Picture of front of store of the worst customer service in Algonquin

Came into the McAlister Deli on Randall Road in Algonquin hoping to get a sandwich and soup. When I came in I knew what I wanted before I got there. I walked up to order and was not acknowledged by the staff working there. They kept walking past me. The final straw was a staff member getting something to drink right in front of me and then walking into the back. I asked if anyone was working the front and they just shrugged and walked away. I turned and walked out. Poor service. This is basic. Wait on your customer.

My first time being in McAllister deli, the menu looks really good. The service was great really clean place and the guy was really nice on waiting for me and my decisions on what I should get.

When I say we have been to this McAlister's Deli a lot, I mean, we have been to this McAlister's a lot. Until recently, we had McAlister's at least once a month since 2020. It's my daughter's favorite place. We have had our meals in the restaurant and we have done curb-side pick up. This is the one place that has never, ever gotten our order wrong. Everything is always hot and our order is complete. The food is very good and the portion sizes are excellent. My absolute favorite meal is the Rachel with horseradish Dijon added, a side of potato salad and a sweet tea. So yummy! The restaurant is always clean and the employees are always so nice!

Overall the service was great, tablets were clean, lots of sitting space, and the food came out in a decent amount of time. I tried the Savannah Chopped Salad that came with Seasoned grilled chicken, dried cranberries, Gorgonzola, honey roasted almonds, tomato and cucumber on mixed greens and the dressing was Sherry Shallot which complemented the salad very well. I also ordered a strawberry lemonade and a cup of country potato soup. Overall everything tasted great, and will definitely be back to try more items.

The food is great here! The hardest part for me is to pick what I want to eat cause there are so many great options! My husband ordered the chicken salad and I ordered the King Club Sandwich! The sandwich is perfect for a large appetite or to even split with someone! The Max and Cheese was hot, gooey, and delicious! The pasta was el dente and not mushy at all! A lot of the people sitting around us were eating the Large Spud and they looked delicious! So I will be back for sure to try that next ! The iced tea was yummy too, not bitter at all!

If you're looking for a spot with hearty sandwiches, soups, & salads- you must try McAlister's! Their menu is huge. There is a plethora of options, something for every taste and palate. They have a huge variety of fresh-made sandwiches, melts, wraps, salads, soups, and Spuds. The Spuds are absolutely enormous and easily feed two people. They don't skimp on the toppings. They also have a huge selection for the kids. Even the pickiest eater will find a favorite. I typically order the Half & Half. I do half a Reuben (small uncharge) with Chicken Tortilla Soup. I like doing the half and half as a full size sandwich is just too big for one person. They offer numerous combinations: half salad and soup, half sandwich and soup, etc. The Reuben is piled high with fresh and juicy corned beef and melty cheese. The perfectly-toasted rye bread is slathered with Thousand Island & Sauerkraut. They always do a great job with the sauce, always just right! The Chicken Tortilla Soup is another favorite. It has the perfect amount of flavor with a bold kick of heat. They serve it with tortilla chips- which I like to use for dipping. Another favorite is their Tomato Cucumber salad. It's a very small side, but it's my favorite. Juicy tomatoes. Onions. Crisp Cucumber in an Italian-style "dressing". I usually order 2-3 of them. As for their shareables, I have not tried them- so I cannot comment on that. Dessert wise, save the calories. I am not a fan of their dessert offerings and typically just skip it. The portions are large and the price is very reasonable. It's great delivered or eaten at the restaurant. It's a very popular place with kids and families. Delivery is always fast, fresh, and piping hot. Everything is packaged securely and I've never had them make a mistake on the order. They're a solid and reliable choice in our delivery lineup!

    Do they have good pickles?

I liked it quite a bit, but I am a pickle fan.

This place is hopping! It was a Saturday morning around…read more10:30am that I arrived. There had to be 15 customers that picked up or ordered in the eight minutes I was there. I ordered the Fox with a Twist for $10.49. I got a garlic bagel, I would try something different, probably everything or salt. I also kept the plain cream cheese and I would sub that next time. I really liked the turkey, there was a lot of it on the bagel. $10.50 is a lot for a bagel sized sandwich, but there was a lot of turkey. I enjoyed the bacon and pickled jalapeños. I could not taste the tomato but was glad it was there, but I was disappointed with the caramelized onions. There were not many, and they had almost no flavor. The sandwich also needed salt, something to draw out the flavor. I also got a French toast bagel for my son. It was served warm. That was $2.49. I heard about this deli because it was used for a catering event I went to. The bagels are delicious!!! The best around. The bagel hole idea is also clever, great snack for a catering tray. I would grab a bagel if I was in the area, but not sure I'll repeat the sandwich at that price point without a bit more punch of flavor.

