The food is pretty good...average Mexican fare. They have good vegetarian options and the buffet on the weekend is a great deal. My biggest complaint is the service. I have been in multiple times and every time they are exceptionally slow and I have to remind them of things they have forgotten to bring. I am usually there for business lunch meetings so it particularly annoys me to have to babysit staff to get what we ordered or get drinks refilled while we are trying to get things done. I saw the review on here about having your cars overcharged. I had a friend complain to me about this but she is a bit of a drama queen, now I'm not so sure. If I go again I will make sure to pay cash just in case. read more

Wasn't impressed. Waited 5+ minutes after being seated to be acknowledged by the server even though the restaurant was fairly empty. After I placed my order for chicken fajitas and sat again for 10 minutes waiting on the food, 2 other servers asked If I needed a menu. One of them was the original person who sat me and gave me a menu. As for the taste of the food. It was ok. Don't expect your fajitas to come on a sizzling pan. This place is awesome! It is a family owned restaurant; not like the other mexican restaurants around here (mostly chains serving pre-prepared frozen beans and rice plates that put them in the conveyor oven then add some chicken to the plate. While visiting Everett we stopped in here because it was close to our hotel. It was very quiet probably due to construction in the area. Salsa and bean dip were really good and drinks were great. I had the blood orange margarita. Service was okay and food was pretty good. My only complaint was the meat in my steak a la Mexican tasted like....well...meat. Taco Tuesdays here is awesome. All you can eat tacos (hard shell w/ chicken or beef) for $5 with purchase of a drink. This deal is for the bar only. We paid an extra dollar for soft shells and they were pretty good. Just basic meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato tacos. The beef tacos were pretty runny and didn't have a ton of flavor. Can't complain though when you get as many as you want for $5. read more

I used to live above mazatlan in the potala village apartments. I actually really liked this restaurant but the prices are high. I mean like several dollars more then most Mexican restaurants in downtown everett. The food is great, portions are on the small side. I was getting a 15% discount since I lived about them so that helped. But most meals are gonna be $10-15 at least per person plus drinks etc......I would go again tho. They always seem slow when I went there so not sure how long they will be in buisness. Go there and check it out for yourself!! read more

If this was just a review of the happy hour I'd give it an extra star. The meals itself are okay for a Mexican chain restaurant. There are other options.nearby that are more authentic and flavorful. I love the salsa that they serve with the chips just as you sit down. We ordered nachos and enchilladas. The food was excellent! I lived in California for years and I found, this meal to be the most authentic mexican food, since I lived there. The poor reviews in the begining of this feed are accurate that it isn't mexican/american food. This food is mexican 100% Since I love authentic mexican food, I found this a surprising delight. The decor is beautiful! The staff were polite, helpful, fast, clean and orderly. I found the price to be very low for the amount of food served and compared to other nearby restaurants. Was excited to go to this restaurant for the first time, but left with a sour taste in my mouth! Great parking area, especially on those days when they might be snow or rain. Place is cheerful, plenty of light, great bar, awesome decor, truly like the large pictures of bygone Mexican actresses, actors, singers etc, it leads to conversation as you try to figure their names. The staff is friendly, but not honest! To begin with, they do not tell you the prices of Margaritas, the menu does not have prices, although, they are quick to recommend the "Mazatlan Margarita" which as per them is made from fresh lemons and oranges. It is this "freshness" that prompts you to order without realizing that this particular drink is a whooping $ 8.50. I would not have mind if the drink would have live to its expectation. For the above price, i would have expected "Patron" shot added to it instead of a cheap tequila plus the fresh lemon and oranges promised. It was below average. The chips were rancid and less than edible! The food menu is extensive with descriptions that water your mouth, but this is as far as they go. Ordered the steak, chicken with prawns, the steak was supposed to be medium rare it came as a beef jerky, it was overcooked and tough! the chicken was also tough with no taste whatsoever! The prawns were edible but nothing exciting. The rice was pale and without taste, the beans were passable. In all it was mediocre at best! They brought another piece of "medium rare steak" but this also was tough but less jerky. I am not sure if this has to do with their meats not being of good quality or the cook does not knows how to cook steaks. It is sad to point out that we rancid or not finished the chips, as the main dish was not good. Left the chicken, left the beef jerky, and hubby and i share the 5 shrimps with tortillas as this was the only passable meal for the night. We did ordered a cheese enchilada, which the hubby thought it was good. My opinion how can you mess up a tortilla with melted cheese? Yes, we did pay for the whole meal, regardless of not eating it, they still charge you. No apologies giving, no inquires about how everything was, no discount. I never though i would one day say this but Azteca is much better and this is saying a lot! Would i come back, NEVER. A word to the restaurant owner/manager, if you wish to compete and remain with the doors open for a long time, either hire a new chef/cook or revamp your menu by incorporating good meats and adding the flavors that make Mexican food a joy to eat! read more

