I ordered the country fried steak, and the fact that they make the gravy homemade was a huge hit. The potatoes were cooked to perfection and super flavorful. I also got a side of corned beef hash, and it was amazing - most places are hit or miss with that, but they definitely did it right here. The beans were good, and I also tried some of the banana pecan caramel waffle. If I could leave 0 stars I would. My family and I went to go enjoy breakfast at Gus's like we do every Sunday after church and we had some of the most terrible service that completely shocked us because it was unusual. We had a party of 6 which can be hard to accommodate which is understandable. We walked in and was told by one of the workers grab a menu and find any seat and we will be with you shortly so we did. We found a table outside to the right but we were right in the sun so we moved to a table with shade. All of the sudden the young waitress says, "If you're going to move you need to tell us. " and I responded the worker up front said to grab a seat whenever that's what we were doing. The young waitress responded, "Ok well next time you need to tell us you're moving." With the most disrespectful attitude. She then spoke disrespectfully to elders at the tables saying, "if you're going to move again you need to tell me." And at that point she crossed the line. I've never seen someone speak to customers with that kind of attitude and disrespect. Before all of this she was man handling all of our silverware and was tossing it on the table for us to use. Absolutely ZERO respect or customer service was given. The young waitress also had long nails and was giving us our drinks by grabbing it at the top touching the drink/ice with her finger and nails. This just added to the horrible experience. Long story short once the young waitress started talking back to us customers and specifically the elders at the table that was when we decided to leave and take our business elsewhere because of the complete rudeness and disrespect. Unfortunately we will NEVER be coming back because it seems like they got new waitresses that don't know anything about customer service. Would NOT recommend anyone to come here who wants to enjoy a meal. read more

We decided to try this place out since we like eating subs. I decided to try out their "famous chicken cheesesteak". Honestly, not really sure how it is famous. The flavor profile was good, and the portion was generous. The sandwhich however was sliced in half, and so when you go to pick it up, the ingredients fall right out. The picture is what the sandwich ended up as. The ingredient are simple: chicken, cheese, onions and mushrooms. The chicken was over cooked and was very rubbery and difficult to eat. I was disappointed to not see other cheesesteak ingredients like bell peppers. All in all, for $31+ for two people who only got sandwiches, it was...an experience. Don't get me wrong, the flavor was good, my suggestion would be to make the sandwich more like a sub where the bread doesn't allow the ingredients to fall out, add bell peppers and lastly to not overcook the chicken. read more

Guss' is an old-school, casual restaurant where the orders go to the cook on pieces of paper. I kind of like that. You order at the counter and pick up your food when it's ready. I was introduced to Gus's for the pastrami, and that's all I've ordered here. We came on a recent, extremely rainy January evening (2023) to celebrate National Pastrami Sandwich Day. We ordered 2 9-inch pastrami subs (there's also a larger size, 15-inch, I believe) and 2 orders of fries. There were a lot of fries...should have just ordered one order. Order was ready within a reasonable amount of time, and everything was delicious. I took half of my sub and fries home, though. Servings are large. Prices are reasonable for what you get. Counter service was friendly enough. Large parking lot. One unisex restroom that was clean but had 7 (I counted) air fresheners. I know it's called Gus's subs and pizza, but their breakfast was awesome! My boyfriend and I came in this morning (Sunday at 9 am) and it was BUSY. Every indoor table was either taken or looked like someone had just left. We took our menus and chose a table outside. We were greeted with waters quickly and I asked for a cup of coffee. Our server came back with coffee quickly and shortly after was ready for our order. I got the special oatmeal and my boyfriend got the Pastrami Benedict. Food came out super fast! My bowl of oatmeal was HUGE. Topped with walnuts, blueberries, and bananas, and sides of brown sugar, golden raisins, and milk. The pastrami benedict was excellent. Eggs were poached perfectly, and the pastrami was a generous portion. The home fries with onions and peppers were delicious! It was so much food, we took the oatmeal with us. At such a reasonable price, it was worth every penny. Our server was attentive and topped off my coffee twice. It was obvious she was busy, but we were in and out in less than 45 minutes. Been coming to Gus's for a few years now. Foods always good and a fair price for what it is. However, recently the cooks have become obstinate dickheads, refusing simple requests such as cooking things in a particular way. Most recently, I asked that my home fries were cooked so that they LOOKED as though they'd been passed through the deep fryer. The waitress politely advised they're not allowed to do that, to which I responded I understood which is why I said "LOOKED LIKE" as a reference for how crispy I wanted them and she acknowledged. When the food finally came out, the potatoes were practically raw! I asked her if she could have them cooked a bit longer so they'd be crispy. She takes them back to the kitchen and 10 minutes later she brings back a plate with HALF THE POTATOES MISSING and on top of that they had not even been re-cooked but rather, MICROWAVED!!! She tells me the cooks said "this is as crispy as they can get them" which was basically raw and ever so slightly seared on one side. As I've said, I've been going to Gus's for years and this has never been an issue until recent visits but this is the first time I've sent any food back to be cooked more. Perhaps they've just hired new, lazy cooks. Either way, I won't be going back for a good while if at all. read more

10/10 Family owned restaurant that gives me diner vibes. Come support a local business that is doing a great job. They have so much more than just subs and pizza. I came for breakfast and boy are prices affordable! With inflation on the rise, so is eating out these days. Therefore when I find a place that serves great food at reasonable prices, I'm all in. We are lucky to be a mile to this great place. Their breakfasts are fantastic, we love their outdoor seating, and their Greek Pizza is phenomenal. And this is from someone who grew up in New Jersey! They are also willing to grill the onions on the Greek Pizza instead of putting them on raw. This is a request I have made to other pizza establishments, but Gus's is the only one who would do it. First time here. First let me say..."I love pastrami". (My regular go to was Greek Chicken in Lakeside, but....discontinued the pastrami). The Hat in Temecula and Eddie World off the 15, 2 hours south of Vegas are my measuring sticks... Found Gus' on Yelp. I got the pastrami, easy mustard, xtra mayo. The 12" had a lot of meat. Easily 2 meals for me, (trust me, I'm a big dude). The bread was toasted slightly crunchy on the outside, and buttery and soft on the inside. Pastrami had a lot of flavor w/that salty/peppery flavor thru out. (Honestly, I prefer a little more fat on my pastrami. I guess I like food that reminds me of?....me.). My wife had the Reuben, she said it was a 4 out 5 (and she's a big Reuben fan). (I mean a big fan of the Reuben, not a....anyway.) Went in just after 2:00 on a Sun aft, apparently the breakfast/lunch crowd had just left. We figured this cuz sign outside said "After 2:00 plz seat urself...". Service was solid, everyone very nice. Place was clean and seating indoors and at outside patio. Gus and Subs? 2 words..."Do over!" We definitely goin back for the sandwiches.
