If it happens to be the Simple Simon's in Wagoner, you made a good choice! First of all did you know that this franchise started in Sand Springs, OK? Yep, 1987. They have hundreds of franchise locations, in small towns across several states. Locations, history and menu can be found online. Not cooking today. It is a muddy gloomy day at the camp ground. Wagoner is a short distance and a pizza brightens almost any day. The reviews on Google favored Simple Simon's in Wagoner over the competition. Nice, clean, roomy little restaurant, easy to find on the main drag going into town. We picked a large, thin crust sausage, with a one trip salad bar side. The pizza was a "simple," unpretentious pan of old school pizza parlor delight. The large, enough food for a meal today and tomorrow, at a small-town price. The one trip salad bar was another amazing bargain. It had a full variety of veggies, meats and dressings. An old-time salad bar spread that I haven't seen for years. The price $2.99. The plate was large, A skilled food stacker could make a filling meal in one trip. Delicious pizza and salad bar, a good variety of menu items, friendly staff, clean restaurant, value pricing, relaxing small-town ambiance. From my iPhone

When we walked in it wasn't really busy and we were seating quickly. The waiter was very friendly, professional and offered good recommendations. The ambiance was nice and a good place to sit and enjoy your company. We ordered the garlic knots to start with. They were good. I ordered the Italian Cobb salad. It is a very delicious salad and big enough to split with someone else. We ordered a 20 in pizza which was big. The slices are big. It was very good. I like thin pizza crust and that is exactly what it was. The sauce was good and had just enough with huge pepperoni slices and spicy Italian sausage. If you are ever in Tulsa this is a nice little pizza joint to have dinner at. They also have gelato, which I love but I was too full to enjoy one. It's also in a nice area to go have a walk after you eat with little shops around to visit.

We had to wait about 25 minutes to get our table. They did have a group of five people come in and got seated immediately in their outside dining area. We were not offered that option, so we were a little upset about that as we would've be seated in about 10 minutes vs 25 minutes. Our server was good, but hurried. Our drinks and pizza order was placed. Once our drinks were delivered, we noticed the syrup to carbonation ratio was off. We spoke to one of the managers and the situation was rectified immediately. Our pizza arrived and it was very good. The crust was real thick, but had a good chew and the ingredients were quality ones. We were kind of shell shocked that we had a large 3 topping pizza and sodas and it costs over $50. It's getting even crazier with these prices.

On a return visit things were just mediocre On our visit tonight, January 6, 2026, well it fell off the cliff! The pizza sauce was kind of bland, crust was ok, not really New York style and I'm originally from New Jersey. My daughter and grandson were using the parmesan cheese from the shaker, when she looked at her second piece she saw the cheese was moldy, she had already eaten one slice, as did my grandson. My daughter brought the shaker the young lady at the counter to look at the mold in the shaker, to which the young lady replied "oh, I just cleaned all them." When my daughter asked for a new slice, as we had two whole pizzas , she replied, we don't have any slices right now. One would think good customer service would make a new pizza and give her a slice, as the one she had, had moldy Parmesan cheese on it. My daughter then asked about another slice again and she finally offered a piece of white pizza, which was very garlicky. Now one would also think to check the other shakers at the other tables, right? Wrong! I checked three of the tables and found moldy shakers too. My wife brought them up to the counter and told the cashier, you might want to check the rest, so she did and brought them back into the kitchen. Probably won't be returning any time soon.

We ordered wine and beer, a limited selection but just fine in this welcoming atmosphere. The pizzas, and we ordered Smalls, were very generously topped, and not just thrown together. Gibson Lake's, Taylor's Ferry Beach, you need to find cool. The Pizza Port is your port of call, a haven of endless refrigerated air. My wife and I pulled up at the Pizza Port midafternoon. It is hot. I checked the batteries in my Life Alert, in case I went down from the heat on the trip to the front door of the restaurant. We jumped out and made a run for it. We are inside and it feels good! The Pizza Port is a safe harbor from the heat with magnificent air-conditioning! You can't eat in the heat. (However, outside dining on a cozy deck is available, if you are wet and smelly from camping.) We are cool; this feels good. Let's get some pizza. Keep it simple. Medium, thin crust sausage pizza for us. The medium is big. The large is about the size of a boat trailer tire. The pizza was flooded with waves of sausage and melted cheese. As I pulled a big slice from the pan the mooring ropes of Mozzarella stretched long to prevent the slice from drifting away. The first bite, the crispy bottom of the crust meets the top of your tongue. You know this pizza going to be good. Then comes the armada of flavor: fresh savory sausage, melted cheese and tomato sauce. This is a delicious loaded meaty pizza. The good kind of pizza, not that NY stuff. Plenty left over. We filled up the cargo hull of a cardboard to go box and left port with half of the remaining pizza. When we got home, I had to have one more slice before putting the leftovers in the refrigerator. After the pizza was served, the Pizza Port Harbor Master (the owner), dusted the flour off of his hands and came out from the gally to visit with us. A very nice guy, truly interested in providing good food and a pleasurable dining experience for his customers. He has an interesting business background. After years of managing his successful businesses in the Tulsa area, he sold them and moved to the lake. Obviously not to retire. His experience working with people and a familiarity with operating ovens probably made it and easy transition to dealing with the public and cooking pizza. Say hello to him if you get the opportunity. The Pizza Port is open for business. The best pizza between Wagoner and Tahlequah. Conveniently located near Sequoyah State Park and Tailors Ferry on Highway 51.
