Stopped in for a quick lunch on a Sunday at 11 am. This is a chain deli establishment. Food is a bit high priced most sandwiches in the 10 dollar plus range. I tried the ham and cheese melt and a side dish of potato salad. Cost around $11 dollars. Ham was ok a bit salty and a little greasy tasting. Bun was very bland and a bit too bready tasting. Swiss cheese was barely melted. The potato salad was ok the celery in it added a nice crunch. Overall an ok meal, sadly not as good as Panera but not as expensive either. read more

Filthy! 5:30 pm on a Monday evening and every table has dirty dishes. Only 3 couples in the whole place but can't find a clean table to sit at. Ordered extra sour cream for my Baked potato and only got 1. Potato was barely warm. So disappointed! read more

McAlister's has been one of my family's go to staples for quick meals. We go to alot of the locations. But today we went to the Ballwin location and the service was fair but when we got home I found out they bagged the hot foods in with the salads. Salads were a soggy mess. Stopped in for lunch today with my daughter. It was easy to order online and it was ready when we got there. She ordered a chicken salad. It looked really good and had a lot of chicken on it. She said it was pretty tasty. I ordered a bowl of the tortellini soup. It was OK. Just OK. Definitely not homemade. The restaurant was super busy. I have lived in Ballwin and used to truly enjoy my McAlisters experience for 25 years. I went to the Ballwin location today about 12:15 and only 4 tables had Patrons. I had a party of 4 in front of me at the counter and it still took me 20 minutes, with 2 lines, before my turn. Got my food in a reasonable time, but the wrap and grilled sandwiches were thrown together and fell apart on the way home. To the point, service took way too long and the quality and appearance of the food was inferior. I put in an order last night on June 12th at 8:30 pm. I did this through the McAlister's App, not door dash. My order was accepted and I got my confirmation text. I started my drive home, no food when I get there. I look at my phone and I have no updates. When I check the location of my food it says it will be delivered in 12 hours at 10:30 am!! My payment is pending, their app has no cancellation that I can see, and I called the customer service number and they don't come in until 9 am. The store doesn't even have an answering machine. I won't order from them or McAlister's again. I feel that I give the best customer service and that is what I expect. I was here at my worst and they came through with their great sandwiches, soups, salads, and BROOKIES (brownie + cookie). When I'm craving Panera and I'm not near one I can always count on McAlister's to provide a similar vibe and experience. Workers were compliant even when I was being difficult. I was disappointed today bc at THIS McAlister's....the vegetables on the "veggie sandwich" (I'm vegan & vegetarian) were little slivers of vegetables--slivers like the kind I cut off vegetables and toss into the garbage at home when I'm preparing a meal. I could hardly find a small mashed piece of avocado on the bread. Other McAlister's offer better product and aren't so skimpy with the few veggies on this sandwich. The employees are very nice. I walked in on the 4th of July when the restaurant was opening. The cleaning was so thorough that the staff was cleaning the tops of the partitions along with the tables and chairs. The bathroom was clean and well-stocked. It was a happy place to relax. The cashier was friendly and welcoming. As a woman was bringing out trays of cookies she was singing, and as the staff meeting was going on, I overhead the workers praising the manager for helping them. I feel bad but this location has taken a deep dive south. They are consistently out of products, like spuds. How can you be out of spuds at 11:30 on a sunday? The last time we went, we waited AN HOUR AND A HALF for our food. the staff is so nice and so helpful, but I cannot recommend this place. We have gone to them for years but it's just bad. We give businesses so much grace during covid but this one just can't seem to get it together. the tables and floors are always disgusting and the food is sub par. hope it gets better! we go to the fenton location now instead which is MUCH better. read more

Pre Covid this was one of my favorite places to have lunch. I think they have been hit like every other restaurant with not being able to get people to work. Online order was 20 minutes late from time it said would be ready, line to the door of people to order and while I was waiting for about 25 minutes I saw tables that hadn't received their food while I was there. Yesterday was my first visit to a McAlister's. I was impressed with the cleanliness, the ordering process and the friendliness of the teammates. Erin took my order: a bowl of autumn squash soup and water ($5.73). There were five soups available: autumn squash, broccoli cheddar, chicken tortilla, potato and French onion. The soup is either butternut or acorn squash, includes cinnamon, cardamom, rosemary and maple. There's a swirl of sour cream and roasted pecan bits on top. A teammate came by and replenished my water. That was kind. The soup was fabulous. Luxurious texture. Sour cream and pecans were a perfect addition. The taste was rich and squashy -- YUM!! read more

What can I say? I love McAlister's. I think I could drink the sweet tea until I get sick. Alas, my metabolism reminds me to just stick to the unsweet and some Splenda, but if you're blessed with a slender physique and a sweet tooth, go for it! My food favorites are the taco salad with veggie chili, the club (until I found out it was all the Weight Watchers points I was allotted in an entire day a few years back), and the rotel. I'm sure there are plenty of other fine items, but I love those, so I usually stick to them. The chili is hot but not burn your mouth off hot. Believe me - I am a total spicy weenie! I've been with many that enjoy the spuds - two giant taters shoved together and covered with a myriad of toppings. My husband usually goes the Italian or Rueben route and is generally pleased. Try the "Pick any Two" For about $9, I can get a yummy Savannah Chicken salad: grilled chicken atop spring mix with sweet almonds, feta cheese, tomatoes and cumcumer; PLUS a cup of vegetarian chilli, AND a sweet tea/diet coke...depending on my mood. YUM! The desserts...meh. All are cooked days..if not weeks in advance, so I'd save your $ for some FroYo. I tried a chocolate chip cookie a few weeks ago that almost cracked my new crown.
