I decided to try McAlister's after being recommended to try their French dip sandwich and iced tea. Overall, the food here is good! They have a wide variety of sandwiches, soups, and baked potato spuds. The inside had plenty of seating and the restaurant was clean. The employees were very nice and helpful. There was a little bit of a wait for food but the food seems to be made fresh to order so I cannot complain. The French dip was tasty and the dipping broth was good. The iced tea was good but just tasted like normal iced tea to me. The only complaint that I have is the food is a bit pricy for what it is ($12.50 for 6 inch with chips) but overall I would eat here again! read more

The line was long and wasn't moving very fast but it was 12:30, so lunchtime. I ordered the chef salad and asked for avocado which cost an additional $1.75 but I wanted it so. After I sat at my table anxiously awaiting my salad I looked at it and it was just a garden salad with a few slivers and I mean slivers of avocado on it. I went back to the counter and got the attention of a lady and she asked the cooks for a bowl of ham and turkey. The salad was a mix of greens and baby spinach and the spinach was starting to turn that nasty dark color right before you throw it away. Hubby and I waited 1 hour for our food...when I asked one of the workers to check on the status of our order, she said she didn't see our name on the screen but since it is To-Go, they will just call our name. If our name isn't on the screen, how are they going to call our order? She just walked away and didn't bother to inform me of anything else. We eventually got our order but was told their system did not put a name to our order so it has been sitting on their counter for a while. They gave us 3 cookies to make up for the wait. Great food and a favorite is the southwest chicken sandwich. My issue is with the take out/pick-up system that requires you wait in the long line (used for ordering food) to grab your 20 minute ago order and pay for it. Now my food is cold! Not a good system-so I will need to find other places to eat to make it reasonable for my lunch time allowed. Request that they change the system to take a phone payment system in order to keep up with today's faced-paced world. Came here for a fast dinner before leaving town. Walking in the door, they didn't seem too busy but yet there were several tables not cleaned off. As soon as we approached the ordering counter we were immediately greeted with a friendly smile. The people behind the counter were all very friendly, nice, and helpful. We placed our order and went to sit down. I got the "Choose 2" with a half of their chili ole baked potato and half of their Savannah Cobb salad. It didn't take long and the food came out. The baked potato half was big. Could have made that my meal as I wasn't super hungry. The baked potato had chili, cheese and jalapenos on top. I felt the potato itself was a little dry even with the toppings mixed in. But good flavor. I was full after eating it and had to take the salad to go to eat the next day. Eating the salad the next day, it was good. Full of flavors: had dried cranberries, gorgonzola, sliced almonds, chicken, and a vinaigrette dressing. My niece got the broccoli cheddar soup which she said was delicious. My nephew got the kids potato plain with Doritos, which he displayed around the potato to make it look photo worthy. :) My sister got the chicken dumpling soup and sandwich from their choose two menu. My mom got their potato soup and McAlister club. She said both were good. Dad got their broccoli cheddar soup and the Spud Max half potato. Everyone enjoyed what they got. Two stars is being nice I admit that I have a vision problem and told the checker I could not see the board told me I had a free side with my sandwich I explained to Thai could not read the board with the sides so he read them to me. I really didn't want a side but settled on a salad since it was free. I got my sandwich it was average got the small salad. Then I checked the ticket my total was $17.02. Which I felt was too high for a sandwich and saw that they had charged me $2.99 for the small amount of lettuce. I asked for a manager. That was a MISTAKE a young girl came over I tried to explain to her busy self about my handicap and she told me "that's what is says on the board there was a $2.00 up charge that the cashier said was free. The older manager joined the girl and had the audacity to tell her not to worry about it I was being difficult having no knowledge of my vision disability. Come on girl he's just being ugly. Normally I love McAlisters. And I know times are ... weird ... with navigating the COVID situation. I was happy to see they had curbside pickup, rather than just the usual "walk-in". Unfortunately this location has no obvious signage of where to park/what to do for park for curbside pickup. When I went inside and asked, the girl at the counter gave me a less than pleasant attitude as if it was my fault that I couldn't see the small print sign on the side of the building away from the parking lot. Is it too much to ask for a sign that can be read from the car when driving past the storefront. read more

