Comfortable, cozy, and considerate Potbelly is the national sandwich chain that feels like the casual younger sibling of Type A Panera. Even Saturday mornings at Panera can feel like serious things are getting done with various couples hunched over documents or groups working on projects. Potbelly, with its early 20th century feel of oak furniture, pseudo-antique furnishings, and fun signs, is more casual and laid back. However, Potbelly is serious about providing top quality food. My T-K-Y (turkey and Swiss cheese) sandwich tasted more crafted, fresher and deli-like than Subway's. The whole wheat bread contained sunflower seeds, for example. After having a not so great experience at this location, I was contacted by manager Ashlee. From start to finish she handled the situation with respect, understanding, patience, kindness, and exceptional leadership. I expressed my concerns and not only did Ashlee actively listen, she responded with compassion and went above and beyond to correct the situation. She ensured that i felt the issue was resolved and even made sure my order that went wrong was made up for by offered a complimentary meal that had no expiration. She just told me to let her know when I was ready to come up there which was perfect for me since I was very busy getting ready to move!! it came in clutch when I needed it. Potbelly should ensure that Ashlee is a part of any kind of leadership training because I have not received this level of customer service in a long time, it should be praised. I personally think Ashlee needs to be recognized by her own leadership team for the exceptional handling of this particular customer experience. While you're at it, give that girl a RAISE!! She saved a customer for the company by correcting all mistakes made and making sure I was satisfied with the outcome. Meeting her in person after having only phone correspondence was lovely, she was warm and inviting and made me feel comfortable as soon as I walked in. We love this Potbelly Sandwich Shop in St. Charles MO. We stop in there every time we are in town. The sandwiches are always great no matter which one we get. The soup is amazing. And what about those baked fresh every day cookies?? Yum! I have to say that the staff is always wonderful. Every one of them. They are very friendly and helpful. The shop is always clean. The food was decent but the service is pretty much not existent. We were feeding 3 adults and 3 kids. Out of 6 meals, only 2 were made properly. The kids meals were missing sides, an "Avo Turkey" was missing the avocado, and one sandwich wasn't even cut. One of the people was just getting a Mac and cheese, but found out that Pot Belly's was out of it after waiting in line for 10 minutes. Pot Belly's isn't terrible, but it's not convenient if going in a group and ordering for children. Its counter set up requires you to speak with 3 different people about your order before finally paying. It would be efficient if any of those three people were in communication with each out. Go to Pot Belly's if you don't mind half-energy service and mid food with a causal self-seating sandwich place. read more

I first discovered Potbelly two weeks ago, and I am glad I did! The food is great. While the sandwiches are not as big as what you would get from a competing well-known sandwich shop, the flavor does help to make up for that. I have been to Potbelly three times already, and I have paid three different anounts for the EXACT SAME SANDWICH. This is very frustrating. The last time I was there, the employee behind the counter was a young guy who didn't seem to care all that much and just wanted to get me out the door...he charged me the most for my sandwich...in fact, the WRONG sandwich! When I said something, he apparently thought it was funny, and another girl helped refund my purchase. I only got 30-something cents back when it should have been in the neighborhood of 3 DOLLARS! I have reached out to customer service about this, and am confident they will help make it right. I mention these issues so that you can be aware going in, especially if it is your first time. Don't let my experiences dissuade you from going, though! The food really is great. I'm thinking I may need to order online for takeout so that I am charged the correct amount. The only problem is that it's not always practical or convenient to do that, but it is a solution...probably easier than expecting employees to know how to ring up your order correctly. read more

Turkey sandwich was fine, but nothing special. (I wouldn't make a special trip to seek out this restaurant.) Sandwiches are toasted. You can make your sandwich into a meal deal which includes chips and a drink. I was a little turned off by the fact that one of the young men kept sniffling while making our sandwiches. read more

Are used to really enjoy going to Potbelly. Today I was excited to go again because I had earned a free perk/free entrée. The guy at the register told me that included any size including the larger size. So that's what I ordered. When I got up to the register, the guy at the register was extremely rude and told me that that was not covered. He rolled his eyes and badly, threw it into the garbage. So I ordered a regular / original size instead. The guy making it thought I had ordered a skinny, and did not seem to believe me that I had ordered an original. So he rudely said I should address it with the guy at the register. I had to pull up my receipt to show him that I did indeed say original as it was even on my receipt. But they were treating me like I was the bad guy and we're being very rude. When I was very nice and only trying to get my free perk. This was the worst customer service I have encountered in a very long time, and now I do not want to go back to this location if that's how they treat their customers. read more

