Small food truck located behind Stanford Health Care in Redwood City. The owner is the only employee of the food truck and all dishes are made fresh so expect there to be a slight wait during peak lunch time. The owner is very nice and accepts payment in card, cash, Apple Pay, and online orders. I tried his stuffed grape leaves which has a pomegranate sauce on top of them making it extra sour. Perfect for those who like their dolmas extra sour. As for the plate, it is a very generous portion given its price. I had to split my plate into two meals. The chicken and beef are not shredded meat but rather like a meatball or patty texture. There is a garlic sauce and hot sauce on top which isn't too spicy initially but does build a little as you go. The flavors are very nice, however, since the sauce is only on top and the bowl is big, there tends to be a lack of flavors the deeper down into the rice you go. The plate also has a side of lettuce and pickled onions that are also extremely sour. The pita bread was delicious and added a nice texture to the plate.

Outstanding service, outstanding food, and a great chef/owner. So glad I found this place. Will be back soon!

I am a regular for this hidden gem for last three years now. I did tried most of the items on their Menu, I never been disappointed from the taste, quality, prices & service. the falafels, Hummus, Babaganoush, Shakshuka & for sure the Gyros are amazingly flavorful.

    NYC Chicken Gyro Over Rice

Huge fan of the NY style Halal chicken over rice ever since I came to the US in 2016. I used to eat a lot of it in my university in NY (state) and I'd opt to always go for this as my go to meal over anything else if given a choice. I must say I was really excited when I first found this place serving NY style chicken over rice and saw the reviews. I must say I'm glad I found this food truck. The drive from Mountain View is well worth it! The plate comes with SO much chicken. Extremely tender. The rice also has a flavor and is definitely not to the blander side. You can ask for it to be saucy (white/spicy) if you want it but I don't like way too much white sauce. It comes with just enough sauce by default. You can purchase extra sauce and I usually get an extra spicy sauce - I love the kick it has. The plate also does come with a large pita. The whole plate can potentially last a second meal depending on your appetite at the time. I've been here a couple of times and will keep coming. My friends also like their falafel plate and the hummus, they're recommended too. Haven't tried the other stuff yet. Parking can be a challenge - there's some parking right in front just before the In N Out if you want to park there, and quickly pick up the food in a couple of minutes. But technically you may not be allowed to park there. There's no place to sit and eat here. Amir, the owner, is a friendly guy.

I tried the chicken gyro and the house original falafel, and it was delicious. The chicken was flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the falafel was fresh and crispy. Everything tasted homemade and well seasoned. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area!

I really liked the plates - the hummus and Babaganoush were just alright! The falafels were good but not the best I have had! The best bite in all the food I ordered was the chicken tikka plate - could amp up the spice more ! What I remember of the halal carts outside of the hotels in NYC is the amped up spicy sauce! Will I go back - heck! Yeah !!! Super nice owner

I was working from home and craving falafel (which happens a lot) when I did a Yelp search and noticed what appeared to be a long-standing food truck on Veterans Blvd; and not more than 5 minutes from my house. Obviously I had not been paying enough attention. I made a beeline. I arrived to see the truck parked right where Yelp said it was. (It's 1/2 block from In-N-Out.). Unfortunately there wasn't any legal parking nearby, but I found an illegal spot in a nearby lot that wasn't monitored. Good enough. The falafel came in only one form; a platter. This consisted of seven falafel balls, shredded veggies (lettuce, onions, pickled cabbage), homemade pita bread (yay!) and two sauces (one yogurty, one spicy). Unfortunately, the falafel itself left me underwhelmed. It was very airy and bready; it had almost no aroma, and it was weirdly lacking in flavor. The typical spice-tinged nuttiness I usually get from fresh falafel just wasn't there. I'd give it 4 out of 10 on the falafel scale. (I eat a lot of falafel.) I actually returned a few weeks later, just to be sure. The falafel was a bit different than before - it was greasier and a little denser, but the flavor was still very bland (apart from a mild taste of oil). Rating: Starting with average = 3 stars (as always): adding 1-star for the great price ($10); but subtracting 1-star for the weak falafel. It turns out Falafel and Things has a pretty large menu, including hummus platters, gyros, and even Indian dishes. Most are meat-based. Being a pescatarian (and not enjoying hummus as a main dish), there isn't really anything else for me to try here. Consequently I don't plan on returning.

I've been meaning to try this food truck for a while, and finally stopped by for takeout to eat at the nearest park. A good halal cart combo platter is probably my favorite comfort food, so I was particularly excited for the NYC CHICKEN AND BEEF/LAMB COMBO OVER RICE PLATE ($17.25). It came with both the white sauce and hot sauce drizzled on top, and unfortunately the latter was too spicy for me, but the meats (particularly the gyros) were tasty and not dry. I was less fond of the rice, which was pretty oily and heavily seasoned with spices that threw me off in this context. That said, portions were generous and while it doesn't compare to my favorite NYC halal carts, it's probably still one of your best options in the Bay. I also shared a FALA BABA GANOUSH ($14.95) plate, which was very solid. The namesake falafels were flavorful and crispy, and went well with the nice smoky baba ganoush.