Best deli chain ever! I decided to remake Sir Mix A Lot's Big Butt song in honor of McAlister's Deli! I like amazing subs and I can not lie You other sub chains can't deny That when a customer walks in with an itty bitty taste And expectations in your face You get sprung And mess up the subs! Ordered for work and was very disappointed in the customer service. We placed a group order for a lunch recruiting meeting and as i ordered I got nothing but attitude and disrespect from the manager. I mentioned it was to go at the start of the order everything was boxed up and when asked if it can be bagged up she tossed me a bag and told me to do it myself. Disappointed with McAlister's Deli, tonite. I ordered to pickup (prepaid with the app) and when I got there my order was waiting on the counter, but I was supposed to get an iced tea as well. There were 3 people waiting in the To Go line ahead of me. All were voicing frustration before one of the order takers finally came over to help. After 10 minutes, I finally got my warm baked potato and cold nachos (remember this was to go). My mother's potato was almost warm by the time I got home. My "Ultimate Nachos" might have been alright if I'd gotten the hot chili I was supposed to get to pour over them, but as I found out when I got home, the chili was not in the sack. This is a great deli with endless menu options. I honestly can't think of a time when somebody in my party was disappointed with their meal. The customer service is outstanding. The manager came to our table and knelt to our level to ask each of us how are meals were. He also asked if we needed anything like refills. The staff is always helpful and kind. I had a turkey melt and wish I would have remembered to take a picture! I was too excited about eating it. Food is okay if they have anything in stock. That isn't our issue. The issue is the customer service. The customer service SUCKS! No hi can I help you, just looks at you and stares. No thank you, gets the drinks and sits them by the register, there is a plastic panel in front of the registers, they could have at least placed them where they can be reached. Then when I asked for the receipt, the person got it and acted like she had no arms, basically sat it on the register. This isn't the first time for this bad customer service, it is all the time. I would recommend the one in Jefferson City over this one. The only reason we stopped, is my son likes the pizza. Well they stopped the pizza for the kids meal. So now just a Mac and cheese for kids meal. This is my first ever survey at any restaurant, usually I side with the staff because of being under staffed here lately but that is not the case at this joint. UPDATE! Tonight I replied to a call from Lynette who happens to be the General Manager over the McAlisters in Columbia Missouri and I believe our area. She informed me she used to work at our nearest McAlister in Jefferson City and she said she had heard about what had happened and was disappointed in their Columbia stories failure to keep their customers happy. After a longe conversation about what had transpired she was genuinely sorry for what had happened. True it was only one or two people who were rude that day but she assured me they would be properly informed this was NOT in keeping with the Mcalister tradition of treating not just one but all customers. Lynette was very gracious and generous with what she called VIP vouchers for tea and meals which I truly appreciated and did not expect. All I really expected was the gallon of tea I felt I was due and for the rude people to be addressed but Lynette went ABOVE AND BEYOND A GALLON OF TEA FOR ME WITH A FREE GALLON OF TEA AND VIP VOICHERS TO SHOW US THEY COULD DO BETTER. Well Lynette, you already have done better in my mind and my wife and I appreciate your very generous gesture. We look forward to putting this whole incident behind us and building on your kind words and more than generous VIP gifts. I placed an order for a turkey sandwich and Mac and cheese for the side dish, and it took 23 minutes to get the order to my table. There have been times I have waited over half an hour for my meal. They claim to be fast casual, but the service is very slow. The Mac and cheese I had was dried and old. They didn't come around and asked for a refill on my tea like they have in the past. Had a good meal here in May, so I came back in July. That was a big mistake. I think my red St Louis Cardinals ball cap was mistaken for a MAGA hat because my avocado BLT was delivered to me smashed with finger indentations and my jalepeno baked potato did not have chili on it. I usually have a pretty good experience here, but today was a bit different! I went in at 8 o'clock with my boyfriend, and we ordered with a young cashier (teenager) which went fine! But, after waiting for 15 minutes, he came up to us to let us know that the sandwich one of us ordered was unavailable. I can definitely understand when ingredients are out, but 15 minutes later? He then was on his phone texting walking around the restaurant as he bused tables. After that, we left with our food only to get home to find half of it was missing! A different worker bagged up our food, after almost 30 minutes of waiting even though there was only one other table occupied. We called back to see what we could do, seeing that we were missing half of each of our meals and the man that bagged our food answered and basically told us to come get it or there was nothing left to do. We decided to go back and when we went in to get the food, they didn't even apologize! We are very frustrated because McAlisters is our go-to and it ended up making our night very inconvenient. read more

Have ordered via Orderup 4 times n thought Id give them one more chance. Just baked potatoes, and not one time have we gotten the butter and sour cream that is supposed in CV luded. Talked to the man as her, took her 3 minutes to come to the phone n she was useless. The store itself is very clean and the majority of employees I've interacted with on 5+ visits have been very nice. The sandwiches and mac n cheese are very good! The only reason I would give it 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because I've had my order mixed up a couple times, but the staff corrected the problem as soon as I pointed it out and were friendly about it.
