it's not cold. LOL We got our dishes fairly quickly. We enjoyed the food but there are other Filipino restaurants that rank higher with us. It was more of convenience with the hub's craving. The beef ribs tho, is my fave! When it came time to pay, I had an issue with the "Scan here" QR payment. It showed on my phone payment failed twice yet I got texts from my bank 2 deductions were made. The convenience became an inconvenience. I spoke with an employee and she told me that they've been having issues and told management and they were suppose to remove it from the receipt, which obviously hasn't happened. The other employee didn't tell me not to use it either when he came by to collect the receipt and card. To say the least, the service was terrible. My first and last time supporting this business. I went there this past Sunday to try it out. Firstly, when I went in, the lady at the front entrance area was rude saying "what do you want." After telling her I wanted to dine in and it's just me, she literally brushed her hand at me and told me to sit down somewhere. The table I sat at was dirty (the remaining empty tables were dirty as well). When I went to use the restroom before sitting down the supervisor stared me down as if my mere presence was a nuisance. Furthermore, the waiters kept passing me by and helping other customers, some who came in after I did. I literally had to flag down a waiter to help me and provide me a menu. There were moments while waiting for the food and eating that a few of the staff would stare/glare at me and talk in Tagalog (I can actually understand & speak a bit of the language btw) and giggling. When I requested to speak with the supervisor he tried to brush me off by sending the waiter to say he was on break. I told him I'd wait and was eventually able to speak with him. All in all, I do not recommend this place as there's better Filipino restaurants out there food wise as well as the service. I went here on the recommendation of a good friend of mine as they noted the fried chicken meal was good. Maybe I caught them on an off day but the chicken was nothing to write home about. Yesterday, I came for lunch with my wife and we had a great time. Their service is quick which is good and food is delivered on time. Lots of things changed from my last review such as prices going up, etc. everything else is the same. I do like how they now chop up their crispy pata into bits and pieces as oppose to one large thigh (crispy pata is now $25). We also enjoyed their bangus sisig which is always delicious and comes out freshly made, sizzling with citrus notes. For $9 we had a large plate of garlic rice which was really good and so much for such a cheap price. Max's is always a great go-to for Filipino food especially this location. Used to really love this place. After all, being Filipino, sometimes you just get a craving for some of your tried and true comfort food. Our four person family just finished a trip to Seafood City and we thought, "Why not give their dine in experience another try." We got seated at 1:30 pm but left at 5 pm. Other reviewers said that you have to be Filipino to get service and that was absolutely not true for me. But, of course, was there with my non-Filipino husband and mixed kids. Despite being sat in the middle of the dining room, we ordered drinks about 30 minutes after being seated and didn't order food until 2:30 pm. When we finally got our appetizer of lumpia close to 3 pm, we were starving ... and thirsty because we still hadn't gotten our drinks. We had a sassy and mostly absent waitress; the other waiter really didn't want anything to do with us. We watched party after party get their food and leave. The schizophrenic and loud music didn't help our hunger at all. It was a mix of dance music, classic rock and R&B. It might have been more enjoyable if we had food or drink in the first hour we were there! When we finally got our food, we were being asked if we needed boxes and got our bill within 15 minutes. I'm glad we made an effort to flag someone down to pay our bill immediately because that also took some time and the family was glad to get out of there by 5 pm. After our Max's adventure, we had to find another place to eat because we were too afraid to order something else but mostly, no one wanted to come around and check on us. This place will be fine since most Filipinos in the area will come here given their name and reputation in the Philippines. But be forewarned, the service here is absolutely unforgivable and not a representation of what Filipino hospitality is. At this point, we're willing to drive all the way to Union City and go to Gerry's. Perhaps we will give Max's another try again in a few years, but it really sucks to eat somewhere where you feel you're not welcome. Our dining experience from this restaurant was horrible. After dinner, we asked for the check and for it to be split into 2 checks; according to what each group ordered and ate. Normally, wait staff then will ask the guest if it's going to be one check or split; they never did! They were annoyed at this; seemed like they have never heard of "split checks" before. And of course both checks came back all messed up, charging extra food on one and missing food on the other. They tried fixing it twice and we still ended up with incorrect checks! All the while these people were telling us that we should have told them before hand that it's going to be a "split check". After a long while we thought they finally got it right, signed our checks and left. A couple days passed and after checking our credit card charges.. lo and behold.. there was an additional charge on our credit card for food probably ordered by the other group!
