    Our farmhouse kitchen!

Our remodeled kitchen came out even more spectacular than I was hoping - it's beautiful! From the professionalism of our project manager Eric, to the impressive craftsmanship of the various work crews, this was a wonderful experience and worth every penny. If you need any work done in your home - call MBK and be sure to ask for Eric and his team!

Can't say enough about MBK. Totally overdue but I remembered that I had to share my thoughts about my kitchen remodel.I have been planning this project for the last eight years but never had the courage or knowledge where to start.I did a random search and interviewed five contractors. It was stressful and time-consuming. MBK was the last contractor and I met Joey, He was very knowledgeable, friendly and super professional. After an hour in the meeting I felt very comfortable with him and his company. His price was competitive not different than all the other contractors I met with. After we signed the contract we started right away with design. He had great insights and ideas and I totally thought I knew what I wanted but he had great recommendations. He made a 3-D design for my kitchen that showed all the cabinets and the materials. We went shopping twice in person. He helped me find Products that I only had images that I found on the houzz and Pinterest. He was very strict about getting all the materials like appliances countertop sink and faucet Before we start the construction and he was so right about that. We started the job roughly 4 weeks after we did the paperwork. What I liked about Joey is he was a very straightforward about timelines and he prepared me for about eight weeks. The construction was generally smooth we had a few hiccups but they were addressed very fast with his project manager Mike that was super knowledgeable as well and friendly. Ultimately we finish in roughly 6 1/2 weeks and I was very happy with that. I Thought that a kitchen remodel Is a long stressful project but they made me feel comfortable and they were great on communication as well I have to mention that. I am already thinking about my master bathroom now that my kitchen is complete . I'm definitely going to call Joey soon. Anybody that's thinking about a remodel give them a try I had a great experience.

Drywall sprayed over walls that is not affected

The WORKMANSHIP was MEDIOCRE! Joey was our first contact and he sold us their service well, but was pretty much out of the picture once the contract was signed. Jeremiah was the contractor (we were told by a couple of their subcontractors that he's not even a contractor) that they assigned to do our kitchen remodel. The oversight was non existent as Jeremiah was hardly around to supervise the subcontractors. The nightmare with this remodel started when CalRock, the subcontractor that they hired was to square a previous arched frame. The previous arched frame was torn down and CalRock was to square it, but on the first attempt to frame it, they build an arch frame exactly what was just torn down. Of course it needed to be torn down. It took 5 attempts for them to get it right as their measurements were wrong each time until their 5th attempt with my husband supervising. Again, not sure if Jeremiah told them what needed to be done and given them the measurements. Also, CalRock did the drywall which feels and look like stucco. They had to get into my closet and in the laundry room to get into electrical wirings, so it also meant more drywall getting torn down and rebuild. They had drywall sprayed all over the walls, ceilings, doors and on the floor which they never bothered to clean or wipe down. My husband and I had to clean it up. They tried to fix the drywall, but they kept sending these 2 young kids (they looked under 18) who apparently did not know what they were doing to fix their own mistake. They used Hoang to do the painting. They painted on a Saturday and Jeremiah was going to be out of town. I told Jeremiah that I would supervise the painters and was told by Jeremiah, "they don't need to be supervised," so I didn't. I wished I did supervise! Hoang painters did not do any type of cleaning or prepping before they painted. They painted over debris and thick dust from the demo and from the drywall and never bothered to wipe anything down before painting. When we pointed it out that they painted over tile debris on the butler's shelves and on the window sills, they told us that it was the framing/drywall subcontractors to do the prepping and cleaning. After all the fiasco with those 2 subcontractors, Jeremiah also told us, "they are not my subcontractors, it''s Joey's.". They used Luma for the custom cabinets. There were visible black spots on the wood cabinets and we were told that it was "wood variations." I asked a woodworker who happened to be doing another work at our house what the black spots were and was told that the black spots were mold stains. The cabinets seams also were not caulked and there are visible spaces. The countertop people also used caulking that when I wiped down the counter at the seams, the caulking was not hard and was coming out like dried glue. When we pointed it out, the counter person was rude and said he used the right caulk. We also pointed out that the caulking at the tile seams were cracking in less than a month and his reply was that the crack was from all the other job that the other workers were doing. Other things in this job, materials such as pull baskets, shelves, finishing of crown molding put in without prior approval. Towards the end of the remodel, they replaced Jeremiah with Mike. Mike asked me and my husband, "how much can I pay you to not put a yelp review?" Mike also told us that Jeremiah had another job that was "going sideways." We were told by Joey when he was selling us their service and by Mike when he was trying to fix the mess that we will have a "perfect kitchen." Very far from "perfect" or acceptable workmanship from my expectation. We decided to cut our losses and end MBK service rather than having them come back and have them fix their substandard work as they made things worse every time they came back! Would not recommend this company even to my worse enemy!

