Nice enough place, nice enough staff. Unfortunately, the ice cream is lackluster and does not merit the high rating. It is particularly bland and "not worth the calories". The flavors mostly just taste like cream and sugar. They need to take a page out of other successful ice cream parlors books and make their ice cream more flavorful. There are so many high quality places that do this right. I feel a bit bad for the owner, but I do kinda want to grab them and shake some sense into them, because it could definitely be better. My cookies and cream was likewise, plus so delicious, I wondered why other versions of this flavor never had this consistency. For folks ready to drive the 20 miles to get there from Charlottesville, you'll have a hard time locating them...the front of their store faces a parking lot off of Library Avenue--they are tucked inside what looks like a coverted warehouse, on top of a barbecue and beer restaurant. We had some of the friendliest service I can ever recall and enjoyed the drive back to Charlottesville with our quickly diminishing supply of super creamy ice cream. It's worth that drive! read more

A nice new addition to Crozet. Located in Piedmont place, it's a small ice cream shop that has about a dozen flavors. Traditional but updated, they have all the ice cream mainstays you'd expect and a few slightly more unique flavors, waffle cones and a bunch of toppings. The shop is small but there's lots of seating right outside in the lobby area and outdoors. Service was friendly and prompt, atmosphere was lively and kid-friendly, and prices were reasonable. The ice cream was great. Pairs well with a day out in the local area spent hiking or visiting wineries. read more

They had Whiskey & Fig, Thin Mint, Birthday Cake, Twinkie, Red Velvet, etc. I chose a 434 sundae for 6 dollars with two scoops of any flavor I wanted, chocolate or caramel sauce, sprinkles, whipped cream, and of course a cherry. Popped in after a long, sweaty hike. It's the time of Covid but luckily they are still open. Got a scoop of the peach and of the sour cream and blueberry velvet. First off, the one scoop is huge and definitely more than one scoop. The peach was filled with real hunks of peach and the blueberry was less sour than I though, with some hunks is blueberry and pieces of red velvet. The best ice cream in the Crozet/Charlottesville area! Everyone is friendly and helpful, and willing to let you sample as much as your indecision requires. All of the flavors are delicious, and talking to the employees makes it clear they are fresh as well. Scoops are huge and there's lots of space (whether inside the shop or around the complex) to sit down and enjoy your treat. The window has a beautiful elevated view of the mountains, as well. :) Even though we have a Ben&Jerry's at Barracks right by Grounds, my UVA friends and I agree it's worth the drive to come here for ice cream indulgences instead. read more

I was so excited to hear about Piedmont Place and all the new businesses popping up in Crozet, but the Crozet Creamery is by far my favorite new spot so far! First of all, you can't really beat homemade, specialty ice cream, can you? That's exactly what you will find here. The flavors change basically daily it seems, and they are the most unique flavors I've ever experienced at an ice cream place. For example, on St. Patty's Day they had Lucky Charms flavored ice cream. On weekends, they tend to always have a flavor that includes alcohol of some sort, like their Maple Bacon Bourbon flavor. I've also tried flavors like Rice Crispy Treat, and then there are some more classic tastes like rocky road, the best cookies and cream you'll ever try, and mint chocolate chip. You can of course find your classic vanilla or chocolate, too if that is what you're craving! Basically, everything I've tried is outstanding. the ice cream is thick and creamy and just perfect altogether. The prices are right for the quality, and pretty standard with other C'Ville ice cream spots. If it wasn't a completely unhealthy choice, I'd probably go here every day! As the weather heats up, definitely take a trip out to Crozet and try this place out! read more

I liked the ice cream and so happy for Crozet... but you really have to eat it very quickly. Removed two stars because I notice the product already looked soft while being scooped up from the case display. It was a hot day outside, but keeping the integrity of the ice cream should be kept at all cost, especially during storage. It must be the heat coming from the entrance doors or the scorching sunlight coming through the windows. This is not an FDA inspection but one thing I suggest is for clerks to wear gloves. What a pain, to remove and don gloves? It is, but handling cash is dirty and we don't want the next person to get sick. I love the flavors...not too sweet that I bounced up and down due excessive sugar. It just melted too fast... which could mean it has less emulsifiers. I would like to see the ingredients but didn't see that from the website. Anyway, quality ice cream should only take less than six ingredients. Interesting concept but needs better execution. read more

Poor service. Took my 4 year old niece who was visiting. There were 5 people in front of us when we arrived. The staff member at the register kept allowing at least an additional 10 people who were from the same group and arrived after us over the next 30 minutes to cut in front. We ended up not being able to get ice cream because we were getting late for the airport. I mentioned this twice to the staff member who kept allowing ppl to cut in front and not serve us. I emailed them afterwards about the poor service with no response. In my opinion, the ice cream here is average but I live in the neighborhood and used to go there to support local businesses. But after this, I'm not planning on going there again. I think moo-thru ice cream is so much better. We usually get it on our way to DC but I recently found out they have a Charlottesville location and I'd rather make the trip there than go to Crozet Creamery again. On this day, I ended up getting my niece ice cream from Harris Teeter instead since we wasted over half an hour at the Creamery without being served. read more

The flavors are ok, although their names always sound much better than their actually taste. They get a lot more recognition in reviews because it is the only place for decent ice cream in Crozet. However, my biggest criticism is that the servers hold the bare cones with bare hands. No gloves and/or napkin to hold the cone. It happens every time I come and every time I have to ask them to give me a new cone but to "please use a napkin". Hope they continue to improve the flavors and give a class of food handling to their employees. read more

As a soon to be resident of Crozet I'm sure I will be here often enough, despite my serious annoyance with this place refusing to offer a kids size. One scoop is huge and way more ice cream than I want my young children to eat. Once an employee kindly offered to split a scoop between two dishes and the person in charge told him they couldn't do that. We love ice cream though, so I can't pretend I won't be back. Hoping another local place comes in to compete soon, because that's just really bad customer service for a town so full of families. The taste of most of the ice cream flavors is fine (but always taste first because some are truly awful--steer clear of cotton candy, one of my favorite flavors usually) and I appreciate that it's local, though it's always too soft and melty for me to really love it. I think my children are the #1 fans of Crozet Creamery but I have a feeling most parents and caregivers in and around Crozet feel that way. It is so easy to pop in on one of these warm and humid summer afternoons and get a cone or two. My daughter always tries one flavor and goes right back to her standard order of salted caramel with chocolate sprinkles in a waffle cone. I take a "mommy tax" (small taste) and it is always delicious. The kids who work there are friendly and courteous. When there is a funny flavor (for example today, there was avocado), they let me have a sample. By the way, the avocado ice cream was surprisingly wonderful! read more
