They remember the little things and are incredibly attentive--many times they've brought us water and a high chair before we even had a chance to ask. The food is consistently excellent. Our go-to dishes are the kebabs and the cauliflower, which are always amazing. It's not easy finding a place that has both great food and a genuinely warm atmosphere, but Mazra does both really well. I grabbed a big order of their Argentinian empanadas for our World Cup final watch party, and everyone was blown away! The savory ones (especially the classic beef) had that perfect balance of spice, richness, and flaky crust, while the sweet empanadas with dulce de leche were pure heaven!!! Unfortunately it's as good as everyone says it is. I got the chicken shawarma plate and it came hot, the food was seasoned so well. The baba ganoush was really good. The fries were a bit stale tasting but if fresh they could have been really good. We've been wanting to come to this place so many times but the line and wait is always so long. Reservations are impossible to book online for dinner and when we got there on a weekday for dinner we had to wait about half an hour. So lunchtime is a good time to go if you hate waiting. I saw Mazra on Grubhub and tried to do a pickup order for my group, but the system wouldn't let me complete the order when I got to the final checkout step. I wished they'd say they were not accepting Grubhub orders at the moment so I didn't keep trying to place the order. I ended up ordering from Mazra directly using the Toast limit hat they texte me. The place was busy on a Tuesday night, and they had a lot of takeout orders ready when I checked in at the front. When I got back to the car I realized they didn't include utensils though so I went back to request them. I got the dish that I liked at the other Mazra location - double chicken kebab plate with baba ghanoush and tried the beet dip this time which was tasty too. Service was friendly. You scan the QR code to place your order. They bring the food to your table as it's made. The appetizers were small and a little overpriced -- especially the halloumi for $12 and falafel for $9, both were tiny 3 bite items. I was hoping the wings $16 would be more flavorful but you really need their dipping sauce. Fries $6 were basic. I enjoyed the kofta kebab more than the lamb kebab -- both were $9. Mazra is a beloved Bay Area gem! It's a must visit for me anytime we have visitors in town. Not only is their food fresh and delicious, their hospitality and warmth radiate through the restaurant. It does get busy on the weekends and we've been turned away from even joining the waitlist at times, but I'll always keep going back. The space itself is beautiful and welcoming, and you can smell the char of the grilled meat from down the block. Some of my go-tos are the chicken shawarma plate, beef shawarma plate, garlic rotisserie plate, and halloumi cheese rolls. We always get extra garlic sauce and hot sauce. This time, we also tried the whole cauliflower. It was delicious, but can get a bit rich/heavy if you eat too much. It was great for sharing though. Whenever I'm in Redwood City and craving Mediterranean cuisine, my family and I always come here! I'm not usually one who goes for Mediterranean food, but I never pass on MAZRA. Usually during lunch time or weekends, there's a wait of around 10-15 minutes, but it goes by pretty fast. Walking into the restaurant, there's plenty of seating inside and out. The Cheese Halloumi rolls were nice a crispy with generous amounts of cheese; didn't love it with the honey though. Very fresh pita bread that went well with all the dips. For my entree, I got the garlic rotisserie plate. While the chicken was cooked perfectly, it tasted like a plain rotisserie chicken with no garlic flavor. Mazra in Redwood City absolutely lives up to the hype. For flavor and quality alone, I think it's one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in the Bay Area. We ordered: Double Kebab Plate (chicken kebab and filet mignon kebab): both were juicy, but the filet mignon was the best. It was tender, flavorful, and easily became our favorite dish of the meal. Steak Shawarma Plate: came with a surprisingly generous amount of meat. The bowl was packed with steak, and every bite was well-seasoned and delicious. Drinks (spiced iced tea and banana date shake): both were great, but the banana date shake was especially satisfying This place is very popular, so be prepared for a wait. We put our name on the waitlist and waited a little over 30 minutes for a table. But once we were seated, the food came out quickly and the service was efficient. The portions are good for the price, but again.....it wasn't too worth it after tasting the food. Because I will be thinking about the Chicken Shawarma for a long time. --- --- --- As a conference I was attending nearby was soon to wrap up, I placed a pickup order from Mazra so I could scarf down lunch before meeting up with a friend. I was inside the building for approximately 6.2 seconds to grab my bag and then walked about a mile to my hotel where this was consumed. I share that detail with you to illustrate that it's not like I ate this the way god intended. And yet, upon the first bite hitting my lips, the delay in consumption proved to not matter. I really don't know how this managed to be so amazing. Was it the bread? Was it the chicken? Was it the fixins? All of the above? Either way, I loved every bite and the sauces that accompanied were great too. I think one was a little light garlic mix and the other was something with an orangeish hue. I enjoyed taking pretty much every other bite alternating sauces because they were very different but equally enjoyable. Lemon-tahini dressing was applied in the just the right amount to give flavor and creaminess without being heavy or overwhelming. 