This shop is fantastic. The guys that run the shop, and guys that work there too, are very experienced, friendly, and most importantly, helpful. I purchased a used Acura RSX-S that needed a lot of work to bring it back to life. Before making any recommendations, Steve and Rene took the time to understand my goals of this project car, and provided me honest recommendations that would help me achieve those goals. They even saved me from making unnecessary modifications/upgrades that didn't work towards my goals. Could they just have said yes and added more labor hours to my bill, sure...but they didn't. This act alone earned my trust and business for not only my RSX, but also my Honda S2000 and Lexus GS-F. As far as communication goes, they never left me in the dark. Steve and Rene gave me their direct line and always answered my text/calls, even during off hours (which I tried to be mindful of). I can't say the same for a lot of other shops I have worked with in the past. I am glad I found this team. Steve and his team over at Mayco was able to properly diagnose and fully resolve an issue I was having with my Honda S2000 blowing only warm air when the A/C was on. With this TX summer heat, I couldn't drive my car anywhere as a result. He was thorough with his explanations and it lined up with several possibilities from what I've researched on the s2k forums. His team did a full refresh/replacement of the AC components (AC compressor, drier, expansion valve and condenser) in addition to performing a system flush to ensure any bits from the bad compressor didn't contaminate the new system. He personally reached out to me to provide updates throughout the way and I was able to get my car back within the following week. Overall I am extremely satisfied with the level of service, communication and professionalism that was received by Steve and Rene and I will definitely be taking my car back in the future for any major work required. How do I start this review off? Let's just say that I'm no fan of Houston streets - but I am a fan Mayco Automotive Performance and owner Steve Dragos. I brought my car in for some suspension work - I had begun to hear a "clunking" sound every time I drove over the smallest bumps on the road (clearly caused by months of trying to unsuccessfully dodge potholes here in Houston). Steve was able to get my car on the lift that day and find that my camber plates were wearing down to a point where it was unsafe to drive. I asked him about my options and he did the homeworkI asked and called up the manufacturer to find if the plates could be rebuilt (which was possible). I ended up asking him to swap my stock suspension back in place of my aftermarket coil overs which he was happy to do and at a very legitimate price point. All in all, I had my car back within 2 days which results in a very happy customer. read more

Well... I don't want to do this BUT, I will actually downgrade my review for Mayco in order to save others from a LOOONG WAIT. Previously Steve and his team worked on the brakes for our Focus RS and the service was very good and he communicated well and had the car ready in time. SO we thought let's continue bringing our cars here. THEN.... everything took a bad turn with my sons Mustang GT. During the pandemic the car sat in his parking lot for over two (2) months waiting on a part. Finally, the part came in but the day before we picked up the car, our car was broken in while on Mayco lot and burglars stole the tuner from inside the car and scratched the paint on the right front fender. I never filed a Police Report (probably should have) trying to collaborate with Steve. Because the tuner was stolen Steve offered to Dyno-Tune the car to compensate and avoid going through his insurance and the job was TERRIBLE. Car never felt the same, engine lights were coming up and also we just found out his shop also welded (Axle back to the over axle Pipe). We have made multiple trips to MAYCO to try and correct the tuning and today when we called about the welding Mayco wouldn't commit to helping anytime soon because they are too busy (too many cars) Basically bring the car and I'll get to it when we can (maybe 1 week, maybe 2 weeks, maybe more) Steve is a nice guy, knowledgeable on mechanics, but takes on TOO MANY cars and you just don't know how long your car will sit there. Very unhappy with how this burglary situation was handled and how long we waited for the car not to be tuned properly. Well, let me start out by saying that a simple trip to get my state inspection done turned into 3 separate incidents of dealing with this place. They informed me that my windshield wipers needed to be replaced in order to pass inspection. Fine. Even though it cost $70 to do so. Well the guy who replaced my wipers freaking cracked my windshield! The manager was very apologetic and made it right, so I will give him that. He had someone come out to my work with a mobile unit and they replaced my entire windsheild for free which was pretty cool of them. But then a day later I noticed the windshield wipers weren't even placed on right. So I had to drive all the way back to the place to get them to fix it yet again. This time I knew to ask for the manager to replace it himself instead of letting some rookie kid do it and possibly crack my windshield again. Overall, great customer service. But the workers they hire are not the best. Ask for the manager to do everything and you're golden. read more
