The restaurant is named for tacos after all. The carne asada tacos were pretty good. 4 out of 5 stars. Fresh ingredients, good quality meat. But the taco shell of the gringo disintegrated before a bite was taken. They do have a lot of taco options so that's a plus if you plan to visit. Usually, the sauce is close to a gravy consistency, it's smokey from the chiles, not a strong heat, a hint of sweet from the chocolate, savory etc. The chicken should also be to a point where it's fork tender, you do not need much to take the meat off the bone. Tepache's mole was alright. The sauce was a little thinned out, leaned salty and made it hard for the other flavors to come through. The dish was also supposed to come with tortillas and I didn't realize till I put it in a to-go box that I wasn't given them. Twenty-five dollars for mole is a steal because it is a difficult and time consuming thing to make, but only if it's REALLY GOOD. And this one was just okay. Overall though I still want to come back and try out other menu items. I wouldn't suggest the Mole, but I am curious about other things.
