I had the pleasure of visiting this small out-of-the-way place last night. Some friends I haven't…read moreseen in close to a decade wanted to catch up and we decided to give this spot a try. Fantastic choice! The menu is very "urban hipster" vibes. Plenty of burgers, lots of fun appetizers, charcuterie, one of my friends has some dietary restrictions and they were easily able to accommodate her needs which made us all very happy. This spot has a great bar in the front, and a smaller bar in the rear of the place. Outdoor seating as well as covered seating. Plenty of shade as well which will serve their patrons nicely in the coming Texas summer months. This is also a dog friendly dining spot, plenty of people were there with some amazing canine companions (always ask before you pet a strangers pup, it's just polite and courteous. Almost no one says No!). Assuming you don't have a dog allergy, this will hopefully be a feature. There is a relatively new apartment complex across the street and I get the feeling a lot of the people stopping in were regulars who bring in their dogs during walkies and grab a bite before heading back home, but that is just pure conjecture on my part. Either way, it was a fun inviting atmosphere. The music was nice, not too loud for my old man ears to enjoy but still present enough to be part of the evening without being intrusive. Staff was very nice, helpful, friendly, etc. Everything one would expect from a fine Texas eatery. Lots of spicier options on the menu if you're into that, but by no means anything overpowering. My guess is the owner has stock in some jalapeno growers farm somewhere and the food is all the better for it! If you're in the area already or if you're thinking of branching out for a nice new burger spot, this place is great and I will be returning. I live nearby so it'll likely become part of the regular rotation for us in the coming months. We are spoiled for choice in this area when it comes to good burgers being close to Grumps, close to Kincaid's, and close to Tommy's up on Camp Bowie. But this place competes on good burgers and if you're looking for a fun hangout atmosphere, you'd be hard pressed to find better. Easily recommended! Give them a try, I don't think you'll regret it! Cheers!

After visiting last Sunday, I followed their social media and saw they were hosting a jazz band…read morethis week. I called a girlfriend and told her I'd found a new spot: wine, charcuterie boards, and live music. Sounded like a perfect evening. When we arrived, a young employee did her best to find the hostess and get us seated. After a few minutes, she honestly seemed more flustered than we were, she apologized and offered to seat us herself. We got settled, I ordered a margarita, and then I noticed a large dog roaming around. No leash, no owner in sight. (Later found out the owner owns the bar, the regulars are very familiar with the dog) I looked down at the menu, then looked back up, and the dog was literally face-to-face with me. We got up to leave immediately. A dog-friendly patio? Sure. That's completely fine. But allowing a dog to freely roam throughout both the outdoor patio and the covered upstairs area is baffling to me. (My last visit a dog was on the table, I assumed the young staff just didn't know how to approach the situation, but tonight shows this is how Hideaway operates day in and day out) When I explained my concern to the waitress, she said she understood and asked me to close out my tab for the one margarita I had just ordered and hadn't touched. No ma'am. I'd been there less than ten minutes, and for me, this crossed a line. Clearly, some guests enjoyed it. I saw people petting the dog and calling it over. Different preferences, and that's their choice. But mine is different. I won't be back, and if I recommend this place to anyone, it will come with a warning: dogs aren't just allowed here- they appear to have free rein of the space, whether that's on tabletops, near your food, or directly in your personal space, whether you want that interaction or not.

Great burgers and great place to go with family!…read more They have a really good jalapeño ketchup & margaritas and of course really good burgers and fries. Plenty of seating inside, staff is super friendly and helpful, big parking lot with plenty of parking. They also have free peanuts!

Location is on a corner, can be kinda tricky if you've never been here before--just something to be aware of. Immediately upon walking inside I knew I was in for a good burger, it smelled like a cookout. Checking the menu they have various burger options, but no set combos, so you have to "build your own". No problem. I had a standard single-patty cheeseburger and fries with a drink, total of $14...about the going rate these days. Food took a little bit to be delivered, but I knew it was being cooked fresh as I could see/hear it cooking while I was seated. Service was excellent, as I was asked if I needed my drink topped off or would like peanuts while I waited. For a counter-order location, I was impressed. Food arrived and it was time to eat. Burger is pretty good size for a single patty, and it was fantastic! Grilled perfectly, cheese was melted, fries were crispy and hot. Definitely one of the better burgers I've had in awhile...AND I'LL DEFINITELY BE BACK. Glad I gave Grumps a try today.

A nice lady greeted me at the cash register. My order was ready to go on time. There was a sign at the register stating that an order of sweet potato fries is smaller than an order of regular fries. I'm not sure why that is. Each order actually had the same amount of fries, but the fries were scant. The burgers are good size, but they were definitely lacking in flavor. They were OK, but for the price, I wish they had been tastier. Years ago, I tried this spot, so I was re-trying it. They are one of the few non-chain options nearby. At a colleague's recommendation, I tried this place for a late lunch at 4 in the afternoon…read more I was a little taken back to discover it was sorta like a honky-tonk bar. The bar menu had some pretty interesting original selections, none of which I could partake in, since I was working. A giddy lil server took my order of a cheese burger with extra cheese and asked if I wanted a side salad. When I agreed to replace it for the fries and chose blu cheese as my salad dressing, she asked if I wanted blu cheese crumbles. Again, I agreed to that too. In no time at all I got my burger and salad, which was fresh shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese with a side of blu cheese dressing and a side of blu cheese crumbles. I'd told her too late that my burger should be cooked medium, but it was fine. It arrive cooked slightly over medium. It wasn't Hopdaddys and definitely not Houston's, but pretty good. Here's why Chubbby's got fewer stars. When the bill arrived, I was noticed I was up charged for blue cheese crumbles and the side salad. I mentioned it to her when she came to pick up the payment and asked how my food was. Me: "While you made great suggestions, you failed to tell me there was an additional charge for the salad and crumbles" Her: "he he he, yeah" Then later I had a stomach ache all night long.
