I saw Mazra on Grubhub and tried to do a pickup order for my group, but the system wouldn't let me complete the order when I got to the final checkout step. I wished they'd say they were not accepting Grubhub orders at the moment so I didn't keep trying to place the order. I ended up ordering from Mazra directly using the Toast limit hat they texte me. The place was busy on a Tuesday night, and they had a lot of takeout orders ready when I checked in at the front. When I got back to the car I realized they didn't include utensils though so I went back to request them. I got the dish that I liked at the other Mazra location - double chicken kebab plate with baba ghanoush and tried the beet dip this time which was tasty too. I also tried the fried chicken and hummus that others in my group ordered. We shared the banana date shake. My group liked the food. Portions are large so we had leftovers.

I've dined at the original Mazra in San Bruno many years ago. This location has beautiful outdoor seating however it was quite cold and windy and it wasn't until I went to the bathroom at the end did I notice that they also had garden seating in the back -- I would've liked to be offered that as a dining option as it looked quite sunny and calm. Service was friendly. You scan the QR code to place your order. They bring the food to your table as it's made. The appetizers were small and a little overpriced -- especially the halloumi for $12 and falafel for $9, both were tiny 3 bite items. I was hoping the wings $16 would be more flavorful but you really need their dipping sauce. Fries $6 were basic. I enjoyed the kofta kebab more than the lamb kebab -- both were $9. The best was the beef shawarma wrap for $16, both flavorful and a good sharing size. Total bill $78.02 -- a little weird that you're asked to tip prior to even being served your meal

(Downtown Redwood City) Food: *CHICKEN SHAWARMA PLATE(9.3/10)- Crispy Thin Slices of Chicken, Includes Basmati Rice, Hot Sauce, Garlic "Toum" Sauce, Pita Bread & Your Choice Of TWO Sides. *RICE CONTAINS BUTTER* . Chicken was seasoned and tasted well. Pita bread was slightly warm. Hummus was fresh. French fries were cooked and seasoned well *DOUBLE KEBAB PLATE (9.3/10)- Kofta(90% Beef and 10% lamb) was so good, cooked well and easy to bite. Wish portion was higher. Lamb and rice were also deliciously made. Only complain is not enough protein compared to the rice portion *WHOLE CAULIFLOWER (9.6/10)-Heirloom Cauliflower Drizzled w/ Lemon Tahini, topped w/ fresh micro greens. Roasted and seasoned really well. Love the addition of lemon to add acidity to the dish. Semi crunchy and easy to bite. My favorite dish and is unique *FALAFEL (9.5/10)-Freshly Ground Chickpeas, Herbs, and Spices. Includes Hot Sauce & Tahini. Perfectly made. Crispy outside and soft on the inside. Ingredients are fresh and is very green. Flavor is spot on goes well with the sauce. Ambience: very beautiful and unique. Stands out compared to many restaurants. Love the rooftop sky view with the Mediterranean feel. Has indoor/outdoor sitting. Service: order by QR code on your table. Server brings you a warm water container. Staff is kind Price: reasonably priced Parking: has meter parking around the area. Can be difficult to find parking

Mazra is a beloved Bay Area gem! It's a must visit for me anytime we have visitors in town. Not only is their food fresh and delicious, their hospitality and warmth radiate through the restaurant. It does get busy on the weekends and we've been turned away from even joining the waitlist at times, but I'll always keep going back. The space itself is beautiful and welcoming, and you can smell the char of the grilled meat from down the block. Some of my go-tos are the chicken shawarma plate, beef shawarma plate, garlic rotisserie plate, and halloumi cheese rolls. We always get extra garlic sauce and hot sauce. This time, we also tried the whole cauliflower. It was delicious, but can get a bit rich/heavy if you eat too much. It was great for sharing though. Love the mint lemonade and all of their sides are fantastic as well - my favorites are the roasted potatoes and the baba ghannoush.

Loved this place. I would have given them a 5 star, only if it wasn't self service and the spacing between tables were not so tightly packed. It was difficult to have a "serious" conversation while dining there. The food was excellent and packed with flavors. The chicken shawarma was delicious and the meat was moist. The kebab was equally good. I also liked their side dishes- garlic potatoes. Would definitely come back again.

Whenever I'm in Redwood City and craving Mediterranean cuisine, my family and I always come here! I'm not usually one who goes for Mediterranean food, but I never pass on MAZRA. Usually during lunch time or weekends, there's a wait of around 10-15 minutes, but it goes by pretty fast. Walking into the restaurant, there's plenty of seating inside and out. The staff here are also friendly and welcoming! We usually order their Double Kebab Plate (Lamb) with hummus and tzatziki dips. Moreover, their Whole Cauliflower is one of my favorite dishes! The sauce is so tasty, and all the seasonings just go together so nicely. Adding onto that, their Grilled Lamb Chops Plate is a must try! The lamb is always cooked perfectly, and everything just goes together! I'd highly recommend trying this place!!

Garlic Rotisserie Plate ($22)

Very fresh! My favorite was the grilled arayes which were so nicely seasoned and piping hot. Very good with the hummus. The Cheese Halloumi rolls were nice a crispy with generous amounts of cheese; didn't love it with the honey though. Very fresh pita bread that went well with all the dips. For my entree, I got the garlic rotisserie plate. While the chicken was cooked perfectly, it tasted like a plain rotisserie chicken with no garlic flavor. The garlic flavor just came from the garlic sauce which comes with almost all other entrees anyways. Fries and garlic potatoes were decent. Someone else in my party also ordered the garlic rotisserie chicken and her chicken came out dry, so that raises concerns about consistency. The service was good despite how busy they were. Absolutely LOVE the interior. Would come back, but not drying to.

