I would recommend. My friend had a 8 inch Turkey sub and I hand a Turkey sandwich on rye. They were both good! And HUGE!! And great price. We both were only able to eat half and took the rest to go. I see why it's popular. Nothing over the top exciting but a good classic sandwich or sub. I feel like the shop is missing a special sauce or ingrediant. That would take it over the top. I wasn't sure I was driving in the right place because it looks like it's in the middle of an industrial park. This is blue collar sandwich joint and we were the only two women in the place. Simple and delicious! I've been here a few times and they have consistently made me happy. Affordable and they offer half sandwiches which I appreciate because sometimes I'm only lowkey hungry and can't finish a full sandwich. Well, today was my first visit here. Ordered a chicken salad sandwich on squaw bread. To my surprise, it came with a soda. Awesome! Ordered it to go. When I got home, unwrapped it and yummmmm. This sandwich comes stacked high and full of the flavors you want in a delicious chicken salad sandwich. The girl at the register asked me if I'd like a pickle, which I accepted. Even that was crisp and cold. I will def will be back. Maybe to order the same thing, which I'll probably add bacon to it. Or maybe I'll try something new. Good job Maya's deli. Another Awesome hidden gem, in the Cajon Zone, that I found by accident. Great service (one of the owners- served me and she's a total sweetheart) the sandwich was a great sandwich... I ate an Italiano Sub, and the atmosphere was great. I will be back soon, to try the New Yorker- it appears to be one of their most popular sandwiches. The Pesto sandwich also looks very inviting. I found this sandwich shop by accident- Napa auto parts sent me over here to their new paint store- 'Performance Paint and Supply' they used Maya's Deli as a landmark to find their store. This deli used to be called San Diego Sandwich company way back in the day, I use to come here a lot when I worked in the area. I no longer work in this area so I don't get to come here as much, but upon returning, I noticed they changed the name to Maya's Deli. This place is a awesome little hole in the wall sandwich place located across from Parkway Plaza. This is a great little spot for a quick sandwich around lunch time. The prices are great here, you can get a sandwich and drink for around six bucks. The quality of meats, cheeses and breads here are also top notch. You can tell this is a family owned business, the same guy is always at this place and he's really good about getting your order right. If you're in the area and looking for a good sandwich for lunch, this is the spot. It's way better than the overrated Antonelli's Deli. read more

I was at El Cajon Ford setting up their copiers and John B. was having the most amazing looking pastrami sandwich. He was kind enough to share that Maya's Deli had been the place he had procured the amazing looking lunch he was having. I hadn't had lunch yet and since Maya's is not too far from El Cajon Ford I drove in over and decided to try The Godfather sandwich as it looked amazing and John had recommended it. The Godfather has a symphony of flavors whose chorus of deliciousness blows across your taste buds and into your mind with each bite. Found this place via Yelp. Good food. Fast service. If I had been here alone I would have given this place 4 stars. But...My husband, who is generally much kinder than I am when we discuss reviews, had the pastrami sandwich, which he said was average at best. We decided it was the minimal amount of pastrami that made it just average. I had the club, which I found to be very tasty. For $2 you can add a drink and chips. Didn't tell us we had to get our own chips so halfway through the meal I had to ask. The decor is bright and kitchy. Bathroom is outside you need to get a key. It was clean. Big TV but couldn't hear it and there were only four of us in the restaurant at 4 pm so I think it's just for background noise. read more

Fantastic deli! I found this place because my husband loves sandwiches and I wanted to find a privately owned shop instead of our regular visits to Panera or Jersey Mike's. This place exceeded my expectations. I ordered ahead on Yelp and got The Godfather and an Italian sub. They had my order fresh and ready for pick up in about 10 or 15 min, and the woman at the counter was so nice. I often run into issues where restaurants don't read my special instructions, but this place read that I asked for extra side of pepperoncinis and didn't miss that! The sandwiches here are so good. I haven't had one I don't like. The pastrami on rye with bacon, no tomato and provolone has become my #1 order. The deli meat is great quality and they pile your sandwiches high. I used to be a big antonellis fan, but the service and quality is going downhill there. The girls running this place are so sweet. After a long drive my friend and I stopped in at MAYA's DELI in El Cajon. At first look, it looks like a strip mall eatery, but i'm 100% glad we stopped in. We had a big order: Tuna Sandwich, Antipasto Salad, Hot Reuben Sandwich, Gobble-berry Sandwich, and brought home my teenage boys the Gut Buster's. My family's "go to" place has always been IKES and JERSEY MIKES but MAYAS DELI is definitely the in-line competition. Maya's sandwiches were all EXCELLENT and the Antipasto Salad meat was filled with fresh crispy vegetables. You can't go wrong with anything you order here!
