One of the worst dining experiences ever -- avoid this place! If I could give McAlister's Deli at Willowbrook in Houston zero stars, I would. We walked in well before closing time -- almost 30 minutes early -- and were completely unwelcome from the moment we stepped inside. No greeting, no basic courtesy. When we tried to sit down, one of the employees rudely told us we couldn't sit on the couch and to "go somewhere else." It wasn't even a request -- it was an order. Still, we stayed and placed a large order (7 items!) thinking we could just focus on the food and move on. But after I paid and wasted all that time ordering, they suddenly told us it was takeout only -- something they didn't bother to mention until after taking the order. To make it worse, the staff literally laughed at each other about it while we stood there, confused and humiliated. It was clear they just didn't want to deal with customers close to closing time. This kind of attitude is completely unprofessional and disrespectful. Hands down, this is the worst McAlister's I've ever been to. Absolutely would NOT recommend this location to anyone. McAlister's Deli is always a great choice for food! But some of the customer service in this particular location is lacking. I went there recently on a Sunday for lunch, and the young lady who waited on me at the counter was definitely not wanting to be there! She was not friendly and barely made eye contact. However, the young man who bussed our table was very polite and a good worker. I would just ask management to continue to work with employees behind the counter on their ability to provide polite customer service. read more

Well, let's just say nothing is like a Spud Potatoe at McAlister's Deli! So, I swung by to get myself one and had a nice conversation with the guy at the counter. But, let me tell you, I really like this location; it's cute! It's huge with the wood trim, a touch of moonlight yellow, and checker floors! I hadn't been to a McAlister's in over a decade (literally) and so when we happened upon one while out and about shopping, we decided to stop in for a quick light lunch. I always remember loving their spuds, but opted for the grilled chicken caesar wrap so I wouldn't go into a food coma. Food quality was good; nothing stellar since it is a deli, but it definitely hit the spot and came out fast. We were able to hang around and enjoy the conversation because the place wasn't so busy that it drove you insane, and the staff did a nice job of keeping the space clean and inviting. I went to order my normal sandwich and I asked for 4 small cookies (which I have gotten before from this location ) they just charged me for the price of a large cookie. Today the manager (Evelyn) told me that they are not allowed to sale any of the small cookies because it's not "policy". But I in fact always buy small cookies from this location w/o a problem. Also other locations even sale the small cookies in bags for $5. Her attitude towards not wanting to sale me the cookies was incredibly insane I mean it's cookies for crying out loud. I was willing to pay like I always do & have done the previous times. This should honestly be addressed , I shouldn't have been denied this request that's common at the other locations and even at this location depending on what manager is on duty. read more

I went here around 1pm when the lunch crowd was leaving. The wait time to order was minimal and there were plenty seating options. I ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad with Gorgonzola and Avocado. It was huge! Despite not wanting to be a glutton and eat it all....I ate every bit of it. Ingredients were fresh and flavorful. Total epic fail! I hadn't been to McAlister's in years and when I did decide to try them again, it was a big disappointment. I ordered their Club Wrap. I like it because it comes wrapped in a wheat wrap; I can't have the white bread or a white wrap due to medical reasons. They took it upon themselves to totally change my order. I received a poorly put together "something" in a stale brittle-like white burrito wrap. There was hardly any meat in it; they had even left out the bacon. It was full of pieces of cheese and lots of Spring Mix (I guest this made up for the lack of meat). Whoever threw this mess together didn't care. I really enjoyed this location. I've been to McAlister's before in another city, but it's never been my go to place. This one may be. I ordered the chicken salad salad and it was such a huge portion for just $7.99. What a great deal. I got their unsweet tea to pair it and it came in a huge cup for $2 something. Soup and sandwich joint. Good food at good prices. Hot sandwiches, clubs, spuds and salads. "Choose Two" is a great deal. I get the sandwich and soup, but you can also get two half-salads, sandwiches, or spuds if you like. It appears that the chain was started at Ole Miss, and the menu features regional cuisine with melted cheese, gravy, and muffulettas. Regular deli items are also offered. MDs menu and nutritional information are available online. We arrived at the Willowbrook location around 11:45 and the place was not busy. Shortly thereafter, the lunch crowd started coming in. I like gravy and do not enjoy dry food. I ordered a half of the "big nasty" sandwich...partly because of the name, but mostly because the roast beef sandwich came with gravy on top. It was delicious (although my wife thinks anything doused in gravy is gross). The cup of tortilla chicken soup that I ordered with the "choose two" was also tasty. A small portion of tortilla chips was included with the meal. Other Yelp reviews are right on about the tea at McAllister's. The unsweetened tea was very good. They do send folks around to offer drink refills, which I liked. Service was good, neither too quick nor too slow. Do yourself a favor and get a large sweet tea (you'll thank me, I promise). McAlister's is the perfect place for lunch. Great place for a quick great tasting lunch. I usually get the pick 2 for $6.99. You can choose half portions of a starter, salad, spud, sandwich or a cup of soup. I got half a Cobb Sandwich and a cup of broccoli cheese soup. I recommend the tea. Sweet or unsweetened it's a good cup of tea. Very friendly staff and well made and quick service. Lordy Lordy do they need some training on how to talk on the phone. Basic customer service skills are lacking. I called in an order for 5 - pick up. Not having been here since pre CO-VID, I asked specifically How does your pick up work? She told me there was designed parking places (no, just normal parking lot). I asked specifically for a receipt and even joked "of course ya'll will bring me a receipt" . Turns out - nope! Got the kitchen print-out but no receipt with prices. Later I called to ask for receipt. Gal answering phone had to have been the dishwasher. English was poor and dishes were rattling around (too loud for me to hear her). Then she gets another person on the phone. That gal had no manners or verbal skills "uh huh" 'hhmmm' 'wait a minute' instead of "yes" "let me see what I can do" or "please hold while I check into that"..... Managers - when you train someone explain to them why politeness and communication skills are important. Ever been to Chic Fil A? You can choose any half sandwich, soup, salad, half panini or half wrap. Unlimited refill on iced tea.
