Outstanding experience from quoting to cleanup. I requested a quote on their website, and office manager Jessica got back to me that day. I did not have to be home for them to come by and assess the tree and prepare the quote. I decided to go ahead with the job, and Jessica scheduled the work day about a week out. The crew of Rolando, Johnny, and Benjamin arrived promptly on the scheduled day, confirmed with me what they would do, and worked efficiently and skillfully to trim a large palm tree that had not been trimmed in 10+ years. They showed great care and professionalism, and they clearly were very knowledgeable and experienced in what they were doing. Rolando did the actual cutting and did an absolutely beautiful job. They ground the trimmings into their truck at the site, and they left the site clean and spotless. I was happy with the whole experience and would highly recommend Peninsula Tree Care. read more

On Feb. 20th 2023, they trimmed & reduced the limbs & branches of my 5 "Heritage" White Birch Trees: * All steps of obtaining an Estimate for the Scope Of Work was very easy. * Once I had the San Bruno City Permit for Tree Trimming & reduction (based on Arborist assessment & written report) it took only a few days to schedule the work to be done. * The Office Staff were very easy & professional to work with during all steps of the process leading up to the work being done. * They know ALL about the health & safety of Trees. They know how to "read & feel" trees. They will truly care for your trees. They explain what & why certain services should be or should not be done. * Written Estimates for work to be done indicate "everything" they will do. * All work guaranteed. * They arrived a few minutes early to start the job (this is their usual M.O. for the past 14 years I have been using them) * Everyone Team Member was very pleasant, professional and accurate in all aspects of doing the work. This team had been working together for a long time. * Working safely on the Job is highly evident by everyone. Pros: Bill's crew is fast an efficient. They removed a tree in my yard very quickly and didn't leave a mess. The price was also reasonable compared to other quotes. You also get a written quote immediately during the visit. Cons: It takes a few calls to get a call back. After scheduling the work on a specific day, I had to call back to confirm the time the day before the work. I would have preferred that they initiate the call. Overall, I'm happy with their services and would recommend them to others with a caution about slow responsiveness. read more

After two no-shows on appointments scheduled weeks in advance I am left to give one star (zero is not an option) for flaky beyond imagination. Not worth the effort no matter what the estimate unless your time has no value and you like waiting for contractors to come when the mood strikes. I had a huge dead tree in my garden that needed removing, in a very tricky position. Bill and his crew did an excellent job taking it down. It was quite a show watching them, I would not have wanted to be the guy at 50ft high! Bill was very contentious at making sure we and our neighbors were very happy with everything before he asked for full payment. I used Cody once over two years ago to trim a liquid amber. On the day of the service, they came hours late. I told them that I wouldn't be home from noon on for 2 hours. They showed up and finished up while I was gone. The job looked like it was half done. Cody called me the next day to collect payment. Well, that was my first experience using an arborist. I didn't know any better. I called Cody last year to give me an estimate to remove the liquid amber and remove a couple of other trees. He called to reschedule while I was on my way to a doctor appointment. I was running a 5 min. late from the doctor visit. My husband talked to him about the liquid amber without knowing that the other trees in the backyard also needed to be removed. Cody took off without giving him the estimate. I called him back and he refused to come out again and didn't provide us an estimate. However, I need to thank him for that. Since then, I met with no fewer than half a dozen of arborists and found the guy for the job. See my review for the 5 star experience that I had with the other arborist. Since I used the other guy for two big jobs on two of our properties. I couldn't be happier with their service. read more

They can't seem to get their dates right and phone numbers correct, having been trying to get them to cut a tree for over a month now and it's one excuse after another, finally told them forget it. Sounds like their to busy and have lack of communicating. read more

I've had two experiences with this business and both were very good. The first time was a few years ago when they pruned several large pine trees in our back yard. They were tall and close together. My husband was impressed with the job they did, the trees looked great, the price was reasonable and they did an exceptional job of cleaning up the mess the trees left on our ground. A few years later now and the trees still look great. The second time was in the last couple of weeks. A skinny, tall pine tree was close to coming down in our front yard. My husband told me to call Peninsula Tree again. I looked them up on Yelp and was surprised that their average rating was lower than I had experienced for sure. As such, in addition to calling Peninsula Tree I also asked for a bid from another (five star avg rating) tree service--I don't believe I ever received a response from that tree service--however, Bill from Peninsula Tree service showed up soon after my call. I also showed him a Palm Tree that had not been maintained for probably decades and asked him to bid on that as well. You can tell Bill loves trees--he told me the Palm tree was beautiful--and he gave me a very reasonable estimate. The team promptly came and did the work. Audrey called me, updating me when they were running 10 minutes behind, etc. All of her calls were punctual, she was friendly, informative and professional every time. The palm tree turned out to be a very difficult task as there were so many layers of dead palm tree leaves that had accumulated. I wasn't completely satisfied with the initial effort of how it looked as I felt the leaves were too uneven as this task was a difficult one so I called Bill again. He then sent out his team again and it looks absolutely beautiful now. read more

Got an estimate 1 year ago. Emailed a question a while after. No response. Months later called and setup date for them to do work. Stayed at home that date. They never called or showed up. They said they must have had a mix up. They also said they took a look at tree and increased quote since tree was larger. I reluctantly setup another date a week later. They called 1 hour before they were supposed to show and said they couldn't make it. We used this company in the past, but they have obviously lost their care and regard for their clients. read more

Peninsula tree care just completed the most phenomenal job of cutting up a huge oak tree that fell against our home. Bill was here within 20 minutes of my call to him and his crew were here within 1/2 hour and job was completed before 1 PM. I have never experienced the teamwork nor the strength of the workers displayed on this job. And additionally they seemed to enjoy each other and the work they did. And for the difficulty of the job the price was far less than any other jobs I've had done in the past. read more

They cancelled the day before they were supposed to come and promised to reschedule....then...nothing. We called to reschedule - no returned call. No way to treat customers. read more

After getting multiple estimates for removal of large cypress in rear yard and getting city permit, chose Peninsula. Date established to begin work. Delay. Delay. Delay. Date arrives after these delays - NO SHOW. No phone call. Left 2 messages, still no phone call. How does a company stay in business that operates this way. Did they change their mind and decide not to do the work? Why would anyone ever chose Peninsula Tree Care when there are so many businesses to chose from that actually value their customers. read more

I would give no stars if that were an option. Unfortunately I have limited experience with this company since they failed to keep any kind of contact with me. After canceling one appointment 30 minutes before they were suppose to be here for an estimate, they made it two days later and looked at the trees I needed trimmed. I had four trees to be trimmed and two to remove. It wasn't a difficult job but certainly one worth doing. The owner, Bill, was suppose to call me back with the pricing a couple of hours later but never called. That was last Saturday. It is now Tuesday evening at 7 PM and I still have heard nothing. If he didn't want to do the job he should have just said so. I'm a big girl, I would have survived. Very unprofessional. Needless to say, I have contacted one of his competitors now and they will do the job on Thursday. I would never recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a professional, honest, responsible company to work with. read more

Peninsula Tree Care thinned out my 250 year old redwood tree and left the tree and my property a mess. I was not at home when the work was performed and they broke several pieces flagstone under the tree without telling me. More importantly the tree has lost it's shape and has uneven gaps in the foliage. Additionally, overlapping branches were left on the tree - I cannot recommend Peninsula Tree Care based on this experience. read more