I visit Potbelly Sandwich Shop again for lunch at 1:30 pm on Sunday. There are only a few groups of consumers, so I could easily find a table for me. There is "Skinny Pair : $7.40", which we can choose any skinny sandwich with a salad or a soup as a side, so I ordered it and chose T-K-Y sandwich and chicken pot soup. The combination with T-K-Y, pepperoni, and mayo was great. Chicken pot soup was also delicious. Additionally, surprisingly, I got FREE drink!!! Why is it free??!! A clerk was so helpful and thoughtful. I am not so good at English, but he kindly repeated an explanation several times for me. I am grateful to his patience. Thank you very much. At a corner in the shop, there was live music by a person playing the guitar, and it was making the mood/atmosphere great. Thanks to him, I could relaxed and enjoyed lunch. I ordered a banana shake and a salad, Up Town, where they have apple, grapes, raisins, blue cheese, and so on in it. A staff was thoughtful, and she asked me if I can eat blue cheese or not when I ordered it. The salad was delicious. The shake is real fruit shake, and it was hand made. Wow! It's disheartening to see that there's nearly as many negative reviews as there are 4 and 5 star reviews. I must have been lucky because all of my visits have been positive. I noted that one reviewer didn't appreciate the heat of the peppers in your giardiniera but if they looked at the jar on display on the top of the counter they would have seen that it says "hot" on the jar. Anyway, I just wanted to say that all my experiences have been top notch from the order taker all the way to the cashier and especially the sandwiches I have ordered over the years since its been open and I have tried virtually all of them. Completely got my delivery order wrong from the sandwiches to the drinks. Unbelievable.

I ordered over $30 worth of sandwiches by delivery. They called me sometime later and said they didn't have a driver. I couldn't have time to pick it up. That was the whole reason why I ordered delivery. So I asked to cancel but they said they can't refund. So I ended up with paying over $30 without getting food or refund. This place made mistakes almost every time I get something from them. Watch out! I will never use them again. [Additional Note] After I posted the review above, next day they emailed me and it shows refund was processed. 90% of the charge was on gift card and the rest was on credit cart. They could refund to both gift card and credit card. Unfortunately, when I talked to the staff a few days before, they insisted three times that they cannot refund because part of the order was by gift card, so I threw away the gift card already so i can't get the refund anymore. But apparently there is a way to refund on gift card as well. So if someone else gets into this situation, you can probably reference this comment so you can get a refund if they don't have a driver or any missing items. read more

Our 15 minute (!) order process was very eventful. First employee announced he was at the end of his shift, so I guess that was the excuse for our order of 2 identical sandwiches - one hot, one cold - which he said out loud 2 times, but made both hot. And the middle man... seemed to not know hot to add sauces, or cut an avocado... but did a great job of putting our sandwiches into bags. It was the least we could expect, right? And employee number 3 had to go over and assist with making a salad. No one bothered to ask what size we wanted for sandwich or salad. So when we were asked what sizes of all the things were that were sitting right in front of the cashier, we said we weren't sure. I mean, come on! Can't you see the food right here? And the bonus experience was being given a small lunch bag sized bag to put a salad, and 2 sandwiches and soup into. Honestly, is it really that hard to train people to be sensible? So now I'm sitting here eating my "large" salad with 5 cubes of chicken on. If I would have ordered a small salad, would I get 2.5 cubes? read more

The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the smoothies/shakes were great. Customer service is terrible. I called in my order for 5 pm. The person taking my order was very unsure of himself. I ordered 4 sandwiches, 1 cup & 1 bowl of chili and 4 smoothies. My order was not ready at 5 like promised. When we got it home we were missing all the chili and 1 sandwich was not made correctly. I came here and got a broccoli cheddar soup and a sandwich. Don't remember which one. This was back in 2017 I believe. The day after that was my day in hell. I got food poisoning- was using the bathroom all damn day, throwing up... on top of that I had a migraine. I was severely dehydrated and fell to the floor on my bathroom. I was burning up- and it was DEFINITLEYU potbelly's- as the broccoli cheddar soup smell was.... apparent. Oh man... that was the worst day of my life. Can't get much worse. Both chocolate milks were over 10 days passed the Best Buy date for the kids meals. They didn't give the salad dressing for both salads. They didn't put the Swiss cheese in either salad also. Drove back and found out all their chocolate milk is expired so they couldn't replace it. They gave the salad dressing for the salads when I returned but gave the wrong dressing for one of the salads. I decided to use the ranch anyway and it tasted soured and very off so I couldn't eat it. Very disappointed. This is my favorite sub place hands down! This is my to go place especially after a hard workout! The menu has all sorts of choices from Beef, Chicken, Turkey, and veggie options for everyone to enjoy! This place has the best staff and customer service I have ever met! Every time I go there they are willing to go out of there way to make sure you have the best experience here which I always do! I always either get the chicken with cheddar, turkey with Swiss, roast beef, or Mediterranean on flat! They are all Phenomenal and I always look forward to going here! Anyone who enjoys a good deli sandwich has to try this place out and make sure to get Hot Peppers on your sandwich they are AMAZING!!!! I've attempted to order from this place twice for delivery which is an option on their website. However, the first time I was not informed there wasn't a delivery driver until after waiting over an hour. The second time I was called after immediately placing the order. However, why the delivery option if it's not really an option. I was told by the employee that I could use grubhub or doordash but I'd rather not.