My family has been here a couple of times and we are impressed with their teamwork and dedication to providing a wonderful experience. Danny, Kathy and Miguel always seem to provide a professional touch the couple of time we have been there. I even think the proprietor came out and sat with us a few times (Ricardo?). In Everett, where there are a few choices in Hispanic food, Mazatlan always puts a personal touch that the others leave out. You come to appreciate the difference and we are happy to support the local staff as they consistently raise the bar for quality and service that few other restaurants offer in the area. my girlfriend and my self stopped in after a long day at the hospital. all we really wanted was a margarita and maybe some grub when we walked in it was slow and only one other person in the bar! usually we like to go into the bar because we feel like u get faster more personalized service! which is awesome when it actually works. when we walked in we sat our self, the girl that was working the bar stood around talking to what I image was the regular. she finally made her way to our table and dropped off some menus, my girlfriend got a margarita which was ok our server left for an extended period of time when she stepped back into the bar she gave us a look like she had forgot about us. she took our order when the food came out food was pretty bland I got the shredded beef enchiladas (extra money) every meat other then gr beef was extra... my girl friend got the same there was a minimal about of meat in our enchiladas deff not worth our money... upon check out I remembered about our pirq app for a 20% off sweet I'm always down for a deal well unfortunately I had to walk to the other side to redeem my 20% just to find out the pirq punch card reader was down from working in the food in bev. I know costumer is always rite and all ways find a way to give your costumer what they deserve and they POS system has a discount option. trust me it was not the 20% that I did not receive. that upset me its the fact the it was not our fault and the staff did nothing to try and make it better and had an IDGAS attitude *oh and my I point out that when I did walk to the pirq reader the full staff was standing at a booth talking hanging out drinking there sodas... now I see...* need to say prob not going back... read more

Walk in to near empty restaurant (only 2 other tables and a handful of bar patrons). We stood at the host desk for what seemed to be ten minutes before a woman got up from a table behind the front door and asked if we needed to be sat a table for two...OK, thanks for noticing and taking a break from Candy Crush. Lol. We were about to leave and go elsewhere and I wish we had. Our waiter was at the table a total of four times. Take drink order. Deliver drinks. Take food order. Drop check. He never checked back with us on food quality, additional drinks nor did he being the water we asked for. Taquito app was good. Margaritas fine for the price. Entrees highly disappointing and underwhelming. I had a chicken bone in the first bite of my enchilada. I'm surprised I was able to find the bone through the mess of non-melted glob of pasteurized cheese on top. Rice was dry like it had been in the steam table all day. Chicken wasn't shredded and had to be cut with a knife in order to eat. The tortilla was soggy. I should have taken a pic of my plate. I'm not one to waste food or my hard earned $$$, but I pushed the plate away from me and asked for the bill...Still hungry and not satisfied. Plate full of "food". This is after a woman tried taking the order plate mid-bite!! (Please..just get me my check so I can get out of here. )The chicken bone was never addressed. Didn't even get a sorry ma'am. We had lunch here yesterday. Great service and really good food. Everything was fresh and tasty. The portions were very large - wish they had lunch specials on Saturday, or options for smaller plates. These were dinner size and we could not finish. Excellent service. As we were leaving (the parking garage is in the back), the owner was arriving with a pickup full of supplies, including fresh produce. He thanked us for coming. My wife and I have been here on a few different occasions. The service has been great each time and the staff, including the bar tenders, are very friendly. The food is always very hot and taste great. You will always find your chips and salsa filled and refills on drinks as well. The price is also very good based on the portion size that you get. They have also started a late night happy hour with live DJ on Friday nights doing Latin and Top 40's and even an area in the bar where people were dancing Salsa. I find this very cool being there aren't many places north of Seattle for this kind of thing, especially with no dress code or cover to get in the door. My friend and had to share a menu. No the place wasn't packed. We were in the bar how can the waitress not notice that. It took us twenty min just to decide because we had to back and forth. Oh I know why the waitress didn't do our say anything because she was gabbing with customers. People I'm going to assume she knew since they all hugged. I ordered basic food because I'm not going to splurge on a first time experience. My friend said her food was decent. No one came to ask us how it was. We sat there for 30 after our plates were empty because the waitress was socializing and apparently managers don't bother to pick up the slack. Seriously he looked at me, then my plate, and kept walking. Uh hello!!! I obviously wasn't going to get the check. My friend waved and yes the waitress came over to grab one plate and walk away. Maybe she wanted two trips for some exercise or whatever. She then asked if we wanted desert. I replied with a "no thank you" with the intention of creating a tone of "really". I had to ask for a pitcher of water because my friend and I had been neglected. You don't serve spicy food with no refreshments. duh!! If I was going to leave a tip it would have been, "you get a percentage of what I pay for my meal based on your service." And to the manager if you can't manage your employees to do their job it is your job, by definition, to pick up the slack. I'd love to go again because the menu looked decent but I'm pretty sure with this review they'd spit in my food. read more

So we drove to this place like 20 minutes away to get some Mexican food. The hours of operation stated open til 10 on Tuesday and it was almost 10 when we walked in the bar part of the restarunt. We were told the kitchen was closed. I asked the guy why the kitchen was closed if it was not 10 pm yet. He stated that the kitchen staff wanted to go home. I know a chef, and he doesn't like last minute orders either. But you serve paying customers during business hours or you change your business hours. Pretty simple. I told the gentleman who turned us away that I would reflect the circumstances that occured in my Yelp review. He mocked me. Laughed in my face like it was a joke that Yelp could affect his business. So if you want one star service with an attitude this place is serving it up hot.
