First, great location for myself as it is 5 minutes away from my house. But this is the second time I've gotten my hair done here and I love my hair! This time, I got passion twists and they gave me an estimated time of 4 hours and it took three! I get so many compliments and my box braids lasted two months without a touch up. I'd definitely recommend getting your hair done here. The braiders are top notch. I took away a star though partly for the location, even though it is convenient for me, it is very small 4 car parking lot shared with two other businesses. Also, cash only with no ATM at location. My singles haven't been up a month and they're just raggedy. My hair sticks out of the braid, braiding hair to my hair ratio was very uneven. I had several different sized braids in the middle where I couldn't see. There are better braiders out there. I got my hair braided yesterday 1/21/19 and I am satisfied with the work overall. I was a bit disappointed when the girl who braided my hair wanted to up the price by $25 after she saw the length of my hair, (past my shoulder). I told her what I was quoted by Maya and she said "oh because she did not see your hair" I said "I told her how long my hair was and that's why she quoted me the price". I paid my quoted price. I also thought that their hair was more expensive than the beauty supply at $5 a pack. I was actually referred to this place by a longtime customer if theirs who raved about this place so I said OK finally a place I can go and get my hair done right. Well, I called Friday and spoke to a older lady ( didn't get her name) right off the bat she didn't seem happy to speak to me when I asked if they were operating during pandemic she asks and I quote " what do you want?" Oh im sorry I said I was referred to you by a existing customer ( 2 to be exact) and I wanted to make an appointment to get my hair braided. She asked if I was buying hair from them which I replied no due to previous hairstylist different salon flaked and never showed to appointment. She scoffed at the fact that I had my own hair. And it was like pulling teeth to get a quote. So I still proceeded with making appointment I really want it done for my birthday and arranged for Mon 10/5/2020 at 9am Something told me to call and confirm since I hadn't received a reminder call/text letting me know they are expecting me and again I got the same lady telling me "oh I was gonna call you can you do 2pm instead of 9am and that maya will be doing my hair." I initially agreed but said why do I have to cancel my pre made plans when I asked for 9am instead of 2pm n Fri and I have other affairs to tend to ( no I can't I requested 9am for a reason) and I probably would have if you called earlier in the day letting me know you had a schedule change. I received a text of address which per google shows as a smog place nothing clarified in text that this is new shop although internet may say something different......I cancelled....im very disappointed that this didn't go as I expected especially since I heard good things about this place and expected the same customer service. I wasn't going to leave any feedback because finding a braider is so hard but I came in last Tuesday with my hair already combed out and the lady that did it raked a hot blow dryer thru my already dry, prepped hair. And then today someone noticed that the back of my head has about 4-5 red braids when my hair and the braiding hair is orange. When I told the other lady (not maya) that I wanted 350 she said it was (350) then noticed it didn't match my hair saying it was labeled wrong which was fine. But I expected her not to leave red braids in my hair after she said she'll take them out. I also sent a reference photo of what I wanted (chest length single box braids with blunt ends) which I did not get after it was confirmed that they could be done. I did get some uneven braids that was braided down (plaited) about 4-5 times then a single braid with tapered ends. Not happy at all for $200. I should have left when she combed my hair with a hot blow dryer. I did not complain because it was a lot of disappointment and they have numerous signs saying no refunds. Smh read more

I'm confused as to how this is a HAIR braiding shop without the most commonly used hair. I'm also confused as to why I wasn't told this before I arrived at the appointment. I had to drive to a beauty supply store & pick up hair. Also, I provided a picture of how I wanted my hair and the braids are extremely thin and & not at all the thickness I wanted replicated from the picture. I went in yesterday 1/21 for Senegalese twists but was told my twa was too short and I would have to get singles. Maybe that was my fault because I took the chance by not blow drying beforehand to prevent adding heat to my hair. I spoke with Maya a week before to make the appointment which she quoted me three different prices for the service, so I was prepared to pay for the highest amount. I was annoyed during my service when I had to ask to add gel to prevent frizzies and she stated it doesn't need it because it would be slippery for her. It took 6 hrs to do singles and I had three people on my hair! I do not like when I have multiple people on my head because the results may not be consistent. Maya started the braid then two other people finish the ends. My ends are unraveling and I have to rebraid them. The braids are good but I didn't like at the end of my service the hidden braid fee of $20 she added by using her hair. Maybe I'm just used to the pricing and service in NYC but I could fly back to NYC for the same service. read more

Where do I start? First of all, Maya has been late the majority of appointments I had with her. All of her Braiders have customers with no edges and they continue to plat braids on whatever hair they have left on their customer. I asked Maya for two French braids, she had the audacity to tell me that she couldn't do two French braids because they hurt her hands, meanwhile she does an entire head of singles EVERYDAY. If you're a black woman you know how much work singles are. On top of it all, she asked me to pick another hairstyle as if I i were a child. I thought about it for about 10 minutes, she adamantly kept asking me if I found one and I told her no because I had already had my mind made up. When in actuality, it wasn't about her hands hurting because if that were the case she would need to stop braiding hair . It was about the price, she regularly charged me $50, she's used to braiding a whole head of singles for $170 and up, so she felt like making up an excuse rather than saying it was about the money. I say all this to say, not only is she a liar, she's unprofessional as well, her quality of work is not bad but I will never go back to her ever again. These homeland African women don't really like African American women, they're conditioned to treat us like we're beneath them and I'm not having it. Find a better Braider! read more

Went to get hair done by Maya on 5/11/19, found this salon based on yelp search and reviews. Maya communicates well via phone and text, she is on time and ready to work, she listens to request and is Fast braiding. I have long thick natural hair and was able to get hair braided, dip etc in 2hrs 58 mins Hahahah. I definitely recommend, you will NOT have a sore or scalp and your hair will NOT feel heavy. I got 2 layer feed ins! Only thing is 4 of the braids I can see may natural hair demarkation, where my real hair ends and the extension braids are. However, it does not look horrible and it could be due to how I wrap and sleep. I am very PARTICULAR and anal about my hair, I would definitely recommend for someone looking for braids, fast and doesn't hurt. read more
