I spent $3,294 with repairs and labor transmission fluid leak, oil pan gasket, oil leak, Ac condenser etc. just for a week later my alternator broke snapped not long after I still had some type of leak which burnt out my alternator .. while checking my oil I all of a sudden have METAL in my oil.. my engine is gone, no more transportation for me to do what I need to handle. lost my job due to situations with this car and putting my trust into mayo auto works to fix the problem but instead made it worse. when I went up there to see how could there be metal in my oil I kept getting told "we didn't do anything with the engine" ... They are the WORSE place in town They did a diagnostic test on my car. They claimed it was the starter. It was not it was misfiring. I had been charged $120 for the diagnostic fee which I really didn't have but I do need my car. This is the location that is on Stan Schluter. Wanted to charge me $3000 for an oil leak. Had oil changed at another location & they too saw oil on a pan built in the engine. I took it to a third repair shop and verified that there was NO oil leak. Oil spilled onto the pan from removal of filter was a possibility, & Mayo wanted to charge me $3000 for nothing. I DO NOT recommend you have any work completed here! I called this company on behalf of my daughter in law whose spouse (my son) is currently serving in the military overseas on a mission to try and understand why the diagnostic test they did last week did not find the current knocking the vehicle is doing. I also found out the work completed by the technician was reccommended not required for the car to work, the reason the vehicle was taken to the shop was it was having trouble starting. The technician had the option to waive the diagnostic fee but he chose not to for his own gain. These are extremely unethical people, the manager did not offer to resolve our issue by waiving the diagnostic fee this next time even though it has not been that long since it was supposed to be fixed - it was only last week and they are asking for another diagnosic fee. While speaking with the manager she was laughing very unprofessional as if this situation is funny. Why would I trust them when they took advantage of my miltary family? After reading several previous reviews I see why no one wants to do business there. I will be sure to tell everyone I know to avoid them at all cost. I had Mayo Autoworks replace my engine, replace the suspension, and paint my car, while they had their "special" for $3500. After 2 months, which I had no problem with the time as long as the engine ran as expected and the paint job is what you expect for that price. In the end and after three calls my car was complete and I had to leave it because the of the paint shop: the headlight shook freely, orange peel on the entire care (it will never shine unless I pay again to have the orange peel corrected), the factory ground effect was hanging down on two sides and later fell again on my way home (after I had to ask twice for them to put them back on after painting), signal lights (had to ask them to put them on, Vent covers (had to ask them to put them back on), the factory back wing bolts are cross threaded, hose marks in the paint where JJ dragged the hose across the paint and didn't make the correction. As for the engine work, the car runs very rough and shakes/vibrates violently, the engine light is on shining as bright as it wants to shine. On the bright side the suspension seems to be ok, but it doesn't matter if the car runs like a tractor. In all, I spent just under $12,000 cash with them not including the parts I supplied. I finally picked up the car, in the same condition as stated above, but now filthy (new paint job, picked up filthy) because it is evident that they cant get it right. Decent premises though and vintage decorative pieces in the office. Very disappointing that I have to take my car to pay another shop to make these corrections. Zero star rating. Do not come here. Overcharged for unnecessary service and didn't fix the problem. Car turned on but wouldn't start. Brought it in for starter replacement. They claimed it was the battery and battery sensor. Charged me $1200. Drove it once from the shop to my house, then the car wouldn't start again. They said they will tow it back. Waited until 4pm still no tow. Went to the shop for a refund they refused. They eventually picked up the car. Now they claim it's the starter. They close at 5 I'm still here at 7pm waiting for a "complicated" starter to be replaced. They said it will be 3.5 hours. read more

