For the uninitiated, Dudley Square is the busiest bus terminal in the MBTA system. It exclusively…read moreserves all buses, all of the time with multiple connections to nearby Ruggles station if you need the Orange Line. Service here is pretty frequent. The buses obviously have a much lower capacity than even Green line trains, so they can get pretty crammed during rush hour. However during off peak hours you rarely need to wait more than ten minutes for a bus to get you to your destination. The bus routes also overlap a lot, so there are usually multiple options to drop you within walking distance of a destination. The station its self has multiple signs to announce bus departures. Were you going to South Boston? Catch that 47 to Broadway, buddy. You want to hit Harvard square? Did you want to go through Allston on the 66? or up Mass Ave on the 1? Wherever you need to go, Dudley will connect to there pretty quickly. There are also a number of shops nearby. There is a Dunkin' Donuts if you need a quick snack, a fried chicken store, or Chinese restaurant right in the station. Sure, it is still outdoors, but you can grab your thing while still keeping an eye out for the bus. If you can go further afield, you can grab a quick bottle of wine for that party at the liquor store, last minute supplies at Walgreens, or hit any of the other small businesses right across the street. All of that is a clear win. It is not rail service, but service like this feels like that next best thing. That is great. Some reviews here go on to rate Dudley square as a neighborhood, and other bus riders. Sure, we can look at that. Like any transit hub, it attracts people with a lot of different agendas. Most of us just want to get from A to B. Some other folks at the station are beggars. Some are boisterously loud. Some are street canvassers. It is a public square, so any thing goes. However there is also a police station literally one block away. There are usually MBTA and Boston police parked right in the station, standing around in plain sight. While we might get annoyed with other riders, and they might be different forms of nuisances, this station is in no way unsafe. Just do your thing, and you will be home sooner than you know it.

For starters, it used to be the Orange Line with an elevated service much like those in NYC. It was shut down in 1987 and replaced with the Silver line in 2002. There are so many buses that run from here to other parts of the city within Boston and outside of Boston, like Cambridge and Somerville). I love that you can always connect to other buses from here too. The location isn't exactly the best in all of Boston but it is what it is, like other parts of major cities. At least it's in front of a Police Station -- perhaps that makes it safer? lol. I use this station fairly frequently and it's always interesting seeing different people here while I am trying to get to where I need to be.

I greatly enjoy this bus. I don't really have to ever take it except to go to the Burlington Mall…read more(which I do not like.) This bus goes from Cambridge, through Arlington, Winchester and Woburn before finally getting to Burlington. It's rather long, but I enjoy the ride to be honest.

We used the T several times throughout our trip and each trip was less than $2.80! From Fenway park to Copley to north station , we got on and off to venture the town . This is the bus line in my town, it works. I wish it had better hours for nights and weekends but…read moreunfortunately that ain't happening I guess. In the mornings it runs alright an estimated 30 minute interval for inbound time for 'rush hour' and then hour during the day and a maybe 30-40 minute run time for outbound from Oak Grove. Same with into Stoneham.. I wish the times were better it's like I can either get to work wicked early or barely make it just in time. Same for times leaving Oak Grove.. you miss one you're waiting 45 minutes. The route could get condensed in some spots but other than that it's pretty direct and takes an alright average for me of 15 minutes. All and all, I like that Stoneham has the T bus in general. Easy to get my Charlie Card, swipe in and figure out which side is inbound and which side is outbound. It was a brisk and cool night, I'm glad the train came swiftly. But if it were colder or wetter or a longer wait, it would have sucked in a big way. Orient Heights is a station on the Blue line between Wood Island and Suffolk downs.

It's an express bus, so for your LinkPass holders it's a little more expensive, but it's quicker than quick because it takes the pike instead of local roads. In fact.. it might be a leetle TOO quick (just a note for those that stand). But when I used to take it.. around 8:30AM.. there were usually enough seats and very few people had to stand. All business folk too. Dare I say it was always on time? Although the drivers sort of remind me of Lloyd the delivery guy from Scrubs. You know, the air drummer (that is.. trivia point.. one of the writers for Scrubs)? So imagine Lloyd driving a bus instead of a delivery truck/ambulance. Moving…read moreto a new apartment off of Comm Ave in September, I thought, hey, I'll save a little money by taking the B line to work every day. Probably one of the stupidest things I've ever done. This bus gets me from its first stop to Federal Street in under a half an hour, without the hassle of stopping at too many red lights, dealing with BU kids who have a state of the art fitness center yet can't be bothered to walk 100 extra feet to get to class, and people who smell like they haven't showered since the Reagan 80's. I have an extra half an hour in the morning to relax, an extra half an hour at night, and all for $30 a month extra. Well worth it. If you live within a mile of one of these express buses and you have to go downtown in the morning - this is the only way to travel. Pay the extra $30 - it will immediately improve the quality of your commute, and the quality of your life, and I stand by that statement.
