Great new place in Ladysmith, just up the hill from the LMS Marina. Tequila flights are awesome! Tapas style menu with lots of selection, the fresh board has excellent suggestions, and they are able to accommodate gluten free options. Food was extremely tasty and the cocktail menu has some great ideas. 2nd time we have gone here, the quality is still the same, same great service. Food is awesome! What a find in a small BC town! After two months on our boat we were glad to touch land and find this fabulous fusion Spanish/Mexican tapas restaurant. We loved it so much we came back the next night!! Thursday had live music, and Michael the musician was amazing. Friday was packed, so get reservations and sit on the lovely patio if weather permits. We had a Spanish red wine that was lovely and a number of tapas both nights. I think we worked our way through 3/4 of the menu. So what to order? Street corn, blistered beans, the almond dip, chorizo fritters, the empanada, beet salad, ribs, well anything really. Just don't eat lunch and order it all! Loved the atmosphere on Maya Norte's patio. Glad I got there early as it filled up quick (as expected for Friday nights anywhere). There was a lot of selection to choose from, from both the regular tapas menu and the black board specials. Between two of us we chose 4 tapas which were small but satisfying. The lime prawns and roasted Brie are delicious! I will certainly be going back again. It's only expensive if you order a lot of tapas and want to fill up on a lot of food, otherwise it's reasonably priced if you are there to just drink and snack. You get what you pay for. Service was decent and speedy. read more

We were in Ladysmith for the first time and this is the first restaurant we visited. First, it's so cute, quaint, and charming. And they have a specials board as you walk in that is almost like a rotating whole menu! We tried the salsas (verde and pico) and got the chorizo bean dip. Excellent. Then the corn fritters with chipotle aioli. Wow. Did I mention a strawberry daiquiri and traditional margarita made by Germaine (sp?)...outstanding. Plus, he's so entertaining that I recommend sitting at the bar. Lastly, pork tacos and goat cheese....fantastic. And inexpensive. Loved it. read more

This restaurant is over-priced for their food. The menu items "small plates" are very over-priced for the small servings. As we entered, waitress directed us to "take a picture" of black board for menu items so we could make decision at table. After ordering, waitress came back to state black board menu items were not current and some out of stock since prior day so we should make different selections. Food was over-rated and not special in any regard especially being extemely minimal. Be sure to check your bill, two items were over-charged two times before the bill was corrected for the third time . Quite a disappointing experience overall and will not recommend. read more

What a gem! We walked in on a Saturday night having been to Ladysmith once before but not knowing about this restaurant. There was a good musician playing guitar and saxophone and singing. The restaurant was small but bright and beautifully decorated with a playful Day of the Dead theme. The four of us shared about 10 tapas plates and a bottle of wine. The food, wine, and service were all excellent! My favorites were the scallop ceviche and the Mexican green beans. At the end, the bill plus 20% tip was about $50 for two. We will return to Ladysmith to eat here. And next time we will have a margarita! read more

The best Mexican/Catalàn tapas on Vancouver Island!! Excellent seafood and unique flavour parings. Pricey as sharing plates usually only have 5 morsels of whatever, but worth it... just expect to order at least 4 plates if sharing with one other person. They even have tequila tasting flights, but so far I've stayed with the margaritas :-) Oh, and the chocolate/chilli mousse dessert is delicious! read more

We are visiting Ladysmith from Vancouver and wanted to try this restaurant on the basis of its high Yelp rating. We ordered the calamari, bean soup, and a couple of veggie dishes (green beans and beets/spinach/goat cheese), as well as sides of beans and rice. The calamari was fine but undersized at $13. There are many local restaurants in Vancouver where I can have a calamari appetizer for half the price, and twice the size. The green beans were steamed, not seasoned at all, and served on some kind of mustard sauce (a bizarre combination in my opinion). The bean side dish was miniscule and absolutely flavorless. I've honestly had better tasting beans from a can. The rice side dish was also laughably small and I poorly flavored; I couldn't eat more than a spoonful. The beet dish was fine. Right after we left we drove to the nearest A&W because I was still hungry, even though our bill was over $50. read more

Last time I had tapas I was in Tarifa Spain and sure can't complain about the quality of food or service.. I loved the scallops and anchovies .. plus the elegant goat cheese and onion chutney dish.
