AVOID THIS PLACE! I have been getting pedis for decades and this was by far the worst spa experience I've ever had. It was my stepmom's bday and she had never had a pedicure so I was excited to take her. We walked in and after a minute or two, a woman came out of the back and rudely asked us what we wanted. I told her I called about two pedicures and she didn't say anything. She said something in her native language to someone in the back and then a guy came out and walked over to the pedi chairs. I asked him which two we should sit in - no response. He turned the water on in two of the tubs so we assumed that's where we should sit. The man sat in front of my stepmom and the woman sat in front of me. They just started going in on our feet without any discussion on what we were doing. I told them we wanted to get gel pedis and I asked for a menu. The lady filed my toenails and they were severely crooked. I pointed this out 3x and she only continued to file and make them worse. So I politely asked for the file to fix them. At this point, she was shaving them down so much that I didn't have much nail growth to even fix the crookedness. She was so offended that I asked for the file. I am extremely non-confrontational - it makes me so uncomfortable - so asking for the file wasn't easy but I reminded myself of all the bad pedicures I have walked out with in the past because I didn't speak up. As for the guy, he was heavily filing my stepmom's toes and she repeatedly asked him to trim them down first instead. He ignored her completely and she looked at me like "is this normal?" The female tech said something to him in their native language and he ignored her, too. It truly seemed like he didn't speak English at all and didn't really care about the customer's request. Then the female told us that she would trim my stepmom's nails herself at the end of the service. What???? Being that it was my stepmom's birthday, I chose the most expensive package ($75) plus an extra $15 pp for gel. So that's a total of $180 plus tip that I was willing to spend. A woman walked in maybe 5 minutes into our services and asked for a full set mani and a pedi. The guy magically spoke English just fine, enough to tell her yes and to have a seat at a nail table and he would be right with her. I'm sorry? We just sat down for $90 pedicures! You could immediately tell that he was working faster than before and was going to rush my stepmom's service. I wasn't having it. I told the female tech that we actually were only going to do the base pedi package, which was still $55 pp plus tip. Oh boy...she was PISSED. Started huffing and puffing and telling me she already started the service. I told her yes, but we JUST started and were only at the scrub stage (which smells like Lysol btw) and hadn't yet had any of the extras (mud mask, etc) that come with the highest price package. She told me she was using some special organic scrub that apparently doesn't come with the base package. I told her I would be happy to pay extra for the "organic" scrub, which honestly sounded like a bunch of boloney. She kept pushing and telling me she was already giving me the $75 service. A few very awkward moments passed where she was increasingly rough with me and my feet. She said, "ok so we are doing the $75 package" and I looked at her and said "no, we are only doing the base service." She started throwing things in her cart and speaking very angrily in her language to her co-worker. It was the most awkward, uncomfortable service that I have ever paid for in my life, not to mention this was all happening on my stepmom's bday during her very first pedicure ever. They wrapped up our pedis very quickly and walked away. All I could do was apologize to my stepmom and explain that this was far from normal. We walked up to the counter to pay and not a word was said. I paid using the pay station (TIP INCLUDED) and said "thank you" to her. She literally waved her hand at me as if to dismissively say "go away" and she turned and walked away. DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE A DIME!!! read more

Uncomfortable experience. The guy nail tech kept tapping my hand with a file, pulling my fingers, and repeatedly telling me to "relax" in a rude way. I asked for another technician and was refused. I've had my nails done before and never been treated like this I ended up leaving before my nails were finished, even after paying. Would not return!! read more

This salon is under new ownership. Thang has been doing my nails for years and is great. He's quick, does a perfect job and the wait time, if any, is very short. The nails are very strong, I've broken and chipped a couple at my own fault and he always welcomes me in to fix them at no charge. The pedicures are great. Everything is very clean and sanitary. I do a pedicure every 3-4 weeks and my toes have rarely chipped. Not sure why there are comments about friendliness. Everyone is very nice and friendly but they do not speak great/much English so it's hard for them to have conversations. It doesn't personally bother me at all. Highly recommend. read more

