Ok this is going to be a bit rosey... just because Mazza's was my first DINE IN sit down being served meal since March 2020 when the world turned topsy turvy. I actually got a bit emotional. That said, we ordered appetizer calamari to start off...it was just right with what may have been homemade ranch to dip it in.. we scarfed it down. Yum! You HAVE to get Mazza's salad and it was just as good as I remember it being in the 80s. I got eggplant Parmesan and my brother got fettuccini Alfredo which he added chicken to. Both very good... bigger than we could eat so we both took home leftovers. So not only was it as good as I remember and allowed me to relive fond memories but it was was delicious today and that made me happy read more

We were staying in Mt Vernon for the weekend and decided to try this place. I used the online reservation and we were seated immediately on a Saturday evening. Husband and I split a large salad and the chicken parm because the helpings were quite large. We had plenty to eat! Wait staff was friendly and courteous and food came in an appropriate amount of time. Warm bread and butter came out first which was a nice treat! Nice place with good food! read more

We went there on March 25,2019 and after having some concern from reading many reviews, we went with our group anyway. All 12 of us had fantastic meals...no complaints from any of our group. Great bread, Mazza Salad and the main courses. I had the Chicken Marsala and it was fantastic. Even better was my side of Alfredo, and at no extra charge like most Italian restaurants. It was the best I've had anywhere. My wife has never had better Chicken Parmigiana. Large, moist and tender. Some of the reviews talked about servers who never smile and who were inept. Our waitress took care of all 12 of us and never missed a step. She was wonderful, efficient and very friendly and a young, expecting mother of her third child. My only regret is that it's a 40 minute drive from Mansfield so we probably won't be going back EVERY week... but will be going back very often. read more

Sort of a small menu. Highly recommend the burrata appetizer. Mussels were great. We were extremely disappointed in our entrees- my boyfriend got the lamb parmesan and it was so tough that it was hard in spots... my eggplant parm was so salty, I could not eat it... and Mazzas eggplant parm is my favorite- I usually tell everyone to order it. I just experienced their take out menu and food for that today. They just reopened and offered that service. Food was great. Pick up was fast and event free and they were efficient and safe while bringing out to me. The food stayed warm until I got home and was truly enjoyable. We had been looking forward to dining at the "new" Mazza's ever since we learned about the return of the restaurant. Our party of five was seated at 6:30 on a Saturday evening. Though the restaurant was well attended, I wouldn't call it tremendously busy. After 10 minutes our server stopped at the table to ask whether we wanted appetizers. We ordered the Italian chips and charcuterie. She left, returned five minutes later and asked what we wanted for dinner. Because she never asked if we wanted drinks, we ordered those, and she was off again to get my daughter's Dr Pepper and my iced tea. We then ordered our dinners. Fifteen minutes later, my wife's drink hadn't been served. During this time, I saw our server on the floor maybe twice. I finally flagged her down and asked if she would check on the drink. Her reaction indicated she clearly had forgotten about it. After bringing it, she said the bar "had finally just made it." When my wife and daughter ordered, they said they were going to share a salad. When it was brought to the table, it was in one bowl. The person who brought it wasn't our server, and she disappeared so quickly, we didn't ask for another bowl or plate. As had been the case all night, our server was nowhere to be found. So my wife and daughter ate from the same bowl. I'm truly puzzled about the "famous" Mazza's salad. Everyone but me at the table had it, and all of the comments were how it was little more than lettuce drenched in garlic. The Italian chips were tasty but oversalted. Not the chips themselves but the cheese sauce. We ate about half of them. The charcuterie was an insult to the definition of what it should be. Fifty minutes after we had been seated, our entrees arrived. All of the food was lukewarm. One of the other servers brought it, leading me to believe it had been sitting, ignored by our server. Honestly, there simply is no way possible that our server had more than a few weeks of experience. That's fine; everyone needs to learn. But her continued absence from the dining area, you know, where the customers are, was baffling. She had no sense of urgency, preferring to disappear to the kitchen rather than checking to see if her diners needed anything. I spoke to the manager in private while the rest of our party was finishing their meals. To his credit, he seemed genuinely interested in what happened and asked for details. He also took care of the tab, which I insisted several times wasn't necessary. It was a class act by him, and his response was certainly the high point of the evening. Unfortunately. There simply is no reason for us to return. The Italian food was unremarkable and the seafood bland. I cannot imagine what the steaks are like. Thankfully, I won't have to find out. read more

I REALLY want to love this place, such great memories from the 80's .... this is only my 3d visit since it re-opened and maybe I'm ordering the wrong things, but its difficult to rave about it. This evening I tried the steak and hubby got veal parm. The bread and salad was awesome. Our server Cole was friendly and attentive. The steak was overdone (ordered med/rare) dry and tough. And because I ordered a mazza side salad (which came out ahead of the entree) nothing else came with the steak. Luckily I still had some iced tea to help get the steak down. $70plus (not including tip) for our 2 dinners is just not worth it to me to ever give it yet another try. read more

