I so wanted to love this dentist! (It is close by my house so very convenient.... The dentist Dr Jim was my dentist. I went to this location for crowns, cleanings, & cavities. I kept thinking that maybe Dr Jim was having a bad day,... I was hoping that my next visit would be a much better experience. Sadly, each time I was there, He lacked professionalism beyond words. There were times that as I'm getting worked on, he had the dental assistant in tears. She "wasn't holding the tools right", or he snapped at her for not being fast enough, & there were times he grabbed her hand aggressively to put the tool where he wanted it. It was very awkward witnessing this as I'm laying back in the dentist chair, all of this going on above me just inches from my face. Not to mention, feeling embarrassed for the dental assistant. The work I had done also had me returning after my new crown fell off after only a few days. I finally changed dentists and am so glad I did! I know that the dental assistant no longer works there and I pray that she is working elsewhere, where she is being respected and appreciated! THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! read more

I have been coming to McAdory for 6-7 years. In the 12 years I have lived in Alabama, they do the best job cleaning teeth of any dentist I have been to in this state. My spouse is diabetic. He probably would not do well with COVID so I am cautious about being out in public and unwavering in wearing a mask The receptionist does not wear a mask. At first when the hygienist came to greet me, she was not wearing a mask. Once we got to the exam room, she put one on. The dentist wore a mask, but it eventually fell off his nose and he didn't put it back during the exam I will not return until after vaccinations are completed. I still believe they do a good job with my dental care, but they are not diligent enough with face coverings for me. read more

I have been using this clinic since they opened. Both dentists are well trained and very professional. They have gone above and beyond to assist me when I broke a tooth and had to be at a wedding. They were the dentists who figured out that I was grinding my teeth and had a splint made for me. I had complained about the same issue to my former dentist but nothing was done. Having a splint has helped with not only not grinding my teeth, but also with my headaches. This not only affects the way other people look at you, but it is detrimental to the way you see yourself. Dr. Hughes never made me feel like he was judging me or looking down at me. I had some really bad experiences with other dentists in the past, but from the first time I walked in, both he and the staff have always been nothing but kind and respectful, and they seem to genuinely care about the patients. I dont recommend this dentist. During a cleaning one of my teethe was broken. The person cleaning my teethe was so busy talking she didnt realize I was trying to let her know she was hurting me and she broke my toothe digging at a cavity. I had to pay to have the toothe pulled the following Monday. I was in so much pain. Then they have the nerve to bill me for a cleaning that I did t show up for about 6 months later. read more

I had an important procedure to be done on this doctors visit waited a week for the appointment because it was all they had . Had to have my newborn with me so I got to the appointment about 25 min early only to get his car seat and everything out get to the door and it's locked . No sign or anything just looks deserted. Now I'm thinking is this place closed down what has happened . I call the number on the door no answer . Then I thought maybe they are on lunch so I waited a while and what do you know two women show up one behind the other mask less ok . Next a group of maybe 5 people show up and walk in they are also mask less . My husband shows up to take my child and I'm discussing with him how uncomfortable I am going in because no one is wearing a mask . I walk in giving them the benefit of the doubt thinking surely the staff inside will be wearing a mask but no . Another one comes in and tells the receptionist that she's uncomfortable with all the people in the office with no mask , she explains that she's "generally 6 feet a part from everyone in the office " then tells the lady have a good day as she leaves I proceed to tell the receptionist the same thing I'm not comfortable the receptionist then gets and attitude and says that's fine it's your choice . This is the most unprofessional dentist my wife & I have ever visited. The entire staff left for lunch at the same time and locked the business up until their return. We were waiting on the sidewalk at 12:53 for a 1:00 p.m. appointment. Additionally, a dental assistant openly admitted to previously forging state documents in order to be allowed to work in a separate industry. And the dentist himself preferred to give more of his attention to his female assistants than to his patients. read more
