So, be sure to watch their website and Facebook page for dates and details. If you're lucky enough to score tickets, you show up on the special day at the VanLandingham Estate for a drinks reception. You're assigned a bus and climb on board around 6pm. You'll be visiting 3 restaurants in East Charlotte but your destinations remain a surprise until you pull up to the spot. This year, we were on bus 6A and visited the Cooking Pot, La Shish Kabob and La Riviera Marisqueria. All the stops were amazing! My favorite was the Cooking Pot... that grass fed beef and joolaf though! Yum!! Every restaurant rolls out the red carpet for their visitors. You will be offered way more food than you can eat. So, pace yourself and don't go crazy at the first stop or you'll be in big trouble by the time you make it to the 3rd restaurant. Not to mention the desert and coffee reception awaiting you upon your return to the VanLandingham. This event seems to be staffed entirely by volunteers, all of whom are super friendly and knowledgeable. My only wish was they did it more than once a year! It makes me sad to think I have to wait until October 2017 for the next Taste of the World.

So many amazing options available to be tasted, with cost of admission. No need to buy tickets like other beer festivals I have been to. I especially loved Ass Clown Brewery - they had a great selection of sour beers to choose from, which are not easy to find. The aerial gymnasts were entertaining, as were the other side shows. Bathrooms were plentiful and the venue was way cleaner than I expected. My only 2 (minor) issues with the day were: 1 - you had to go out front to smoke, even though security was standing by back door as well. It was hot/stuffy in there, and I wanted fresh air ASAP! 2 - no local food, Panda Express was set up there. Didn't think that was befitting of a beer festival, especially in a city with delicious & unique local restaurants and/or food trucks. However, the few booths inside with food (the pretzels & hummus), kind of made up for the lack of local cuisine.

It was a much longer parade than I thought - hope for a warm day or you are standing out in the cold for hours. Many people get there early and line the parade route with camping chairs and blankets. Proceeds were benefitting the Habitat for Humanity, but you had to really look to find that out. The cost for us to get in was $20 since we purchased our tickets pretty early on. Prices fluctuated after a specified date. The average non-VIP patron paid around $30 when purchased early with those costs sky-rocketing later on. VIPs gained entrance at 12:30PM while the bottom feeders like myself had to wait an additional hour before the gates opened. I took the gamble and it paid off. We arrived around 1:15PM and a not-so-large group of VIPs were partaking. We were the 1st general admission folks in line, so we scored there. The line did rapidly expand afterwards, but it still wasn't horribly crowded. The entrance to the event was a bit discombobulated; staff and volunteers didn's seem to have a plan of action. The starting point and directions seemed to change a bit much for my taste. OInce the gates opened they checked my ID and tickets but failed to tell me what to do from there. I ended up missing the wristband and glasses so my early arrival was negated when I had to go back to the entrance to get these necessities. Once inside, and properly outfitted, we received a brochure listing the 20 or so breweries in attendance. We passed by some corn-hole games, volleyball beer pong, several vendors of food and fare and eventually were able to start trying out the different brews. The beers were mostly good. We took our time and decided to enjoy the experience since the lines weren't all that bad. Folks waited their turn and the everything moved along fairly rapidly. A positive aspect of this event was the water containers located at each brew tent for cleaning out glasses. I've been to several events where you had to go to a central cleaning area. That slowed things down. Here we were able to clean the glass and try the next brew in short order. One drawback was the lack of seating. While we never waited long to grab a chair, the total number of seats was lacking. Most people didn't hunker down, so it wasn't a big annoyance, but I think this could have been a little better laid out. We enjoyed the music more than most events. The groups engaged well and played a lot great tunes. Later in the afternoon we spent a good bit of time just singing along. Great choice in entertainment. As far as the rest, the event was attached to the Slate Billards so there were plenty of restrooms. When we arrived and didn't seem any porta-potties we were concerned, but Slate had that covered. Well done. This event was better than most. I think the tickets were priced fairly well and you go a lot for the price tag: especially if you purchased early. Kudos! I'll be back.

His voice was solid: perfect pitch, smooth and buttery. He looked handsome all dressed up in a suit and shiny shoes. I would have liked to have seen more performances from his fantastically talented musicians. In addition, I think the show could have been even more entertaining to have dancers on stage or on the floor for some of his songs...he may not want to share the spotlight and maybe his fans just want to see him, but if they were to enhance the show, those two things would do it. You could tell the guys that were dragged there by their girls, mine being one of them. However, at the end, even George admitted that it was a good concert. It was fun, his voice was remarkable, and I have good memories from it.

After waiting for 20 minutes nobody ever greeted us, nobody asked what time our appointment was and it seemed like disarray. Ultimately they may be good teachers but our first experience was awful so we left and continue to look for quality teachers at a professional organization. #bad
