Great little restaurant you have to get off the highway to find it. Gas, groceries and good food. Service is great and so is the food

And the old carpet just holds that smell. The restaurant was on the expensive side. The lunch specials started at $14.50. The cheapest sandwich was $15.99 and comes with one side. They offered a salad bar for $16.99 The hot bar was $18.79. Kids meals were all $9.99. I went with the hot bar because it had fried chicken on it. There were 4 different soups to choose from and all of the normal salad bar items. The pickled beets were really good. The skin of the fried chicken was soft from being in the steam table. Nothing crunchy left. Our waitress was very friendly and checked on a few times. Lunch for 3 adults and a kid was $70 plus tip.

Flaky with buttery caper sauce was rich and creamy over a bed of rice. My side was the salad bar which can hold its own as a meal all by itself. My husband ordered their famous 1lb pork chop. The mash was creamy and the Caesar salad side were good. Credit where credit is due.... The chop was cooked to temp however with the size and even with the red sauce it's basted with, my husband reported it a bit dry but he definitely enjoyed the process of eating it. The service as fine and we enjoyed the experience. We will definitely return next time we travel that way and try more on the menu

He is a culinary professor at the local university and she runs a great restaurant. The salad was great lots of fresh ingredients and dressing. The corn crab chowder was excellent perfect combination. Best soup they have in my opinion it belongs in the flavor town Hall of Fame. And the lemon blueberry cheesecake did not disappoint homemade lemon curd, whipped cream, nice flaky crust, and very good flavor profiles blend it all together. Very quiet and nice dining room lots of seating and the service was great. Tuck, away in downtown just a few miles off the highway with your detour if you're out and about.

This being a soup-salad-sandwich place, I had a half-sandwich with soup. The famous crab-corn chowder was just okay--I didn't really taste any crab in the broth, just some strands of loose imitation crab. I found it thicker than a usual bisque sort of soup: although that's reasonable by clam chowder standards, this broth didn't quite taste like anything. I also found the sandwich nondescript--the hard-boiled egg was nice, but the ham, cheese, and pita all seemed premade, and their combination didn't seem to add anything.

The main reason I want to review this place is because it was SO cheap. I mean, you could eat here three times a week for the price of going to any other restaurant once per week. Most of the breakfast dishes were like...$5 or under. Serious deals for this kind of food, not something you see these days. I appreciated this diner for being one of few restaurants that just serves bare bones, basic food for cheap.

Really fun, western, rustic restaurant theme. Hitchin Post is essentially a cozy diner. Sunday lunch special is the big hit. Chicken noodles, stuffing, green beans, and more. A decent selection of desserts. Food during my first visit was a tad on the salty side, but haven't had that issue on subsequent visits. Chow has been spot on. Service is quick and friendly. Price can't be beat. I'm withholding one star based on the menu. Standard fare from cover to cover, but a five star joint should have a unique, defining dish that sets it apart. Sunday chicken noodles might be it, but I'd love to see what else they can hash together in the kitchen. Nice place for a good lunch.