I've been there three separate times. First for an oil change. I knew I need air filters changed as I had not ever changed them, which I did not mention. I told them to change them and they did and showed me them, which were disgusting. Because they were so nice I went back and had them check a service light, which turned out to be an easy fix that they did. Lastly, I took my son's truck in for an oil change and they turned it around quickly and told me zero issues. They are great!! Plus a waiting room that I enjoyed looking at all the cool stuff! Service was wonderful. They did what had to be done so that even with the tons of customers they have, they didn't screw over people waiting and stuff like that. Friendly and great experience for my first ever oil change. Prices are reasonable as well. They noticed that my tires was low on air and they did it without me asking. And when i asked for a tire rotation, insead of taking my money, they came back and said my tires should be good for another 2000 miles or so and asked if i still want it now. I had my truck towed to Mayo on 3828 W Stan Schlueter Loop,on in Killeen on a Sunday.The vehicle lost oil pressure. The next day they told me "we have some bad news , you need a new engine, and we can replace for aprox $8,000.00" .( no diagnostic number given) On something this expensive , I aways get a 2nd opinion. They appeared nervous, when I had to Pay $108.00 for their diagnostic fee , and I towed to another mechanic. The 2nd mechanic in copperas cove, gave me the actual diagnostic number, and was able to repair it based on the GMC schedule for this problem, a #2 and #7 faulty injector connection. and it was repaired in a few days for aprox $550.I read a review from a woman who had the same dishonest "engine replace " diagnosis from them. Do not take your vehicle to this shop , unless you just enjoy getting ripped off.I heard Mr Mayo , the father passed away recently, and what used to be an honest repair shop , NO LONGER IS. Terrible service, preparation, and accommodation. I came here based on a family recommendation. Needed to get my mower fixed - a simple carb. clean. Never again. Was quoted a 2-3 day turnaround. Took them a week +. Had to follow up every day after the 2nd, just to keep hearing that nobody was available to service my mower, and that nobody from another Mayo location could come over and service it. And, that they didnt have a backup plan for anyone finishing the job with sole small mower mechanic being out for the week. Told me it was in pieces too and that I couldn't pick it up either, in the event that I wanted to do it myself or go somewhere else. On to top it off, they attempted to charge me FULL price for service/labor and parts upon pickup, despite not meeting their contractual obligations. I simply stated that I would not pay full price because I did not receive full price worthy service or experience. As a result, they gave me a whopping $16 off. Thanks Mayo, won't ever be coming back here or recommending to anyone. Oh, had to wait another 30 min after paying just for them to load it in the truck. Thanks for that, too. read more

Got my car alignment here, everything seemed good, got new tires and everything ($600) until I started getting really bad toe out symptoms, I took it to another place and they told me it was 1.5° off (on each wheel) what it was supposed to be, went back got a full refund without any fight from them, that's when you know it's messed up. I am relatively new to Killeen. Finding a legitimate mechanic is one of the hardest parts of moving around. I was very skeptical of having work done to my vehicle. Let's face it, mechanics have earned their reputation for being shady. That coupled with Killeen being a military town and I was sure the odds were against me. I chose Mayo exclusively based on the reviews they have here on Yelp. I couldn't be happier for my choice. They did the work I requested. They never tried to convince me that I needed additional unnecessary parts or services. They got the work done fast. I dropped my car off and they called me to pick it up three hours later. They also completed the work for $30 less than they initially quoted me. I have never dealt with friendlier people. They got me in, got me fixed up, and got me out. As long as I live in Killeen, these guys have my business. I rarely give anything Five Stars on Yelp. I wish I could give these guys Six! read more

Where to even start. I was going to give Mayo the benefit of the doubt, but I can no longer hold my tongue. I had my Troy Bilt riding lawn mower serviced by Mayo and this is the story. I initially called Mayo March 14, 2023, to schedule a service for my riding mower. The mower had a gas leak and an oil leak. I also requested a full annual service. Mayo picked up my mower, serviced it and returned it about a week later. When they returned it, all appeared to be fine. I paid them $356.68 for the bill. A few days later I used the mower for the first time after the service, was cutting my grass and the mower quit running after about 5 minutes. I started it back up, continued cutting the grass, and it died again a few minutes later. After that, it would start, but would die again almost immediately. I put the mower back in the garage, and the next morning noticed that the mower had developed a massive gas leak. I called Mayo and they came to my home, picked the mower up, and took it back to the shop. The mower remained in the shop for a full 6 weeks. I called numerous times and was informed that it was almost done. When they finally informed me it was fixed, they charged me another $350.00, and bought it back to my home and dropped it off . We tested it and the mower ran for a few minutes then shut off. It started, ran for a few minutes, and continuously shut off. Back to the shop it went. That very same day, a few hours later, Mayo dropped my mower back off at my home informing me it was fixed. We tested it, and again it ran for a few minutes and shut off. Back to shop it went again. Two days later, the mower was again dropped off at my home, and I was informed that it was fixed. We tested it and it ran continuously without shutting off, so I put it in the garage. The next day, I went to the garage to further inspect the mower and noticed that the left front tire and left rear tire were completely flat. BOTH tires had holes in them. Mayo had plugged the rear tire, but it had a slow leak. The front tire had a hole as well and when I put air in it, I could hear it slowly leaking out. I tried to plug the tire but the plug failed. I also noticed that the oil dipstick was loose, and the mower was one half quart low on oil. I went to tractor supply and spent $68.00 for a new front tire. After putting the new tire on the mower and adding oil to the mower, I took it on a test run and it seemed to work fine. I will see how it performs in the coming weeks when I have to cut the grass. If it works, I'm just going to thank my lucky stars. In a nutshell, I WOULD NOT recommend Mayo AutoWorks for lawn mower repair. This experience has not been pleasant, and I will never again use their services for anything. read more