2. Falafel mezza sampler (6 falafel, muhamarra, hummus, baba ghannoush, tzatziki, cucumber yogurt, slightly creamy roasted beet spread), $24. Excellent also! I especially liked the muhamarra (roasted red bell peppers, walnuts, pomegranate molasses), baba ghannoush, and beet spread (garbanzo beans, roasted beets, tahini, lemon, olive oil--basically beet hummus), but all of the spreads were really good. Comes with 3 piping hot pita breads. 3. Street wrap lamb kebob, $16. My son ate this, and he said it was good. 4. Saffron mushroom kebob (mesquite-grilled/saffron-infused oyster mushrooms with garlic toum and hot sauce), $9. Very good! A small plate. 5. Spiced black tea, free. Very good! I absolutely love Mazra! I have been several times to the RWC location and hope to go to their San Bruno location soon. Even though the cutlery, water, and complimentary tea are self serve and you order your food and drinks via a QR code, the hospitality of the staff is attentive and quick. Also the online menu has pictures for us visual eaters! It's located on pedestrian-friendly walkway with both outdoor and indoor seating but parking is a bit difficult during peak dinner time. I have tried the double kebab plate, the chicken shawarma plate, the roasted beet salad, the whole cauliflower, the grilled lamb chops, the garlic rotisserie chicken, the basmati rice, the French fries, garlic potatoes and nearly all the dips from the hummus to the tzatziki to the baba ganoush. Not a single entree, salad or side disappointed. Every single item I've tried here has been fantastic, perfect texture whether it's crispy or creamy, fresh, delicious and a generous serving size portion. We ordered the dip trio, whole cauliflower, and 2 kebab plates to share (which was plenty for 3 people). Everything was so good and very filling. So many positive reviews for Mazra, I had to check it out! There are plenty of great Mediterranean spots in the Bay Area, but Mazra exceeded my expectations. It was obvious from the first bite that this wasn't just another kebab-and-hummus restaurant trying to blend in with the rest. I ordered the grilled salmon, and it was cooked perfectly tender, flaky, and finished with a subtle smoky flavor. Even the rice was incredibly flavorful with a slight tang that balanced the richness of the meal really well. The biggest surprise, though, was the fries. I've had Mazra bookmarked for ages and it did not disappoint! We went on a Friday night almost around the time of closing and they were still busy. We were worried they weren't seating any more parties, but luckily we were able to get in at the last minute! The space itself looks quite beautiful, with a cool Mediterranean/Middle Eastern vibe and lots of greenery. They had QR codes where you could order from the tables, but we were having trouble with it and were able to order at the register up front. For drinks, we got a mint lemonade and a cantaloupe melon. Both were good, but the cantaloupe melon was especially refreshing and yummy! Now for the food - we got the whole cauliflower, a double kabob plate, and a steak shawarma plate. Both of the plates came with sides, so we got a bunch of the dips to try and some roasted veggies. My fave was 100% the double kebab plate. Everything about it was sooooo flavorful, from the rice to the meat. For the two proteins, we got the chicken and the beef kofta. It was my first time having beef kofta, and I was surprised by how soft and tender the meat was. I was doubly impressed by the chicken, which was white meat, which is normally not my preference, but was still so juicy and flavorful. Ugh it was so good. It's tender with lot of spices and a sauce at the bottom. + Double Kebab Plate (comes with pita and 2 sides) - you choose 2 proteins (lamb and filet mignon in our case), and that sits on a bed of saffron rice. The meats were so tender and flavorful. + Grilled Veggie Bowl (comes with pita and 2 sides) - I never knew veggies could taste this good. We were told that the wait would be between 30-45 minutes so just be aware that the restaurant gets very busy around dinner time. Hummus tasted fresh and fries were crispy. Would have liked more sauce on the side. Falafel wrap (4/5): The falafels were well cooked - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Was told 15-20 minutes so one of our party members went next door to get Masala Fries from Zareen's as a quick snack. Not even 3 mins later, we were told our table for MAZRA was ready. We were brought to the back but then they realized they were taking us to the wrong table so we had to go back to where we came from. Got seated with menus and proceeded to order via QR code. I ordered the double shawarma plate - opted for chicken and filet mignon (+$2) with hummus and fries as my side ($28 total). I also added their baked chicken wings (8 pieces for $16). The food came out one by one at a reasonable time. At one point, they came out with a Shawarma wrap that nobody ordered. I was the last one to get my order. I had to ask someone to check on my order and when she asked me what it was, I told her my order and she responded "oh maybe the chicken wings is why we are busy." I don't think she meant any harm in that but I thought to myself "did my wings set the whole kitchen behind lol?" 2 mins later, my food came but it was not warm at all so must've been sitting at the window, forgotten. They brought me 2 hummus instead of 1 hummus and 1 fries so I had to ask about it again. Came out in less than 30 seconds. As for the food - everything tasted pretty bland. It definitely needed the sauce they gave but I always think if a food NEEDS the sauce for flavor, something isn't right. It was a bit disappointing of an experience to have cold food with lacking flavors for $54. I will say that the cauliflower was my favorite item surprisingly. A vegetable was the most flavorful thing out of everything. Really friendly people nonetheless. They were passing out dates to people waiting in line or for their food like us.