Gyro over Rice and Hibiscus Lemon tea

In Redwood City and looking for lunch. I don't usually visit food trucks, but their menu was pretty big and the truck was located close by to the office. As some other reviewers noted, parking might be a bit tough but I was lucky and my order was ready in about 10 minutes. I requested more vegetables and less rice. The vegetables consisted of onions and some dressed lettuce. Quite a bit of onions but it was a good complement to the meat and rice. To me, the texture of the rice is more reminiscent of couscous. I liked it with the meat. Pita was warm and fluffy as well. Would've liked more sauce on the side. I also enjoyed the Hibiscus Lemon tea - cold and just the right amount of sweetness. As mentioned, quite a few menu items that I'd like to return to try.

Random food truck I found on the side of the street lol, but it had good reviews so I had to try it. They are generous in their serving size and everything tasted pretty good too be honest. It's not as spiced as a lot of other restaurants, but that's also ok. I think it may have more turmeric than other places though. It's a one man army and the food is good, so 7/10.

Yes! Good price for good portions! We came by on a Wednesday afternoon around 3PM, because we were passing by and looking for some good food! My partner chose this place based on Google reviews and it lived up to the expectations. The guy was nice and it seems like he mand the whole food truck by himself(At least on a Wednesday). He took our order and started cooking it. About a 5-10 min wait time, but the food was fresh and delicious. The box was full of rice, chicken and pickled veggies. My partner ordered the gyro combo with chicken. I had no intended to eat any, as I wasn't hungry, but after smelling it, i had to take a bite. I ended up eating half of it. It filled both of us up for $15. We haven't tried anything else yet, but if we came by this side of the bay, we would definitely stop by here again. Can't really beat $15 for such well seasoned and cooked food! What a hidden gem!

Mistakes happen, especially during busy weekends. What matters is how a business responds. The missing food was frustrating, but the broken promise and lack of follow-up were far more disappointing. This restaurant has been a family staple for years, but after this experience, we've decided to take it out of our family's regular rotation. The turmeric rice is perfectly buttery and moist. The pita is soft and pliable, but not too puffy - a great vessel for hummus with very brief charring. The hummus has good olive oil and is blended well. Personally, I do prefer it more smooth and with more lemon juice, but for the average person this is perfect texture. I almost always get the mixed grill here. It's a combination of large tender and moist chicken pieces, a thick beef kabob, and the well spiced kefta, which is very meaty, flavorful, and juicy (tastes like koobideh mixed with onions and other herbs). It's also great for sharing between two people. The meat is typically cooked perfectly medium rare or medium, but you can request it to be done however you like. We usually get 3 sauces, which taste like a smooth tzatziki, a sriracha tzatziki, and their spicy harissa that kind of has a sweet sambal-like thing going on for it. The food actually doesn't need any sauce, but they're good on anything. While my favorite thing to get are the kabob plates, their wraps are good and humongous if you need something handheld, though they'll most likely drip with juices. I'm not too fond of the shawarma because it's been hit or miss on the texture. It's rare that tabbouleh is chopped and proportioned to the perfect mixture I like, but they do that here (mostly greens with bits of fresh tomatoes and cucumber, and minimal bulgur). They are a small casual joint, so there is not too much seating, but they do have some inside and outdoors. I like calling in to order my kabob plates in advance because it typically takes 20 minutes to make. Out of all the casual Mediterranean spots from SF to SJ, Falafel Tazah is one of the best.

I watched him come out of the bathroom drying his hands with a paper towel, so I could see he'd actually washed up. Sounds small, but you'd be surprised how often that's not the case at restaurants, and it's an instant dealbreaker for me when it isn't. The bathroom itself was spotless too, which tells you the whole place is run right, not just the parts customers usually see. Fresh food, real hospitality, and a clean operation. This is the kind of place you want to find and tell people about. Highly recommend.

We had an overall okay experience, but the food didn't quite live up to our expectations…read more The ambiance was decent (3/5). The outdoor seating area has a lot of potential, though it feels like the space could be used more effectively. The indoor seating was much nicer and had a better atmosphere. One highlight was the gentleman working there, who was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind throughout our visit. His hospitality made the experience more enjoyable and left a positive impression. The salmon was probably the biggest disappointment. It seemed a bit overcooked, was served slightly cold, and was missing some of the buttery richness we were expecting. The chicken and beef souvlaki were both good and enjoyable, but they weren't particularly memorable. The fish and chips, unfortunately, fell short. The fries weren't very crispy, and the fish itself lacked flavor. Overall, nothing was terrible, but most of the dishes didn't really stand out. The friendly service was appreciated and helped offset some of the shortcomings in the food. We'd be open to giving the restaurant another try, but based on this visit, it was closer to a 2/5 experience for us
