Incredibly knowledgeable. Ridiculously honest. Jeremy came out to give an estimate but I also got an education. I learned more about trees, and particularly our trees, in 20 minutes than I would in weeks of reading. He actually suggested we have the town do the work (nearly $1000) for free since the tree is in the right of way, even though we were prepared to hire them for what we felt would be improved quality of work. They'll be coming out to treat two types of mold for a modest price. I'll never look for another tree company as long as we're in San Mateo County. Doing some tree work and chat with the manager, please don't cut this branch that blocks five hours of hot direct sunlight into my window, no problem buddy! Workers start going to the tree so I come outside and say please don't cut this branch block sunlight to my tree, no problem buddy, sit there for 15 minutes watching them Because it's an interesting process. Turn my back to grab something to drink and come back two minutes later and not only have they lopped off the branch but then they proceeded to butcher it back another 5 feet. Took three years for that branch to grow perfectly. Then I asked him what happened he said you told me a different branch and I said how would I tell you their incorrect branch? No apologies no nothing just blame it on me. For the most part they did an OK job but they missed a lot of branches that are still touching the building and we've got dozens of dead unsightly Brown branches that they cut off that are stuck in the trees. read more

I called Mayne after a hearing an excellent recommendation. Jeremy from Mayne Tree came out to take a look at a large redwood tree in my front yard and gave me a lot of good advice about caring for the tree and a better understanding of what to expect going forward. Jeremy also quoted me a fair price for doing some trimming that of some overhanging branches. He seemed very knowledgeable about tree care in general, and redwoods in my case. read more

I called for an appointment the afternoon of 12/22/15. Jeremy called me back and scheduled it for the next day at 11AM. He was on time and very professional. He diagnosed which trees were diseased and which were healthy. He explained in detail what caused the diseased trees and what remedial action, if any, was appropriate. He also provided suggestions to insure that each of the healthy trees would remain so. He was candid as to what remedial work his company could provide cost effectively and which type of remedial work other companies, with specialized equipment, could do more cost effectively. On the morning of January 4, 2017 I woke up to find a cypress tree had fallen on my roof and deck. Since Mayne has been my tree company since 1996, they received my panicked call. The office staff was wonderful and by 2PM, they had arrived to remove the fallen tree. That was fast service and I greatly appreciated it. I highly recommend them. Not impressed. Hired their services to spray oak trees for SOD through a "large group discount". They wanted the payment up front to get the group discount. they were supposed to call to schedule the spraying. No one called, and the time frame they were supposed to contact me had come and go. Had to call them asking whether they got my check. They never returned my call. So I had to inquire with the head of the association that organized this group spraying discount. Then they come unannounced, the worker doesn't even bother ringing the doorbell to say who and why they're here, so I had to go out and talk to this stranger walking around my property. The guy didn't even have the map that I submitted noting the locations of the trees that I was required to send in with the payment. luckily I had my own copy to hand to the worker. Not even sure if they sprayed all the trees I requested since they didn't spend more than 10 min spraying over 15 trees spread around a 0.5acre lot. Just did not act professional, and no follow up. Poor communication, not very professional. Then I've been finding out that every arborist report for a homeowner wanting to justify removal of a large protected tree, people seem to use Mayne to get assess for poor tree health to remove the tree. Some of the trees I've seen that were rated "poor" with "lack of vigor" is sprouting massive new leaves that put my well-cared oaks to shame. read more

Mayne Tree is the worst tree service I've ever used. They did the opposite of what I told them to do with the trimming. For example, I asked them to bring down the canopy of two trees, and they didn't do that instead they limbed the tree up. Terrible! read more

We had contacted them to cut a limb off of one of our oak trees in front. The contract said that they would cut the wood into 12 to 14 inch long pieces, some of the wood was more than 2 feet long. Also the steps leading to our house had a lot of brush that they did not clean off. When I called to ask them a question about whether the cut area of the tree needed to be treated she got back with me and I told her about my concerns. She did not apologize or act like it was any big thing. Needless to say I would not use them again. read more

Don't let the 3rd grade website fool you, these guys are very professional and know a lot about trees. They arrived on time, preformed the proper tree trim, cleaned the area completely, and did it for a fair price. More than that, I learned a lot about my tree and how to care for it (much more than hiring a landscaper). read more

We have always used Mayne Tree for trimming our trees. We recently had a tree trimmed and they did an inadequate job of trimming our tree. For example they cut limbs down and left some of the limbs lodged in the tree. They also did not cut out a lot of dead limbs. We were also left with a lot of clean up and we consider that a poor job. I was disappointed in the service we received! read more
