I had a blow dry appointment for long hair. When I got there I asked the lady if I should do blow dry or curls since I have long straight hair. I told her my hair doesn't hold curls. She said clearly 'it will hold.' It took an hour and I was charged 65$. I left the place at 1 with dozen pins in my curls to hold them in place. I opened the pins at 2:30 and I got to the event at 3. Within those 30 mins my hair had maybe 2 curls left and within an hour my hair was completely straight. I didn't even have waves. It was extremely disappointing. I straighten hair at home. I when in to get a shaggy layered shoulder length cut. The hair cut was not what I wanted in the end. I have no idea what she did I am going to another salon to get it fixed. Red flag # 1 empty salon on Friday afternoon June 30 just before holiday weekend. Red flag # 2 she asked if I want my hair washed? I am old school a place where hair washing is standard before a cut. She began washing my hair with cold water. I am not a plant, I do not want to to spray water bottle my hair then cut. Red flag # 3 she said " I think I know what you want " after I showed her the picture of what I wanted. ( I just woke up from a nap, I should of left) Red flag # 4 " oh you want me to blow dry it ?" (after the cut). What I wanted to leave with wet hair? Red flag # 5 " oh you want me to style it ? I guess I could show you how to style it". Red flag #6 she never told me her name. She has braces and brown hair and scaring on her arm from star tattoo removal. Customers usually want wash, cut dry, and style if all of these services are charges separate tell the customer cus us old school peeps 50+ are just learing this is a the "new way". And giving me an attitude cus I do not know is beyond me. I did not even want to leave a 15% tip. I usually give 25%. She deserved zero. I've never had a haircut that left me in tears. I was so excited to try out MC because it's close to me and looked promising. My stylist washed my hair before my cut and come to find out there is an up charge for it... Which is so misleading. I brought in a picture of the cut I was lookin for and talked it out with the stylist, I felt we were on the same page. I wanted a longer bob and ended up with a bowl cut that was so much shorter than I wanted - I wanted to cry when I saw what the back looked like. To make matters worse I was charged $45 when I was only expecting $25... The woman who took my payment was kind enough to take off the charge for the wash, however I still felt very misled in their pricing. And, incredibly saddened by how my hair looks right now... I took my 7 year old sister to get her shampooed and straightened, and I couldn't be happier with the service here. The lady who did her hair was very gentle, but worked quickly. She did a good job with straightening her hair although once we got home we realized there was still as small section in the back that was left curly. This is not a place you should go to if you have curly hair! I have extremely curly hair and have the usual struggles when finding a decent hair salon. But I have never experienced anything this bad. I have spent a lot of time growing out my curls so I went in for a trim. My hair went down to my lower back when straightened. My hair was washed (in a rushed manner) and she began cutting my hair. Afterwards, she straightened my hair and probably realized it wasn't even so she cut off even more. My hair ended up being to my shoulders after it was straight! I should also mention my tangles were roughly dealt with, and I was burnt by the straightener. Im sure do they do a great job if your hair is naturally easy to deal with, and they were all kind, but I was extremely disappointed. read more

She completely ignored me, my appointment and didn't bother to apologize for having me sit and wait for 20 minutes. I eventually left and plan never to return. This is a very nice hair salon that has opened up close to the Aliana neighborhood in Richmond, TX. I was very impressed with the quality of the Aveda products used for hair color/ highlights. Unlike most products that tend to irritate my scalp, the Aveda line of products that they use here are very gentle and non-irritating. Overall, the staff was very accommodating when I requested an appointment for the next day and super friendly. The ladies are very knowledgeable and experienced. Deceptive pricing, great haircut. I was charged double what I was quoted! I called to get a quote on a haircut and shampoo. I was told $25 for the cut plus $8 for the shampoo. Or, I could do a cut + style which would include a shampoo for $40. I scheduled with the receptionist for a haircut + shampoo and came in an hour after that. When I arrived Gina met me and asked what I wanted, and replied a haircut and shampoo. I never asked to have my hair styled. After she washed and cut it, she said she likes to dry the hair to see what it looks like dry so she could finish the cut. I didn't think anything of it. When she was done, my hair looked amazing. I was very pleased with the work she did. Thank you Gina! However, when I checked out I was SHOCKED that my bill was $65! Carolina was the one checking me out, so I explained to her that I had only expected to pay $33. Instead of offering to adjust the bill or work with me, she defended the charge and said that not only should I be charged for the style, but that I had to be charged extra for medium length hair and a little extra for long hair. I didn't know what else to do but pay and leave. I was so sad this happened. I had been calling multiple hair studios for pricing because I am on a serious budget. I really wanted to get a cut and shampoo (as a new mom for the 3rd time I was wanting a little bit of pampering). Because Carolina used to do my hair when she worked at TGF in New Territory, I decided to bite the bullet and pay a bit more for a really nice cut at MC Hair Studio. I was wiling to pay $33. I WAS NOT wanting a $65 bill. If I had known I was going to be charged that much, I would have NEVER gone there.
