Such a lovely place to start your morning before a visit to Shenandoah National Park. This coffee shop is beyond charming and their staff is hilarious/fun to talk to. Upon entering, you're warmly welcomed by the staff and local goods. We wanted a filling breakfast before a hike and some morning coffee. I got a mocha and my partner got a drip coffee. I also built my own breakfast sandwich and ordered the sourdough, American cheese, sausage, and egg. My partner ordered the same but with an added tomato. He joked about not having it in the coffee, but in the sandwich. The staff riffed along. We didn't wait too long for our orders and enjoyed our drinks and food in a room filled with yummy natural lighting. While I didn't enjoy my iced mocha as much as I would've like to, I loved my sandwich. The mocha was a little more syrupy thank I would've liked. My partner's coffee was good though. And my breakfast sandwich really hit the spot to help me feel full before our hike. When his sandwich came out we realized the tomato was missing. He went to ask and the barista made a very cute joke about it being in the coffee before giving him a plate of tomato to make up for it. I loved that. I highly recommend visiting Maybelle's on Main for yummy food, coffee, and great service.

Food was absolutely delicious, service was friendly and fast! The interior is charming and very cozy. Best breakfast in the area for sure, if we ever swing by the area again I will come back here!

Such a cute little cafe in a small town that we were passing through on our way to Shenandoah National Park. We picked this place specifically because they have a couple of vegetarian options on their menu, which is often a rarity in small towns like this. The people working there were so friendly and indulged us in conversation about the building the restaurant is in as well as those in the surrounding neighborhood. Fun Fact: Maybelle's on Main is located in a building that was built in the 1700s and is part of the local "Historic Tour" that the town has to offer. So cool! Especially since we're from Texas and don't have many buildings this old that are still standing and in good condition. All four of us in our group ordered the Caprese Sandwich and it was so delicious! Very pesto-y and garlicy, so if you're not a big fan of those two, you should probably try something else. Thanks for the hospitality and tasty meal! We'll be back next time we're in Virginia and heading to Shenandoah NP.

Adorable little cafe with great coffee, solid food, and great vibes! I stumbled upon this lovely local shop while hiking about Shenandoah and realized I was in desperate need of a caffeine fix and warm food. I popped into Maybelle's on Main and was immediately greeted by the warmest, most friendly barista, who promptly gave me recommendations of her favorite hiking spots and whipped up my cortado and breakfast sandwich. The cortado was solid -- the coffee was the boost I needed to make it through the next day of hiking -- and the breakfast sandwich was solid. The $4 sandwich included an egg, cheese, and tomato served on potentially the largest English muffin I've ever seen (who knew you could panini press an English muffin?) -- it was tasty, warm, and super affordable. I didn't love that everything was served on disposable tableware, but the cafe was super cute -- I loved how much natural lighting there was, and all the sofas and chairs were super cozy. It made for a great spot to read, hang out, or do a bit of work.

So friendly! Great place to stop after or before a hike on Skyline Drive. The sandwich was huge, filling, and so delicious. The ingredients are fresh and they don't skimp. I got a cold brew and it was also great. Plenty of seating - more outside than inside. Would definitely return :)

So much charm all under one roof, and great tasting coffee, too. Maybelle's offers plenty of comfortable seating options inside a em a lovely workspace if you bring your laptop with you. With lots of local arts and crafts on display (all available for purchase) it's clear to see that this is a coffee shop that supports other small businesses. I love that! There's also fun games to play - bring some friends and enjoy some tabletop fun! I came to Stanardsville for the local farmers market on Saturday morning down the road, but fell in love with the pumpkin display outside and had to come in. I got an iced almond milk latte and a black coffee for the road. Both were served up with smiles; staff were very friendly and the menu is small but mighty; the less is more approach is definitely the right way to go! 5 stars all round. I will definitely be coming back!

Love this place! They always have gluten free options, great sandwiches and wraps with gf bread and wrap options. Sometimes they even have a gf scone... I highly recommend the cranberry orange one! It's a great place to stop for breakfast, lunch, or a cup of coffee. They also have wine and local artisan finds, such as jewelry, mugs, candles, and even a local herbal tincture to soothe teething babies. The service is always very warm and welcoming! (Not always the quickest so don't expect too much if you're in a hurry... it is still a small town.

We happened upon this spot on our way to another location and I couldn't be happier with our sandwiches from this spot!! The menu is small enough not to get overwhelmed and everything is homemade and delicious. This cute little shop has indoor and outdoor seating and they have games and puzzles galore! Stop by for a pastry, a coffee, or some fun stickers!!!

My wife and I stayed in Stanardsville and we went to Maybelle's On Main twice. They had gluten free options for my wife. The food, tea, and coffees were absolutely delicious. Katie was awesome and made the experience even more special; Katie was very welcoming, warming, and friendly. It is an adorable local coffee shop that provides such a great variety of fun snacks and drinks as well.

This place is super cute and an amazing option for a quick breakfast. Coffee was great and we loved sitting out on the patio! I especially loved that my breakfast sandwich was toasted panini style. It was a fun change up on a classic sausage egg and cheese

Iced vanilla cappuccino with almond milk--delicious!

Serving American classics with high quality and great hospitality…read more Sandwiched between two floors of antique malls, Jack's was the perfect stop in the day to get some no-frills nourishment. Their breakfast is incredibly generous and made with ingredients that were fresh, clean, and meticulous in detail. The design of their menu is just so promising with unique twists that are not unheard of, but just an elevated touch when it comes to American diner food as a whole. Things like truffle infused hollandaise, fried green tomato BLT, pairing balsamic with goat cheese, a blackened pork, even mushrooms on the breakfast menu all hint that people developing their menu are confident in their skills in offering something more when it comes to breakfast plates and sandwiches. Their homemade aiolis (highly recommend their pesto aioli) and hot sauce tie any dish together-- breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Things made to this quality are not to be unremarked. Came in with friends so we can try everything on their menu, and we were pleasantly surprised on all fronts. Presentation, ingredients, preparation all elements that made our meals great and were evident across all dishes ranging from protein to carb. Details like toasted bread with already spread with butter, perfectly poached eggs, and brioche as the bun of choice were things we peeped. We would have left satisfied if these details weren't accounted for, but we were so impressed this became a revisit during our short vacation. Their space is greatly spacious, with an open drinks station so its just not pretentious. There is even a section in the front to pick up goods made by local artisans. This is a great place to dine in, no notes.

While returning from a family mountain weekend getaway, we needed a spot for a late breakfast/early lunch. Just off the main highway, Bearrr Appetit appeared tucked into the beautiful Lydia Mountain Lodge. The drive up is scenic but very narrow, so expect to slow down and enjoy the drive. The lodge itself is cozy and rustic with a touch of elegance. The actual dining area feels intimate with gorgeous mountain views appearing both inside and with outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is highly recommended--though it was raining during our visit and mostly wet, with some covered tables and seating. Service was excellent from start to finish. The staff was warm and attentive, and Sidney, who served us, was especially accommodating and friendly. Everyone that was working seemed to be focused on service. As for the food--it was fantastic. We ordered a mix of breakfast and lunch items (eggs, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, sandwiches), and everything exceeded expectations. Overall, Bearrr Appetit combines breathtaking views, great service, and delicious food in a charming mountain setting. It's a true hidden gem worth the detour. We look forward to visiting again, hopefully as guests at the lodge!