TL;DR: a Bay must if you even only 'kinda-like' Mediterranean Great service, friendly staff, overall just good vibes. Perfect for both intimate meals and large gatherings. We ordered way too much to keep straight in my head but just peep the pics and order away - I promise you can't miss with anything on the menu. Cheers, Mazra!

GRILLED CHICKEN WINGS
Jamie K.

if you love chicken wings, get them HERE !! these are good quality wings for a good price, and not dry AT ALL despite tasting like the fire from a grill. Seating outside is perfect for a summer evening, and our server was so sweet. the hummus and yogurt dip were solid and portions are more than enough

Double Kebab Plate

Mazra in Redwood City absolutely lives up to the hype. For flavor and quality alone, I think it's one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in the Bay Area. We ordered: Double Kebab Plate (chicken kebab and filet mignon kebab): both were juicy, but the filet mignon was the best. It was tender, flavorful, and easily became our favorite dish of the meal. Steak Shawarma Plate: came with a surprisingly generous amount of meat. The bowl was packed with steak, and every bite was well-seasoned and delicious. Drinks (spiced iced tea and banana date shake): both were great, but the banana date shake was especially satisfying This place is very popular, so be prepared for a wait. We put our name on the waitlist and waited a little over 30 minutes for a table. But once we were seated, the food came out quickly and the service was efficient. The portions are huge, the food is consistently excellent, it's easy to see why there's always a crowd. I can't recommend Mazra enough and will definitely be back.

Halloumi Cheese Roll
Melody T.

Wow the food is amazing!!! The portion size is so large too that I barely made a dent before taking the rest home. The halloumi cheese rolls.... Still thinking about them months later LOL It's pretty much self service in the way that after they seat you, you order yourself on your phone, get your own utensils, but they do check on people often! It was nice sitting outside until the rain got us BUT otherwise I think on a nice sunny day, it would be a nice chill place to eat :)

6-Hour Lamb Shank

Giving this place 4/5 stars because it is definitely a bit overhyped imo haha. The food IS good, the restaurant is beautiful, and service was good. HOWEVER, I'm not sure the flavors were anything special. Yes, the food is so vibrant and the variety is awesome. But from all the dishes we got, nothing stood out and made us yell "YUM". The portions are good for the price, but again.....it wasn't too worth it after tasting the food. None of it was bland, but none of it was as flavorful as we expected (from the colors, presentation, variety, etc.). My expectations were just very high coming in and I was a bit disappointed..... At the end of the day though, this is a solid Mediterranean restaurant. A great place to come with friends or family. A menu with lots of variety to please everyone!

Chicken Shawarma

Why 5 stars? Because I will be thinking about the Chicken Shawarma for a long time. --- --- --- As a conference I was attending nearby was soon to wrap up, I placed a pickup order from Mazra so I could scarf down lunch before meeting up with a friend. I was inside the building for approximately 6.2 seconds to grab my bag and then walked about a mile to my hotel where this was consumed. I share that detail with you to illustrate that it's not like I ate this the way god intended. And yet, upon the first bite hitting my lips, the delay in consumption proved to not matter. I really don't know how this managed to be so amazing. Was it the bread? Was it the chicken? Was it the fixins? All of the above? Either way, I loved every bite and the sauces that accompanied were great too. I think one was a little light garlic mix and the other was something with an orangeish hue. I enjoyed taking pretty much every other bite alternating sauces because they were very different but equally enjoyable. Mazra's excellent Yelp rating is very much earned and I am glad I got to experience it!

Is there a long wait for a table for 6 on a Saturday night?

It depends. We've been there on Saturday nights and sometimes we get seated right away, other times its like a 30 minute wait. Which is not bad considering how busy they get.

Is it legal to bring bottled beer or bottled wine? If it is legal, what about alcohol like bourbon?

I'm fairly certain there's a BYOB charge listed on the menu where you can bring whatever you'd like, almost like a corkage fee

Do they serve alcohol?

No, halal restaurant. However, BYOB is fine

Do they take reservations?

No not over the phone, and I couldn't find any online mechanism either. As of 4/16/24

The chicken was nicely cooked and I liked the garlic sauce (definitely on the stronger side!) and potato wedges. I wish the chicken was a little more grilled for some extra char, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. Overall, good food and pleasant dining experience! Hope this restaurant gets more attention!

I had just flown in that day from Houston and I wanted dinner, but I was on central time and ready to go to bed early, so I didn't want to sit down in an actual restaurant. A food truck, not to mention a highly rated food truck was the perfect solution for what I needed. I couldn't resist the NYC Chicken Tikka Masala, because I enjoy all four words of that dish, so what could go wrong? The guy made it for me and handed me this thick boy to-go box, which I promptly walked to my rental car and opened up to see a 10/10 visually appealing heaping meal. And then I took a bite and.... where was the flavor? I took another bite. Same thing. And another. And another. Bland tikka masala?? How does this happen? After I had several bites, I came to the conclusion that it tasted like chicken dipped into water. There was literally no taste to the sauce. Was an ingredient forgotten? Did I come to close to closing time (30 minutes)? I really don't know. I enjoyed the pita bread and the salad concoction, but I will forever be bummed thinking about the alternative places I almost visited before choosing to grab dinner here.