So my Daughter Goes in because I bought her a $100 Gift card 2yrs ago. They speak very little English and the "Hearts" the Nail Dude painted on her nails looked like Mickey Mouse Ears. God forbid she said something because the non-English speaking man became Temperamental and rough as he attempted to correct his poor work. Check-out time, it turns out the place has a new Owner But has the Same Name. They refused to honor her $100 Gift Card and so the whole Disaster cost her $215...Who does Business like that..??...Never would I recommend a shady place like this. May Salon has the nicest pedicure chairs I've ever seen. (I'm retired). We were downtown having lunch & called at 2:15 & we were able to get in at 2:45. I was quoted $35 to have my nails done. I chose a basic color, did nothing special and was charged $60!!! Almost double what I was quoted. My nails are crooked which I wouldnt normally complain about however, for $60 I would have chosen a design or something special. 3 different people did my nails. I assume i must have came at break or as they were getting off work as 2 of the people left. I tried to argue with her that I was told $35 but she argued back that nails are always $60. I have never paid that in my life for basic nails... The most expensive place in Boise! In speaking with 2 other friends, they have also been here in the past and went through very similar with being charged more than quoted. Very dishonest. This experience is based on three visits for service. June 2nd: I went during their weekend rush hour, around 1-2 pm on a Saturday. I asked for a regular gel manicure and was seated at 1:35. I was out within 10 minutes and at Starbucks by 1:49. The older gentleman who did my service cut me during the cuticle cleaning and then applied the polish. I was charged $60, gave a $100 bill, and got back two $20 bills. I asked for change for one of the $20 bills, and he brought back two $10 bills. When I asked for further change, the older gentleman said they didn't have any. I said okay, and he kept $10 for an 8-minute manicure. The total paid was $70 for a manicure that chipped within two days. June 16th: On this day, I arrived 40 minutes before closing, and they said they could fit me in. I went in for a manicure and pedicure and again got the older gentleman. He did my pedicure very quickly, with no cleaning under the nail, and no other basic care. The pedicure was $50, plus gel, plus a French tip design, totaling $75 for just the pedicure. He gave the most mediocre pedicure with an attitude. The French tip on my left side was okay, but the right side looked like a Nike symbol--thick on one end and thin and curved on the other. When I asked him to fix it, he refused. I then walked over to get my manicure from the younger guy, who gave me a great manicure and fixed the nail on my toe, though my toes ended up two different colors. I walked out paying $50 for a gel manicure, plus $75 for the pedicure, plus a $20 tip, totaling $145 for mismatched toenails and a basic manicure. June 23rd: Today, I went in around 12:05. They were busy and asked me to come back within 20 minutes, which I did. I just wanted my toenails to be one color and to fix my manicure that had already chipped and cracked. I walked back in at 12:30, was seated, and waited another 10 minutes. The technician then laughed about the two different color toenails. Halfway through the pedicure, she said she could not do a manicure anymore because they were too busy and needed to seat someone else. She asked me to come back tomorrow for the manicure. At that point, I told her it was okay, she could stop the pedicure, and I would pay $40 for the polish removal and water soak I had already received. She then left and came back with a super hot towel that burned me. They started speaking in Vietnamese and then said they could do the manicure. At that point, I just slipped into my sneakers with my toes still wet and paid $40. If you want to waste your money and time, then by all means, go here. They'll do their best to rush you out, take your money, talk badly about you, burn you, and cut you. read more

I showed up early for my appointment; 3 hours early. Even though they had a steady steam of customers already, they got me in and were very nice about it. The gentleman applied a full set of acrylics and was very gentle with my hands. What I didn't tell him was that I have arthritis, the connective tissue is braking down and I'm in pain almost all the time. However he was so gentle with me it was the first time I was able to walk away after a nail appointment without my hands being swollen and inflamed. They have my loyalty for that alone, but they also did a really nice job. read more

Absolutely terrible service. I walked in and told the lady I wanted a full set of acrylics, sat down with the gentleman. He asked me what shape I wanted, I made the motion with my fingers and audibly said pointy stiletto, but a little shorter. He said okay and started away. He clipped my first nail and I told him it was too short for what I wanted the result to be. He rudely asked the lady over to translate, I told her and even showed a picture. He spoke in his native language and I instantly was uncomfortable. He refused to reglue tips to correct it, slapped my hands away to go wash them. Overall was just very very rude. He spoke in his native language when I refused to tip him and said he was very rude and my nails weren't anywhere what I asked for. 10/10 will not be returning to this place. If you don't want to do customer service with a language barrier then you should work on your skills of being nice. read more

I only go here for pedicures but I've always been really happy with my experience. Sometimes they get busy and its best to make an appointment but for the most part I've been able to walk in and receive service in a short amount of time. I went in for a pedi & their basic pedi is $30 and specifically states on the sign no hot towel & no heel scrub/ callus removal. And it's $30 before any extras like art & tip! These ladies do an amazing job! Since moving to Idaho, it has taken me almost 3-4 years to find a few good salons to go to for my nails, and this definitely is one of them! I've come here for pedicures and left very happy with the result and relaxed! But the time that they really "wowed" me was during my 3-month acrylic nail streak. Each set lasted about 3 weeks and did not chip, peel or lift. They also put a top gel coat on that helped keep this from happening. It was a bit expensive to go all out, but absolutely worth it for how amazing they looked and how long they lasted. I decided to stop keeping up with my nails to let them grow out and save money, but should I have a special event come up--this is the place I would go to pamper myself and get my nails done! Nail services aside, the ladies that work here are so friendly--Tina is my favorite (I highly recommend that you request her). I had a span of 8 months where I didn't come in and she remembered me and the friend that I had come in with the last time--incredible! The only thing I did not like about my experience(s) here was that they had a TV on playing criminal minds the whole time. It's just not the kind of relaxing background noise you hope to find at a nail salon. (I'm chuckling as I write this, it's not a big deal...just kind of funny!) read more

