All in all our experience here was sub-par. I got a French dip and chips while my boyfriend got the King Club with mac and cheese. Aside from the chips, everything tasted frozen. The au jus clearly is not fresh, the roast beef had a very strange after taste that could be best described as freezer burn. As for the King club, the tomatoes were fresh but the rest of the sandwich was very bland and poorly put together. With KFC being so close we began to speculate that McAlister's may be in business of buying off their extra mac and cheese. With the pleasurable after taste of freezer burn to follow it as well. The customer service was not the best as it seemed the young man who took our order acted very impatient while we decided on what to order. Not to mention we paid $25 for two sandwiches, chips and some awful mac and cheese. In conclusion, I don't think we will be back. read more

Don't get the taco salad. It's not in a taco shell, but on a plate with some chips. I subbed out the chili for chicken and they charged $2.50. I asked for salsa and they said they didn't have any. Came out with no dressing and cold chicken. It was gross and $10. read more

I love a good corn-beef sandwich so I decided to try McAlisters. When I got there it wasn't crowded at all but after I ordered it became very crowded and it took about 15 minutes to get my order. The sandwich was not as tasty as what I'm use to getting in Chicago but it will do. read more

Walking in upon opening, the restaurant smelled sticky and unclean, like a used minivan. The McAlister's Club sandwich was pretty good and the Sweet Tea wasn't bad. The Fire-Roasted Veggie soup tasted generic and the bowl had soup spilled all over it (it's apparent they just dipped the bowl into the pot instead of using a ladle). What surprised me was the thumb-sized smear of guacamole on the edge of my plate (no part of my order had guacamole or avocado in it). The service was pleasant but seemingly hollow, and the restaurant displayed a less-than clean atmosphere. With the many delis in Columbus-Phenix City that put forth the effort, I won't be visiting McAlister's again. read more

First time visit to McAlister's. Wasn't quite sure what to expect, but was optimistic. It did remind me of Panera a little bit. The sandwich prices were comparable with Panera and Momma Goldberg. My lunch buddy ordered the baked ham and cheese and was told they were out of Swiss cheese. Really? He substituted with provolone and said the sandwich was good. He had the squash soup which he said was very good. I got the Pepper jack Turkey. It was pretty good. No complaints, but didn't wow me or anything. The best New Yorker I have ever had.They also have an amazing carrot cake. I use Yelp, it reminds me of room service in Ireland.

Came to eat here with my husband during his break. Pretty good spot especially for lunch. I got the Turkey Cobb. It was really good except the blue cheese that wasn't specified on the menu saying that was on it. I HATE blue cheese, however sandwich was so good I decided to not make a big deal out of it(that and the word Cobb usually makes you think blue cheese anyways I just wasn't thinkin when I ordered and went with what I read in the description). Ultimate nachos was yummy and so was the cheesecake(My husband tends to order up the whole menu when we go out). Definitely will come back here. read more

Food is great!! Sandwiches and salads are good. Careful this is very similar to panera but without the coffee!

Very good service ! Food gets out super quick! My favorite items are the French Dip and Swiss with Au Jus dipping sauce is AMAZING !! Another favorite is the Brocolli cheddar Bread Bowl. You get to eat your bowl when your done with the soup! Its more filling than you think ! Sweet tea is awesome and they got some great chocolate chip cookies ! read more

Great service and great food. Love the half n half deal. Nothing I don't like on the menu and the kid's menu is a plus. Something for everyone. I tried to give them a second chance and they screwed up even worse. They left a sandwich off got three of the four wrong and added one I didn't order. All that before I even got the food. At this location tonight to buy a gallon of tea (which they advertise). The girl working the register had to ring up everyone in line before she could get my tea. It should not take over 15 minutes to get a gallon of tea to go :( manager might want to rethink this. Standing here waiting while others that arrived much later have already been helped. read more

A very pleasant atmosphere, superb tea (sweet and unsweet), and very pleasant staff. I'm a regular there, and all the servers/managers know me by name and take time to say hello, etc. The food is good, and prices are pretty reasonable. Occasionally, the rest-rooms need some attention, but usually it's pretty clean. The relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, good food and great tea keep me coming back again and again. One note: my wife has a food intolerance (Gluten) and they have gone out of their way to help her regarding altering menu items for better variety and safety. Tonight was my last visit to McAlisters. The last time I went, the food was just ok. Tonight, it was terrible. My husband said the broccoli cheddar soup he ordered was bad. My potato soup came to me cold and the bread in both of our sandwiches tasted stale. read more

If not for prior experiences at this restaurant I would not return. There were more employees working than customers present so I really don't understand why the service was slow and the order incorrect. They were out of tortilla soup and from the two other choices, the fire-roasted vegetable soup was watery and almost absent of vegetables and the veggie chili was snuffy tasting with excess cumin. The sandwiches did not match their descriptions except in the most basic way, the club was a club and the southwest had a little southwest flavor. Many of those luscious sounding toppings were completely missing. In addition, I witnessed one employee eating with her hands while preparing cookies at the counter and another placed a box from the floor to the counter right under the server window. When asked about the curbside to go, I was discouraged from using it when two of the employees began complaining how the call center never got the orders right. Extremely disappointed in this establishment as once upon a time it was the place to go for great food! NOW the service is awful and food NO better than there service which says a lot!! When you order food you want want you order the first time NOT being charged for extra food that was never ordered which is what happened this evening to my family. They forgot the grilled cheese on the ticket and instead added a grilled sandwich so my husband had to go back up and order the grilled cheese again! And what deli does not carry sourdough bread? I don't like rye and not big on white which is what I ended up with. I had the Reuben and could not taste the thousand island dressing and could barely taste any sauerkraut, the meat tasted like the pressed meat you get from walmart and They messed up a basic half turkey sandwich AND INSTEAD gave my daughter ham with NO cheese this place is not recommended and is a waste of ones hard earned money. Definitely needs new management, new staff and overall people that care about what they are serving to the public. Huge disappointment when I was really looking forward to that Reuben. Being someone who never has enough time to go home and say mom whats for dinner, I love this place. I could eat McDonald's or Burger King 5 days a week as a student athlete with a job. I'm barely home but McAlister's Deli is a nice place I can trust when I don't want the greasy. They prepare the food in a reasonable amount of time and it isn't too overpriced. My favorite is the half soup half sandwich combo. I get country potato and grilled cheese. Their chili is great as well. Also if anyone is interested, I would fully recommend the pecanberry salad. It's great. Being a simple picky eater it's hard to find salad that I enjoy. This salad only comes with the lettuce, grilled chicken, blueberries, strawberries, and pecans. Dressing is optional. Any dressing is a choice, and you can add ingredients to it if you want more. Love going here and it's worth it. If you like Panera Bread and Atlanta Bread Company, you'll like McAlister's Deli, too. read more