The inside is small but cute with an ordering counter, to-go items, merch, etc. There isn't anywhere inside to sit and enjoy but bagels are nicely wrapped to carry out. While waiting for my order to be ready, the staff were hustling to keep up with taking orders, preparing food, and were constantly bringing out fresh bagels to refill flavors. I ordered The Basic B with crispy bacon, egg, and cheese on a Garlic Bagel. The bagel was extremely fresh and I could taste the garlic flavor infused into the bagel itself as well as the topping. The eggs were fluffy and the cheese added the perfect, melty flavor. My husband got the Everything bagel with Lox cream cheese. He said he could taste the fresh salmon flavor in the cream cheese and their everything bagel house seasoning had a good mix of flavor. Overall, I am so happy I finally got to try Elle's Bagels! This is clearly a neighborhood favorite as it was consistently busy when I visited. The pricing was very fair, everything was fresh, and staff were very kind/patient. Highly recommend coming out to give them a try!

They have good options to choose from when it comes to sandwiches and burgers. For this day I went with the Cuban sandwich, shoe string fries, sweet potatoes fries, and chicken strips. I place the order online and it says 25 - 30 mins ready for pick up. Sweet no problem as I had a grocery pick up order at Jewels. So about 25 mins passes and I arrive with my 2 year old daughter ready to pick up my food. The restaurant is inside the train station and it's a pretty cool setup. My daughter absolutely loved running around the place. I walk up to the cashier and tell them I'm here to pick up my order and the gentlemen tells me he hasn't even started my order yet and there was some issues going on in the kitchen. He said it's going to be another 10 mins before the food can be ready. Uh oh... I'm going to have to ding 1 star because this should have been updated that it's going to take a lot longer than expected. I wait the 10 mins and the food gets done and then I head home. Overall the food was good and as you can see from my pictures it's a not a traditional cuban sandwich but it was good, and I'd get it again. Fries were hot and crispy and my daughter enjoyed her chicken strips. Breaking Bread has always been a good alternative for grabbing lunch in Crystal Lake.

To start the wrap to filling ratio was perfection, not too much wrap to where it felt like i wasn't getting what i paid for and not an imbalance of a single filling inside, every bite tasted great and had every ingredient- LOVED IT! Onion rings were fried beautifully and battered perfectly- buttery and savory and just so so good each bite and fantastic portion, ate every one! My girlfriend ordered the Turkey Club and side of string fries. We ate off each others plates after discovering how each of our own food was literally the greatest thing we've had in a while lol. Turkey club had a refreshing taste and was so good especially loved the 3 pieces of deli bread! Shoe string fires were fried perfectly, not excess oil or salt and were hot and fresh, personally loved all the different lengths! Lastly and best of all, the hospitality!!! From start to finish of this meal the atmosphere was perfect, music not too loud ( awesome music taste btw ) air conditioning was nice, we came in and we were the only ones eating but still very nice. The older gentleman who took our order was funny, sweet, and attentive!!! really liked him and the other younger person with the green mohawk was also attentive and nice!! Side note that i liked, after ordering up at the front , i wasn't pressured to give a tip- i would have done it anyways but the added touch he just skipped over that for some reason stuck with me in a good way! Total was $35 ish with two drinks. All to say, COME EAT HERE AND SUPPORT A LOCAL BUSINESS!!!

No frills - just a simple ham and cheese sandwich on white bread to go. First, I ordered the individual macaroni and cheese on DoorDash, but didn't get it and they said they don't actually carry it and it's on the site because it's a corporate item and gave me a potato salad in its place which is $2 less than the mac-n-cheese. No one contacted me to let me know in advance and only explained it when I called asking for it. Second, they handed the dasher a Honey Baked Ham lunch box only, with no bag. She said the girl also messed this up and didn't bag it. It was left on my porch and when I went to get it, bugs were crawling on the box which they could easily get have gotten into. No one saw this and corrected her??!! Their response was that I needed to contact Doordash with the complaints. Third, about 30 minutes later when I went to eat the lunch, I noticed that the Broccoli Bliss salad was completely dry, so I called and spoke to the Mgr to ask what happened to the sauce and the Mgr again stated that the new girl forgot the sauce. The one good thing was the Classic Ham sandwich and the potato salad. They were still good as usual. Overall; the care taken to prepare and hand off this order was unacceptable. It was not the quality I've known them to have in the past. It's not acceptable to just blame a new person. If she is making significant mistakes, why not check for accuracy??!! Perhaps these are checks and balances to consider for future order quality. Thank you!