I must have just caught this place on a bad day because looking at the reviews, and then seeing what I received, is a polar opposite. I went in to have my acrylics replaced and powder on top. Somehow, I got into an argument with the nail tech about the fact that I wanted tips put on under the acrylic and that I didn't want my natural nail used. She tried to convince me that my natural nail was good, when I know that I have nails that peel and chip and break and I have a very handsy job so that was not going to be a good option for me. I wanted her to cut my natural nail down and put on the tips. She fought me on this and even bitched at me for it after I had made the decision. That was the first time I almost got up and walked out. Now, I've been to beauty school.. I know what the application of acrylics is. You glue on tips and then layer acrylic over the top of the entire nail....this lady did something I have NEVER seen before. She put on the powder FIRST, at the end of my nail on top of the tips and THEN put the acrylic on the rest of it. It was the weirdest thing I have ever seen, and it didn't make any sense at all. SO now I would have to grow out this giant blue tip that she had just put on my nail in order to have my nails a different color in two weeks. Not possible. Instead of being able to shave off the color like they usually do - there was no way they could do that. It was blue all the way to the bottom. No acrylic on the tip...just powder. WTF That was the SECOND time I almost walked out. Next, she was SUPER rough with me, and cut me twice. Feeling the acrylic in my open cuts was not the most pleasant thing I had felt all day. But her attitude was the worst part. She was bitching the entire time about how I had chosen tips...and how I had chosen powder...Lady they're MY nails. I want to do what I WANT with them. Not what YOU want. Nevertheless I was just happy to get out of there after *ahem* TWO AND A HALF HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has never taken me more than an hour to do an entire set of nails including removal of old nails. I was so frustrated. Oh ya and don't forget the price! $60 baby! Didn't realize I was back in Vegas... After THREE DAYS my nails started coming up and I was PISSED. I went over to Sassy Nails in Meridian and they fixed it right away, gave me a fresh new set and I walked in and out in 40 minutes and spent $40. I will never go anywhere else again, I learned my lesson!!! read more

I am so happy and pleased that this place has opened! Since I moved here from San Francisco I had yet to find a good neighborhood manicure/pedicure/wax place. It is very clean. Prices are in line with Boise- $40 for mani/pedi (but I took advantage of their Spring $35 Special). The owners are always there working (and they are both very good at nails). I went in on my lunch, had a thorough and very relaxing pedicure and manicure that included a leg and foot scrub and massage. My nail tech was conscious of my time and I walked out looking and feeling great! I have found my new nail spot!! Great place for a quickie or they have the full services so you could make a day of it. read more

3 stars Update! After only one week my gel manicure started to peel and crack and after 2 weeks it looked just plain bad. At my standard go to nail place my regular gel manicure would last me almost one month! For this reason I am down grading from four to three stars. I usually go to a different nail salon I love; but they were really busy and I just wanted a quick gel change so I thought I'd try here again (it's near my home and they advertise $15 gel color). I've been here before years ago and liked it, but stopped coming when I overpaid for a pedicure and they used something I was allergic to in the soak water. This time I came in and it was busy, but the lady at the door told me to sit at the center waiting table and look at colors. I had sat down less than a minute before another lady grabbed my things and told me to sit at a manicure table. She started filing off the previous gel and put my fingers to soak in a bowl of acetone. I'm used to the individual finger tin foil soak-off but didn't think much of it. Until nearly 20 minutes passed! The only woman who spoke English (mostly) walked past me multiple times while I was sitting there but finally sat down after 18 minutes of my hands in acetone. She asked me multiple times what color I wanted and I explained I hadn't had a chance to look through the colors because my hands had been in bowls of acetone for 20 minutes. She got a bit nasty and said "only 10. It's better for your nails than me filing all the color off." At this point I considered just paying for the soak-off and leaving, but I was honestly too frustrated to try to do so civilly. She asked if I wanted just color or nail care - her trimming my acetone trashed cuticles cost me an extra $5. There was supposed to be a moisturizing soak and hand & arm massage with it, but I didn't get either. She did do a good job on cuticle care (though she pulled the cuticle a lot while trimming them) and shaping my nails. The color was well-applied but the top coat had a few sticky spots after the light cure. There are very few people you can communicate with directly here. The one woman I dealt with was translating for the other women working, and when things were too difficult to translate she asked the customer to wait and she would just do it. The woman that helped me wasn't easy to communicate with, so I'm guessing that's where a lot of former yelpers issues with not getting what they wanted/being overcharged comes from. Also, her daughter is adorable - but when I'm spending $28 for a manicure (and already stressed by the mom's lack of professionalism) I don't want a young kid asking me "what color?" Repeatedly, constantly asking her mom questions, or getting into things and making noise. I'm paying to be pampered - not getting 1/4 of someone's attention, a bad attitude, and super-dry hands from chemical soaking. Won't be giving this shop a third chance. Sorry. read more

