Chicken salad sandwich to-go...but hardly any chicken salad, bummer.
    Cindy W.

UPDATE: July 1, 2020 Moving this review back from five stars down to four stars. I love this restaurant. I really want to love it even more. I have been to this restaurant twice in the past two weeks. Unfortunately, I have found that when you dine in, everything placed on the table looks great and tastes great. Unfortunately, on my second visit in the past two weeks, as well as several times in the past (feel free to read the past reviews)-- The to-go sandwiches just have no meat. There is not much substance to the sandwiches. When you do a choose 2, it really is supposed to be half a sandwich. Again, when I dine in the restaurant, I really do feel like I am given a half a sandwich (perhaps bc someone has to look at it when it's served on a plate?), but unfortunately, in my several to-go experiences, most of my sandwiches have looked like the below pictures (aka, no meat and no substance). It's disappointing and makes me not want to order sandwiches. It happens too often. I have seen employees double check to make sure orders are correct... But I am hoping extra concern is being placed with the substance of to-go orders leaving the restaurant (same price, same expectations). Again, I really want to love this restaurant so much, as it has been a favorite over the years. I just have had a lot of trouble with orders taken home. At least your potatoes are really good! _________ UPDATE: 1/24/2017 I am ranking this restaurant back to 5 stars. I have actually come to McAlister a couple times since my bad experience in December. I have been thoroughly impressed! Thank you to the manager for a few vouchers to come back and try it again. I am glad that I did! I have been treated so very well here. I have watched the employees check and double check my to go orders, and I have been greeted with a smile each time! I have attended when the restaurant has been very busy, usually during the lunch rush. The employees handled it really well. I am hoping that it will be the same, even when the restaurant is a bit slow. Kudos to Chris, an employee who answers the phone for to go orders in Mason. He is so positive and uplifting! He is the perfect welcome, as you call into the restaurant. I hope to continue to come back! UPDATE: 12/2017 Bummer! Changing from 5 stars to 4 stars. I debated going down to 3 or 3.5 stars, but I'm deciding to give them the benefit of the doubt and round up. I am hoping this was just a one time bad experience. I have actually not been to this restaurant in a couple months. I was craving a baked potato, so I stopped in to pick up a to-go order, as this has been a favorite place of mine for years. 1. The gal in front of me was not happy, as she watched the cook make her sandwich without wearing gloves while picking up his phone and playing with it in between cooking her order. Not cool. She demanded that he re-make her sandwich, and it was taken care of quietly. 2. I decided to try the turkey club, as I wanted an avocado. I got home, and there was no avocado on the sandwich. Bummer! Double checked the menu, and yep--it was suppose to have one! 3. I was craving a chocolate chip cookie, so I purchased one. I left the restaurant only to discover that once I bit into the cookie, it was so hard I could barely chew it! Boo. I am hoping that this was just a bad day. The restaurant was empty inside with the exception of one to two guests. I had to get someone's attention to get help, although I was apologized to for the wait once I had to go get someone to help me. It looked like the place was being run by 3 young kids. Not a problem--but I left disappointed. Please get this restaurant back up to par, as it's a family fav!

Terrible food, do not get the buffalo chicken nachos... no chicken dry. Ton of chips and nothing else. Save your 10.99

Sandwiches and salads were awesome but the chili was disgusting. My kids loves their giant cookies.

Or a plate of spaghetti with a variety of homemade Italian sauces. And homemade desserts including cheesecake, tiramisu and if the timing is right...Black & Whites! If any of the above is your thing, especially for my fellow refugees from the Northeast longing for a taste of home, get yourself here without delay. Tony the proprietor is the nicest guy and you can also call him ahead of time to place an order or discuss the dessert schedule. There's seating for about 10 or 12 people and my last visit was walk in and eat right there. About 8 minutes from time of order till the wonderful pizza was brought forth. Gaze upon those toppings. The sausage is excellent! The texture, taste, chewiness and foldability are absolutely perfect. Even my Ohioan friend was impressed. Can't wait for next time!

Yesterday we tried the Corner deli and we had a great experience. Tony was friendly and patient as we asked many questions. :). Very nice guy who knows how to make a very flavorful pizza. PLUS, They sell by the slice!! This was awesome for me because my family all likes a different topping setup. Due to this we almost always just get cheese pizza which we have grown to love and a good cheese pizza can be amazing but toppings are a nice change! Anyway, I got a piece of cheese pizza and a piece with meatball and onions. I enjoyed both a great deal. The meatball/onion combo are very flavorful and enhanced the cheese pizza a great deal.... Then I had the piece of cheese pizza and I have become boring and just love the simplicity of the cheese pizza and Tony makes a great slice of cheese pizza! Maybe get meatballs on the side next time is what I am thinking. We ordered the small salad and LOVED the Balsamic Vinaigrette (Tony mentioned it was homemade)... It was a fresh salad that we shared so it was cool that we could get the croutons and the cheese On the side.... Husband doesn't like them but I think they make the salad :) We had a very nice experience and I look forward to coming back and trying the gravy fries.

I ordered my usual, I tip every time, it's mostly self serve- but I was a barista so, I tip.... At any rate, I waited and waited (15min), my drink never came up. I calmly told the girl with brown curly hair that I never received my beverage- she snapped back- "I made this already" I again calmly said well, I never got it. She rolled her eyes, proceeded to make other orders as I stood there and then finally "remade" my drink. I told her, look, I come here weekly, I tip and I appreciate you remaking this. She stared at me blankly - I said, so, thank you... no response- I said again thank you? Still nothing... in the service industry and no common courtesy.... Disappointing

I couldn't taste much lavender flavor and the honey settled at the bottom of the cup, but the matcha itself was strong! I'd order it again, but maybe plain or with a simple syrup and stir before drinking. The pastry was delicious and I would order it again, although I wish it was hot! My friend ordered the Corn Cheese Donuts (came with 3) and an iced Tiramisu Latte. She thought the latte was good but a bit too milky for her taste. The corn donuts were fantastic! The outside/shell is a chewy texture and rolled in sugar, and the inside is hollow and filled with a corn cheese mixture--would definitely order again. The workers were nice and our drinks came out quickly. The interior of this location is nice and bright with many tables to hang out and chat, and some have outlets if you're looking for a place to work. Most of the bakery items (not the cakes though) are in self-serve pastry cases so you take a tray, wax paper, and tongs to grab whatever pastries you want before checking out at the counter, where you can order drinks as well. This is a great place to meet up with friends to catch up, or to grab a pastry and drink to go. I'm excited to try more of their selection!