Mazza's is Back Baby! The new location is a perfect combination of class and past. The chicken parmigiana was excellent and my wife would not stop talking about her meal (Amatriciana). The salad was just as good as I remember it! The kids gobbled up the meatballs. Everyone enjoyed the housemade Tiramisu and Cannoli. We will be back as often as we possibly can. read more

Here's my advice. Wilted salad is never good. If it's a marination you want, incorporate that in something else atop fresh crispy lettuce. Remember, each dish should have at least 3 colors. Add arugula, capers, sun dried tomatoes and or anchovies to your dishes. Fresh cantaloupe and prosciutto is a summer staple to an Italian menu as well as a crowd pleaser. Fresh table ready Olive oil added to your bread (which is very good) is staple in Italian cuisine or an available dip of olive oil, Italian herbs and roasted garlic with the option of table ready chili flakes. Fresh lemon is a great companion to Calamari as well as the entire Calamari. You can exist but wouldn't you rather thrive? Research and you will find that expensive taste doesn't have to be expensive. read more

My wife and I traveled nearly an hour to meet friends at Mazzas. She really enjoyed her scallops and I really liked the chicken parm. We both enjoyed having a Mazzas salad. This is one of my new favorite places to go in Mount Vernon. The service was efficient and the staff was very polite and professional. I ordered a chicken parmesan and spaghetti with a meatball. It was a really good main course as well as the garlic bread as an appetizer. Overall, it was a good experience trying this venture for the first time. I realize they just opened on Wednesday but these are items that have been trying n their menu when the original restaurant was open. The antipasto salad didn't meet you what they had in the past, I left at least half in the bowl TGEN the French onion soup was way to salty and I let the waitress know, when our bill came we were surprised that we were charged for the soup, it was apparent the waitress (who did a good job) didn't tell mgmt about the soup, but she did go back and fix that OH and it took around 45 min for our food to be served read more

The one star is for the really nice waitstaff. The restaurant was incredibly dark and drab. But I figured the food would make up for it, and I was disappointed. Food was terrible, I've had $1 frozen food dinners that tasted better. I'm so disappointed to write this because all of us were super excited to try this place since it reopened. :( read more

We went for dinner after waiting on the "hype" to die down after their opening. Our food was wonderful, but the service was more than terrible. The wait was only 15 minutes when we arrived, so we knew they weren't terribly busy. We were seated quickly and our server came by our table. Our service was so poor, I don't think she even introduced herself before asking what we "needed". She offered to bring complementary bread, but noted that they were out of butter. When i asked for an alternative she said "I'll try to see if they can do that, but we're very busy and the kitchen staff doesn't like when we ask for extra things" -- there were 4 empty tables around us. We ordered drinks and someone brought out cold to-go butters before we had anything else on our table. Not long after being seated, we noticed that we only had one setting of silverware. We asked for a second when ordering our drinks, anticipating the need to utilize something to eat food with during our time there. Our waitress quickly said "I'll get that to you as soon as possible" -- after bringing our salads. She proceeded to bring 2 tables their checks, one drinks and cleared other tables before coming over to ask what we needed because we had been staring at her the entire time. Halfway finished with my salad, he asked if he could finally have silverware to begin eating his. Her response after bringing it was "we've apparently gotten off on the wrong foot" -- apparently. After this mishap, all was fine and well until our bill came. I had to ask for the bill to be reprinted to have dessert to go, and when paying for the bill with both a gift card (thankfully) and a debit card, she promptly came back and recited the total to us, and asked for payment for the remaining balance. Noticing earlier that she had dropped our debit card in her frenzy to "beat the rush" with now 7 empty tables, I waited to see what her response would be. We got takeout from Mazza's last week for dinner. Ordering was easy on the ap--though wished it had descriptions. Impressively, they called to verify our order when what we asked for was outside of their capabilities. (My son wanted plain Mac and cheese). Parked in the designated area and they brought it to the car with no difficulties. The food was good, but unremarkable. I am giving it a 4 because of the price, and not being a good value IMO. I will visit Mazza's again, but it will be for special occasions, not regular dining. read more

Awesome place for those who are know the legend behind the Mazza history. My opinion is the place is so beautiful and just a great place but for alot of people it's not a regular place for someone with a low wage to be able to afford which is perfectly fine because honestly I have never been a Italian food person but I think Mazza's is wonderful and they have high standards and its excellent for those who want something other than fast food for a change. So I am happy to see Mazzas back apart of mount vernon and proud to say this is where there roots come from. read more

Amazing food, great service. We went on a Friday and although the place was full, we were still receiving excellent service. So much so that I got a hold of the manager and let him know. I would definitely recommend that you have reservations like we did, but they were happy to try to accommodate someone that came in after us after a short wait. We had the charcuterie tray for appetizer and steaks with pasta for the entree. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert. Definitely will be going back! read more

