I had takeout from here...butter chicken, butter naan, and samosas. All of it was tasty! The butter chicken was a tad bit spicy and had delicious flavor...even my picky cat kept trying to lick the lid...crazy. The naan was good, but had a bit of bitterness from some overly charred areas. I wish I'd gotten the garlic naan because I saw them bring an order to someone and it looked heavenly. The vegetable samosas were mini (!!), which was adorable, and the potato and pea filling was tasty. I was bummed because I didn't get any rice with my dish...maybe they thought the naan wasn't a separate order and gave me that instead of rice? This is our first time trying Mayuri and it exceed our expectation. Their serves is fast, they wrap your Togo very neatly and secure, and they're very friendly. We usually go to kebab corner but the food here is way better. Their chicken biryani is so tasty, lotssssss of meat in the portion. Their pricing is also very reasonable cheaper than kebab corner. We order an entree of goat and chicken that come with 4 naan and rice (large enough portion for 2-3), one order of chicken biryani with lots of chicken in it, one order of garlic ban that come with yogurt dipping and curry dipping alll this for for 21 bucks!!! ***Disclaimer*** I came for lunch and did not know what to expect as far as the options were concerned. Food: So during lunch there really is no freedom in what you can order. I thought that since this wasn't a buffet, there would be no hot lamps in sight. Wrong! They basically serve lunch cafeteria style. The kicker is that they may or may not have some of the most popular Indian dishes on the menu. I really just wanted Malai Kofta, but of course that was not on the list of available veggie options. Without malai kofta, then I just want the classic Chicken Tikka Masala... Of course this was not an option. I ended with the Butter Chicken(3/5): ehh not at all spicy but the chicken was nice and tender. I also had the curried eggplant (not sure of the actual name) but this was an interesting first try. Probably my last try... but iteresting nonetheless. The eggplant was a bit mushy for my taste. The curry on this was really delicious though. Ambience: Also not a feat by any means. The guy working the counter just stared through my soul until I made a decision on the limited items they had available. Another man in the kitchen also stared through my soul... from the kitchen! If I return to this spot it will definitely be for dinner when I can choose exactly what I want and have it made to order. I am very white, but I love Indian food! My mom and,i stopped in for lunch, and we were blown away. The restaurant is very casual, it's a great place to stop for lunch. Pretty good indian in NW Houston with decent prices too. I havent been to the original to say which location is better but for a 2nd location, I'd say it was pretty good. One of my only complaints is that the atmosphere is fairly uninviting to sit and have a nice meal. I dined in, but saw many people come and order take out or pick up. Also, the menu for a meat eater is pretty limited. You have mostly all chicken dishes and 1 goat dish. I have tried this place more than a couple of times and every time they lacked in food quality and/or customer service. Chicken 65 was average tasting, I seriously doubt if it was made fresh though. Apollo Fish was bland, even the fried batter didn't give it any taste! Chicken Biryani was extra spicy and the salan that comes with the biryani was bland. And stay away from Sezchuan vegetables!! They gave us a stomach ache! Their idli and sambhar with chutneys used to be better tasting, unfortunately that has worsened as well. Their customer service needs a lot of improvement too. On one instance, the lady at the counter was extremely rude to us. She was ready to take the order of the person behind us without offering to talk to us or explain why. Food: Good Everything else: Disgusting Their food is okay. Not the best that I have had but what ticks me the most is how much waste and trash this restaurant is producing. Instead of using reusable plates they are serving food in Styrofoam plates with plastic cutlery. I care really deeply about our planet and this is terrible practice. Plus, on top of that, their soda machine is disgusting. The drinks started dispenses is either hot or mixed with water. We tried to get out some Fanta and instead we got some terrible version of Fanta which looked like it has been there forever. The naan that they gave me was rock hard and felt like papad. fortunately, the staff was friendly enough to take it back and give us some better version of it. A month ago, I was in a nearby motel craving for Indian food and nearly getting the jitters from hunger (Had to work all morning and afternoon nonstop.) Seeing this place was convenient and with one of the better reviews, I decided to order takeout. I went through their online menu and was disappointed descriptions of food items are not included; they are nice to have for those exposed to but not comfortably acquainted with Indian cuisine. So, I used the web for the tedious task of telling me what two-thirds of the items on the menu is. Ultimately, I ordered the kadai paneer, with request for it prepared "extra spicy", and plain naan. Boy, did they deliver on the "extra spicy" part - and I say that with delight. Being Thai, I know a thing or two about spicy food. It always disappoints me when I go to other restaurants where the definition of "extra spicy" is child's play. The food was piping hot (regardless, I microwaved the food when I got back to the motel), the flavors were fantastically savory, and everything was securely and nicely wrapped for takeout. This is true: I couldn't stop thinking about the place for an entire month after my first visit. Though what I say has been good so far, there were some disappointments: (1) The food was salty. I forgive them as the rice reduced the saltiness some, and, again, aside from the saltiness, the flavors were delectable. (2) Utensils and napkins were not packed with my takeout. (My motel had not a cafeteria for me steal eating utensils; so, I used a plastic fork I found in my glove compartment and some toilet paper with my meal.) I suppose it was my fault for not checking and asking for some. I've been too spoiled with takeout orders from other restaurants, I guess. (3) When the door to the kitchen opened, I saw a person in the back unmasked and without gloves and preparing food. This is not the first restaurant I've seen with people in the kitchen lacking proper PPE's. I take extra precaution when I order food from such places - I'd go home and reheat my takeout. I care not if people think I'm overreacting, but I'm willing to do whatever I can to keep my family and I safe. I was in the area recently and indulged in a second visit to Mayuri. I told myself the saltiness from my last visit was likely atypical of the place, and that everything else would be perfect (except, maybe, the people in the kitchen not wearing PPE's - that can't be helped sometimes). Once more, I ordered the kadai paneer - extra spicy - and naan. The food had just the right amount of salt; and the flavor was good, though not as savory as the last. The "extra spicy" part was a disappointingly missed. It wasn't even close to eating something as "spicy" as Hot Cheetos. I requested for utensils but received none. I cannot say I won't ever visit this place again, but I'm certainly not missing Mayuri right now. I do believe this restaurant has good days when all goes perfect, but it hasn't worked out for me, yet. read more

My wife and I have been ordering from here for a year now and have tried 80% of the menu and we plan to try everything, we didn't know what to get the first time so we ordered chicken 65 and picked two more random dishes and we loved all of them so much we decided to try more the next time. So far we not had anything we wouldn't order again. Their biryanis are great, their drums of heaven are heavenly, their goat vindaloo is delicious and their andhra chicken was amazing. Wedding catering review: We catered from them for our 3 day Indian wedding. First off, communication - most vendors (especially for Indian catering) weren't the most responsive when we reached out and did the tastings or with follow-ups after. Mayuri was always prompt, made time to meet us at our convenience and overall they were very professional. We had to add in an additional day of catering a couple of weeks before as well, and they jumped on it to help us out in a time crunch. Secondly, the food - one month later and our guests are still raving about the food. The variety and flavor of each dish was unparalleled. They even had a live tandoor at our reception for fresh naan and chicken tikka. As a side note, if one of the items needs some doctoring in your opinion, they make notes and tailor it accordingly too! Thirdly, the service - they met with us multiple times, visited the venue to ensure they had an appropriate idea of the amenities available, gave us suggestions on dishes to select, and were personally there to supervise the service. The managers Charanjit and Chenna Reddy did a great job and we are so grateful for their service. By far, the best vendor at our wedding! Lastly, the pricing - very reasonable as weddings can get expensive and for the service received, I would highly recommend them for any catering events!