Buyer beware, I created this account for the sole purpose of warning other people to stay away from this place. I've dealt with this place twice because of how close it is to where I live. I chalked up my first bad experience to a fluke. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried them again. After all, everyone has a bad day every once in awhile and I'm all about second chances. Unfortunately, these guys really didn't deserve a second chance. Whether it is incompetence, greed, laziness or a combination of these, I really don't know. I'll share the issues that I personally had, experiences may differ. Experience one: I had to get the fuel pump replaced. They said they replaced the fuel filter (a brand new one, or thats what I was told. My car made it 100 yards off their property and into heavy traffic when my car died in the exact same way it was doing before. Their explanation was that they must have installed a faulty replacement part, even though it was suppose to be brand new. I'm not sure what the dud rate on brand new fuel pumps is but it seems unlikely. A more plausible explanation is that they either didn't bother changing anything or installed a used faulty part, but charged me for a new one. Experience two: I had a slow leak after getting my oil changed and I took it there for a diagnostic. They charged me 60 or 70ish dollars for this diagnostic to find the issue with my car. After 10 minutes, which seems to be very little time to actually run the diagnostic, I was told that I had an oil leak. I was told that the repair for this oil leak was going to be extremely expensive. I paid them their undeserved money for this "diagnostic" and went to the dealership to get a second opinion (free by the way). There were indeed issues, but none of them had anything to do with an oil leak. What I had was a massive fuel leak and carbon buildup. The mechanics I spoke to were astonished that any actual mechanic could miss such an obvious issue and diagnose a problem that wasn't even there in the first place. In summary, I paid them 70 dollars to diagnose a non existent and expensive problem. This is after paying them nearly 2000 dollars to install a faulty "new" part on my car which broke down almost immediately after picking it up from them. Regardless of whether they dont know what they're doing or the're willfully trying to exploit customers for the sake of money, Be wary. Honest and competent mechanics do exist, and I recommend finding one. In my opinion, you wont find them here. read more

I originally went to have two back tires put on my vehicle while the tech Was putting on the new two back tires I asked very politely to please not hammer the lugs on, due to it being very soft metal. Well As he was putting my lugs back on he was breaking them "which is understandable some to break". So I ask him again please don't hammer them back on so tight so what does he do, he turns it all the way up to five and hammers every single lug on both back tires!!! Now here I am a month later and all the lugs have snapped off, Needless to say I am very pissed off and I will not be returning please be aware of the young tech there. read more

Had a huge problem with my 2006 Dodge Stratus. Timing belt broke on the road, we didn't know what the problem was immediately so we tried cranking it, throwing the timing off. Double overhead camshaft . . . yeah. Luckily, it wasn't an interferance engine, which the manual says it is, which is what the master tech told me, I told him about the research I'd done and the YouTube videos, which he went out and verified for himself. Brought it in, they went to work on it, even going so far as to ask me about changing the water pump, which I declined. He then explained that once he had it all put back together, there was a leak from a seal BEHIND the timing belt, so he took it ALL back apart to change it, free of charge. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is because they said I could pick it up on Monday and it really wasn't ready until Wednesday. But it was a great experience. read more

Took it in....supposedly fixed it. Fast forward a few more weeks, stopped working again. Took it in...said sensors. A few hours later and $605 later, mechanic recanted and said catalytic converter, so a few hundred dollars more later....guess what engine seized! They sold us (well, my teen who saved and worked hard to buy his first car) a junk! We took for granted they were an auto shop with the means to fix and sell quality used vehicles- WRONG! I know legally they are protected, however, I called to at least speak with the owner on how we can creatively find a solution...he has yet to return my call. This place is morally bankrupt and in the market to profit off of selling junks and milking people​ for less than quality repair!