I've come here a few times to get pedicures and each time they have done a wonderful job. Tina did an amazing job and was very friendly.

I did a gel manicure and it was really thick and started lifting 3 days later. It was so disappointing.

I know I shouldn't review a place after leaving upset, but I couldn't let my 5 star rating remain. I had such a great time going into this place 6 months ago and today was a train wreck in comparison. We set an appointment time, went in 10 minutes early and the shop just let 4 walk-ins sit down in and start up. So when we started, the ladies were in a rush to finish us up. The pedicure was rushed through the steps and sloppy. We had setup manicures and pedicures, but we waited 30-45 minutes after our pedicures and we're ready to go. We went to cash out and they still charged us for both the manicure and pedicure. Personally I'm not going back, my biggest problem is that they neglect folks with appointments. I left my previous review below: "What can I say, the previous 5 star reviews were right! The only thing not mentioned is the awesome work of Tina and Sandy! Yes Henry is a huge aspect to the business and it wouldn't be the same without him. Matter fact he is quite entertaining in a conversation and a perfectionist at work. Let them talk you into having a drink, they go out of their way to cater to you. The pedicure we received was a signature package for a reasonable price. We had fruit and additives added to our foot soak. The package had no shortage of features. Great time and great product! We will return!!" Thanks! read more

Do a good job, Little pricey compared to what I'm used to. But I moved here from the north end, the fill over there is about $20 a fill at Mays is about $30. But all in all they do a really good job and I like Tina so it's my new home read more

Update 5/2018 - The atmosphere has been getting progressively worse/unprofessional. We went for a pedi last weekend and had two major issues- 1) we both asked for the basic but somehow were charged for an upgraded pedi (2nd time this has happened). 2) one of the employee's young daughter (5ish) was there (she's there a lot on weekends at least) and while I understand and want to support working mothers, the little girl wanders around the clients while watching sing-song children's shows on her iPad loud enough that each client can hear it. Having a pedi is a special treat for us when we want to feel pampered. Listening to Barbie sing songs doesn't lend itself to a spa like environment. I wish them the best but we won't be back. Our new favorite pedicure spot on the Boise Bench! We were greeted right away, offered water and a great pedi chair. Their service was good w/attention to detail. Recently moved to Boise and still searching for a good nail salon. I came here based on the reviews, but won't be back. I was in for a fill. I kept telling the woman I wanted a rounded square shape, basically how my nails already looked. She just couldn't seem to understand what I wanted. She filed a few of the nails so weird that that narrowed too much on one side, making my nail look crooked. Also some weren't even straight across, they had like a dip in them. The nail polish selection wasn't great either. The polish I ended up picking was so thick and old, and basically empty. The paint job looked like something I could've done on my own, and she didn't even paint the front tips of the nails, so they already looked beat up when I left. read more

My first time going and had Kim. She is a 5 star!! So, fast forward to my next fill. I walk in and Kim is not there. Tina fixemy two broken tips wn did the fill. Her appointment walked in so I was shed to move to the guy there. He pretended like he knew what he was doing although he did not pull my skin away from the acrylic from the sides.he was readylto paint. I had to tell him to clean out under the nails, file the sides, and at the end I had to tell him to use the smoothing file cube. for some reason on my middle finger he just kept on filing the sides. I told him to STOP!! It idmore pointed than the rest of my fingernails. In fact none of the nails match in width. Like the index fingers don't match, the middle fingers don't match, widths are all different.The acrylic is gloppy all around the cuticle area. Expressing my concern I was still charged full price and Tina said next time I will do them for you. If you go to this place, only ask for Kim. Not happy at this point. Where do I start? I had to tell them more than once that the nails weren't the same, when I got home I had to correct the crooked ones myself. While they were filing, it burnt. I told them it hurts and that it was burning my nail bed, I got a head nod and they just continued. I told them I wanted a certain length, I was told that I wouldn't like it- and they were cut way shorter than I wanted. I reviewed the heck out of it before I went in.
