This place sucks! First off the staff is extremely friendly I will say that, but the food just isn't there at all especially for a place on the walk in downtown. My pastrami momma was soggy to the point where I just took the meat out. The potato soup was basically water with some seasoning and a piece of potato, yes one single piece of potato in the whole soup. The Caesar salad wrap had hardly anything in but lettuce hardly any chicken at all (I ended putting my pastrami in what my wife didn't want). Very disappointed. Went in for a pastrami sandwich. Chose the 'build your own' and added a combo, a $10 lunch had ONE slice of meat on it. One! You could barely see the meat between the cheese and bread. I'm not asking for a pound of pastrami, but for a $10 sandwich to only have one slice of meat is unacceptable. First if I could give zero stars I would!!! We tried Momma Goldberg's Deli for the first time and the experience was horrible. The employees all look upset and don't even greet you. Our food looked just like the employees look, sad and depressed. The bread on the Cuban sandwich seemed to be microwaved and the bread was hard and chewy with nothing but fat instead of meat. The grilled cheese had cheese that wasn't even melted. The employee claimed to have called our name but we didn't hear anything and our food was surrounded by flies as we approached the counter. They also forgot my salad and said we didn't get charged for one so we had to show our receipt to prove it. The girl making the salad seemed confused and annoyed when making my salad and the salad was a disappointment as well. Very disappointed, nothing about our food was enjoyable. I've eaten here many times in the past, although it's been years since the last time. I'm not normally a complainer but this was awful. The attitude of the staff was appalling. It was as if waiting on customers was a huge imposition on their time. At the register I was greeted with a deadpan stare. No words. No greeting. I ordered chips and a drink with my sandwich and wasn't given the chips or a cup. The person at the register was now having a conversation with a coworker and acted as if I were interrupting when I asked for them. I got an eye roll as I was handed my cup and chips. After waiting 25 minutes my name was called and I got my sandwich. I sat down at an outside table and looked at my food. I ordered the "Pastrama Momma". There was a large piece of fat hanging off. I lifted the bread so I could tear it off and found it was all fat. All of it. I took it back to the register and showed it to the person there and told her that I could not eat it. She said I couldn't get extra chicken on the Caesar. BS!! I'm the customer, if I want extra chicken on my salad, I better get extra chicken on my salad. But I just rolled with it. 2. The board said it was like $7.85(which I thought was a bit high, but I wanted a Caesar salad). The receipt says $9.88 not including tax. So I paid $10.67 for a shitty salad without extra chicken. If I ever pay $10 on a salad I want a damn whole rotisserie chicken to come with it. If you want a Caesar salad, go to Walmart. Buy a bag of romaine lettuce, Caesar salad dressing, Parmesan cheese, and a whole chicken. You can make like 10 for what you would get for 1 here. read more

I love Momma G's food. It is delicious and doesn't disappoint. Until yesterday :( I was extremely put off by the service.. I walked in at 2:30 to place my order, had been calling for 30mins to try and place my order, but no one ever answered. I was ordering for friends at work, but it's just 4 sandwiches all together. And it took them 10 mins just to take my order. And they couldn't even give me the receipt, something was wrong with their printer. I was handed by the cashier, the kitchen's receipt.. what am I doing with that? A receipt as in the printed with price on there?! So it took them another 5 minutes just to get me a receipt. And while they were working on that, I thought the other employee was working on my order. I thought wrong. Two other people order behind me, and guess what? They got their food first. That. Pissed me off even more. I work in the food industry, and normally don't like to bitch about places, unless I know how unacceptable it is. I also know there are strict rules about sanitation right now because of COVID. let's say, I would not eat here again. In the time I was there, I saw no one but one employee wearing a face mask. I've watch that employee grab the front of her mask (which is filled with germs) with her gloves, to talk, and then put the mask back on and go directly back to making ready to eat sandwiches. Talk about cross contamination. Oh. And then another employee WASHED her hands with the gloves on. With just water. No soap, for not even 5 seconds. And then went back to making food with the same gloves. Then another wiped something off the counter with her gloves on, and then without changing gloves, went back to making food. The whole time I was waiting for my food, no one changed their gloves, no one sanitized the counters, nothing. I don't know about you, but seeing that, I wouldn't want to eat there anymore. It did not feel clean to me at all. And lastly, while there's 4 people on shift, they were not about efficiency, they mentioned I could call ahead and order next time, and it'll be faster. I told them I've been calling for 30 mins before walking in, and all they said was, "oh our phone is f'd up. You can order online next time, it'll come straight to the kitchen printer" Is that suppose to help me or make it better for the experience this time? Unfortunately, there won't be an order ahead next time, which is really sad, because they're sandwiches were really good, but with the experience this time, and how little sanitation was taken seriously, I'm going miss eating here read more

Not impressed. I stood in Mama Goldbergs for 10 mins trying to figure out what I should order. This wasn't because everything sounded so great that I couldn't decide; it was because everything on the menu was so BLAH. The menu was uninspiring and didn't seem special at all. I ended up with Mommas Bambino and it was just okay. The deli meats and cheese were fine...but if you're going to do a sandwich, you really have to hit out of the park with the first bite! They call my name and I looked at the small basket with a handful of nacho cheese Doritos, some melted cheese, a sprinkling of jalapeños and the so-called chicken was virtually non-existent. Really disappointed in how the restaurant has declined since opening in Columbus. Food quality and the staff were anemic at best. The idea of a steamed sandwich in itself confers that it should be hot, not room temperature when served. Sent the sandwich back to be redone and not any better. Only positive note, which is the only justification for the one star, was the restaurant was reasonably clean.
