I usually get the BBQ chicken sub it is sooooooo freaking good. Please don't tell my mom that Maya's makes a better sandwich! The Pannini-style is grilled perfectly, and I just love everything I've ordered. The $5 lunch deal (generous sandwich and fountain drink) is a steal, and everything is made exactly how you request. Turkey or tuna are my faves, and I can hardly go to Home Depot next door without feeling the urge to stop at Maya's. You won't have "burger guilt" after eating here. read more

What a awesome deli!!! If you want a great sandwich for a awesome price , go here ! There sandwiches are so filling and they are not cheap when it comes to the meat. So many options and so hard to choose a sandwich, you need to go back multiple times. But that doesn't bother me. The staff is so friendly , they basically know what I want when I walk in. I tried this place for a lunch vegetarian sandwich in El Cajon. It did not disappoint. I enjoyed the quality of the lettuce, toasted rye bread, and avocado on the California healthy sandwich. The food is always made from fresh ingredients and fresh bread, parking is plentiful and you can find parking and walk few steps, not to mention the prices, they are very affordable and very reasonable. My mom and I went to grab a couple of sandwhiches today. Mom had a turkey on a french roll, it was decent except the turkey. The turkey is very poor quality and tastes kinda fishy. The bread was ok. I had a turkey sandwich on wheat. My bread was moldy. I returned it and she said it was the bakery's fault and told me it wasn't mold that it was burnt. But you clearly see that it was mold. She replaced my sandwhich and it was fine. Customer service was very good but the meat is poor quality. We will not be returning here. read more

I saw this restaurant on my way to the Home Depot and decided to give it a shot. The lady at the cashier was very customer oriented. I would say that this little place has good sandwiches, however they could really use more meat! I got a #12 turkey, ham, and roast beef and got two pieces of each of my footlong sub!!! It was alright though cause the bread was fresh and it was over all a good sandwich. However if you are REALLY hungry, as I was, I would recommend going somewhere else read more

Maya's is nestled in strip mall , with simple set up inside with plain decor and small tables/chairs. It's definitely a ma and pa type deli. They have really reasonable prices with daily lunch specials. I REALLY wanted to like this place and give it a good review. I was excited to come check it out and had high hopes for my breakfast ham, egg, and cheese croissant.....but they were not met. While my breakfast croissant was really large and well-priced, it just tasted bad. The ham tasted weird, the egg layer of the sandwich was really thick and had some grey parts.....it was also flavorless.... I was so bummed to be disappointed in the food, and I had hoped that this would be a cool new lunch/breakfast place for me to check out being that its close to my work.....but alas....i'll have to look elsewhere. HOWEVER- this is a deli and specializes in sandwiches and I got a breakfast croissant, maybe they fail in the breakfast category but feature incredible lunch fare? I dont know....but I at least know i'll never eat breakfast here again. read more

I've gone to this place many times and always been satisfied but today when I ordered my chicken salad it had definitely come across some tuna salad on its way to my plate, which wouldn't be that big of a deal unless you're allergic to tuna like I am. This is the best Deli in El Cajon. Over the past four years I have always had the BEST tasting sandwich at Maya's. I am a very particular about size, taste and presentation which is excellent at Maya's. I routinely try other Deli's like Antonelli's to determine if Maya's is still the best. Maya's is still the BEST and a nice place to eat. I eat at Maya' s three to four times a week. Also they make their own homemade soup which is very good. read more