    Before...

We just finished our 7th job with Joey Dahan, the owner of MBK ... which was to complete our main bathroom. As you can see, it's exquisite: the quality, attention to detail, the overall design ... what's not to like? Since we started working with Joey 7 years ago, he and his crew have (literally) remodeled our entire house, a project at a time; the kitchen, both bathrooms, living room, dining room, main bedroom, two offices (my wife and I both work from home), and a den. The first thing Joey always does is to ask what ideas we have, then he works with us to achieve our vision. But he's also a top-notch designer, and incorporates some things we never thought of. For instance, my office had a standard 8-foot ceiling, but after he was finished, it has a soaring ceiling that slants upwards to 15-feet. He literally raised the roof! We then took that idea into the bedroom and raised the roof there. What an amazing transformation. We were knocked out, and so is everyone who sees it! But honestly, the incredible quality of his work aside, the best thing about working with Joey is ... you get to work with Joey! He's a total mensch (Yiddish word for "a man of integrity and honor"). I can't think of a better description, or a better person to trust with your home. Of course MBK handles all the technical details at the highest level of quality, that's what a remodel company should do. But we've never met a nicer, kinder, more caring person in the business than Joey. And he's become a good friend. Why would you possibly want to work with anyone else?

Based on that storyline, they're refusing to take responsibility for the flooring damage. The windows were installed without permits. I brought in four independent inspections, including three licensed general contractors and one home inspector. All confirmed active water intrusion and pointed to the window installation as the likely source. Despite that, Forever Builders continues to deny, redirect, and avoid addressing the actual installation. The floors never had water intrusion before the remodel. The problem started after their work. Instead of owning it and fixing it, they've chosen to argue technicalities and wait for CSLB to force the issue. For a company that promotes itself as 5-star, this has been anything but. When serious defects surface, there's no urgency, no accountability, and no effort to stand behind the work. Just excuses. That is not 5-star service. That is not what integrity looks like.

Review Update (2026)…read more I am updating my original 5-star review from a few years ago. At the time, we were very happy with our kitchen remodel and the overall experience working with Creative Design & Build. The project turned out beautifully, which is why I originally left such a positive review. Over the years, however, I noticed that one section of the flooring felt slightly soft when walking on it. At first, it did not seem serious, so we continued to live with it. Recently, the problem became worse and a section of the floor began to noticeably sink when stepped on and eventually a few edges of the flooring broke. At that point, I became concerned that it could become a safety issue. Because we still had plenty of spare flooring boards left over from the project, I attempted to replace the affected board myself. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the new board to fit correctly due to the locking system, and I could not restore the original board either. I then contacted Creative Design & Build for assistance. One reason I reached out was because our original project manager, Oded, had told us that if we ever had any issues, we should contact the company. I left a voicemail and later received a return call from a staff member. After I explained the situation, she said she would check with management and get back to me. A few days later, I received a text message stating that the warranty had expired and that no repairs would be covered. This was disappointing because I had never been informed that there was a four-year warranty period, nor was I able to find any reference to such a limitation in our contract. When I asked for details regarding the warranty and whether they could recommend someone to repair the issue, I did not receive any further response. There were two other issues relating to electrical and plumbing, however we decided to live with that until we had a major problem we needed fixing. I still appreciate the work that was done on our remodel years ago, and our kitchen remains a space we enjoy. However, I have been disappointed by the lack of follow-up and support when a problem arose. My advice to future customers is to make sure all warranty terms, coverage details, and expiration dates are clearly documented and understood before signing a contract.