A place that makes things right, all you have to do is ask! My family and I went out to dinner dinner twice now to Mazza's. Our first experience was not great but our second time was wonderful! We did not have a good experience the first time we ate there. My husband ended up getting a hold of a manager, Cory and he made thing right! He offered us to come back again and let them make things right with a dinner on them. Our first time going was on a Tuesday at 6:00pm. The place was about half full with several booths free. My family and I usually like to sit in a booth but the hostess indicated they were for reservations. We sat at a table instead and ordered pretty quickly. Our waiter, Chris was very good. We ordered cheese bread and calamari. Our cheese bread ended up being given to another table and our waiter apologized for the mix up. We continued to wait until around 7:15/7:20 until we got our main meals. Our waiter kept coming back several times apologizing for the wait and making sure we had our drinks full and extra bread if needed. By the time we got our food, it was so late, I asked if they could just box them up so we could go home. I have an 8 year old and we needed to get home to work on homework and start getting ready for bed. Also, side note, those booths they said were reserved... no one sat in them at all while we were there. When we got home to eat, my husband's and I's orders where not correct. We both ordered streak for our pasta but the steak was not prepared correctly and my pasta barley had any sauce on it, basically dry noddles. At that point, my husband was not happy at all. He contacted Mazza's and ended up talking to Cory. Cory was very helpful and stated he would have a reserved table for us for a night of our choice. We went back a little over a week later on a Thursday night, our reservation was for 6:30pm. The whole place was very busy and they currently had an event going on. I didn't see many tables open. Our waitress was also very good, sadly I do not remember her name. Wait staff was not an issue for us at all! We ordered quickly again. Our appetizers were out rather quickly, mozzarella marinara and the Italian chips. They were both great, especially the Italian chip, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM! We could have just got two orders of them and been done for the night. We ended up ordering the same orders as last time and everything was perfect. The pasta had enough sauce and the streak was made perfectly. Best part, we got our food in less than 30 minutes! We were out the door in about 45 minutes instead of waiting over an hour to just get our main course. Cory was good on his offer and comped our whole meal. We did end up offering to pay for one appetizer for good faith and due to have just a better experience this time! For such a busy evening, we had not issues at all! I can say my family and I will be back for another meal. We will defiantly be ordering the Italian chips! I think it says a lot about a place that makes things right! I am really glad we went back and gave it another try! If you have an issue speak up and staff will make sure to turn it around. I didn't feel I could give the full 5 stars due to the issues from our first experience but I have a feeling this place will get even better with time. They are a pretty new place and the staff looks pretty young. I think they will progress and be a staple in our little town. read more

They are back! Better than ever! We have eaten at the newly opened Mazza's five times. Have been trying different entrees each time. Each dish was delicious with fresh ingredients and very nice clean presentation. Atmosphere is a salute to the prior generations of Mazza's who brought their dream of an Italian restaurant to our community. From your first step into the foyer, you feel as though you are being welcomed into the Mazza's home. Smiles from three generations of family photographs and memorabilia are the first to greet you signaling you are in very capable hands. Our family of five (mom, Dad, two kids and a grandma) had reservations at Mazza's last night. We were seated immediately and greeted immediately by our server Maddie. Our appetizer arrived extremely fast and all entrees arrived an appropriate amount of time after ordering. Maddie's service was impeccable. She brought my picky 6 year old two different beverages, offered him a kids cup but asked if he wanted a "big glass like his brother." she refilled our wine whenever she was by the table. The food at Mazza's was excellent! No disappointments at all. We loved the garlicky Mazza's salad! I ordered the pork Marsala and had a side of Brussels sprouts. Husband had the lasagne and my mom had the shaved prime rib sandwich. We all thought the best dish of the table was ordered by my 9 year old- he had the spaghetti Amatriciana. Absolutely delicious, and not something you see everyday on menus! The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely. The prices are excellent for the portion size and quality- and I can't wait to go back and try other dishes! read more

A group of us went here with reservations and were seated at 3 adjacent tables and given limited menus. Each table had a different waitress. Our table ordered appetizers which were served in a reasonable amount of time . My husband and I enjoyed the crispy breaded mozzarella sticks and our friends had the charcuterie, which was ample and tasty. The first table was served their entrees before their salads. At the second table, some were served food and hat was not hot. Our table was still waiting for our entrees when everyone else was finished! I finally flagged down our waitress and asked her to check on our order, which she did, but when she reappeared she didn't come to tell us that he statistician of our food, but went to another table. By this time, the rest of our group was ready to leave. The manager appeared and apologized and said she would personally go to the kitchen and supervise our meal. A bit later, our waitress came over and said they were making our meal just then and apologized. And still we waited. Finally, after being seated an hour and a half earlier, our food arrived . My husband's food was not hot and my order was incorrect, but there was no way I I was going to send it back after waiting that long! By this time, the rest of our group left to free up the tables , so we ate hurriedly, paid the full price for our meals and left. I've never waited that long for food in a restaurant without being compensated In some way. A very disappointing evening. read more
