I have had good experiences at McAlister's Deli in the past, where the salads, sandwiches, and customer service were excellent. With that said, my wife asked me to drop by the McAlister's Deli in Missouri City, TX, and I experienced just the opposite.Last night on a to-go order, I ordered 1 large Pecan Salad, 2 small Southwest salads, 1 veggie sandwich, and 1 grilled sandwich. Unfortunately, the produce served to us was heavily spoiled. There were a number of discolored (black and red), slimy leaves inside both the sandwiches and the salads. My wife specifically noticed the slime on the leaves while we were eating, and the avocados were completely spoiled as well. The only reason I gave them a 2-star rating versus a 1-star rating is the fact that it was "Free Tea Thursday," and I was given 2 free teas. There were many customers that evening and the personnel appeared to be rushing. My recommendation would be to have a designated quality control person who checks food products and ingredients, particularly the salads, to prevent spoiled items from being served. This is especially critical to enforce in light of recent massive, multi-state outbreaks of cyclophorias across the USA. read more

Sometimes, the circumstances align and you try food from a place you've seen many times but never bothered to visit. That's McAlister's for me; I used to pass by the one near UH countless times without batting an eye. Fast forward 4 years after undergrad, and I'm attending my 5th virtual half-day interview in 2 weeks, face frozen on a forced smile... there's not much to do other than browse the "healthy" tab of Doordash.com with a 50% off promo code. Props on their delicious sandwiches. I generally avoid deli food since I've been served plain sandwiches at other places, but their Spicy Southwest Chicken and Grilled Chicken Club exceeded my expectations. Both were very flavorful! The salad is supposed to come with sliced grilled chicken, cranberry, tomatoes, cucumber, honey roasted almonds and Gorgonzola cheese on top of mixed greens and Sherry Shallot dressing. My salad did not arrive with the Gorgonzola cheese and they put some mixed shredded cheese on top. So I feel like that changed the flavor of the salad combination. This restaurant recently opened and I thought I would give them a try. I tried their sandwich named the Memphian! I'm a say the sandwich is awesome and well worth the money. Although, it is a bit pricey. This sandwich has so much going on inside that my mouth exploded and was overwhelmed with all the distinctly different flavors that blend well together. The sandwich is huge and I suggest if you get the large, have it cut into three separate pieces. No one should go hungry from this amount of food that's about 2 inches thick filled with meats. I will say, if I were to make a suggestion too their creative staff regarding this sandwich they should try sliced pickles inside the sandwich. Currently they only offer pickle spheres. I tried this at home with the sliced pickles and I can tell you it added another layer of flavor that I truly enjoyed. I love it when online orders are ready for pick up! Plus, there was no line in the drive thru up line. I gave my name, and in less than 1 minute, my order was in my hands. I did pick up my order way later than the promised time, so it was on me that it was cold when I got home. However, I had a wrap and a spud. Sorry I didn't take pictures because I was so famished when I got home that I devoured the wrap! The spud wasn't eaten until the next day, but it still tasted fresh. We came here for the first time with my husband on Sunday. I ordered the "Select 2" with a half Savannah Chopped Salad and half a BLT+A. My husband ordered the 6" French Dip sandwich with a side of Mac & Cheese. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with the portion size for the price, especially compared to similar chain restaurants. The food itself was well-prepared. The bacon in my BLT+A was very crispy. Service was really good. The people working the counter were friendly and attentive, and both the shift manager and one of the wait staff were asking people how they liked their food, which was a big plus in this kind of establishment. I purchase lunch today for the very first time. I was not impressed with the food at all. The meat on the sandwich felt like potted meat in my mouth. There was no texture to the chicken on the sandwich. I ordered a small cup of soup which was some type of crab chowder, and it was watery instead of creamy. I will never eat there again. Food is good- price is too high for sandwiches..buddy got a sandwich and bowl of chili, was just ok his bill for lunch was $30. Staff was nice, wait time not bad for busy lunch. Took longer in line than to get food. Atmosphere was relaxed and good vibe. Nice but pricey for a lunch. My order was sandwich and chips and a drink- 13$. I haven't eaten Mcalister's is a long time and I used to love the place. Service was good and the food came out really quick. My friend ordered nachos and they were awful. Canned wolf band chili would have been WAY better. I ordered the Italian sandwich that tasted good, not great. I purchased a side of macaroni and it was barely warm and had a gritty texture. Quality versus price was not worth my trip. I probably will not eat there again. read more

Since this is a new location I really wanted to give it a try. My husband came in to pick up food for me tonight. The service he received was good but the experience went down from there. I got the pick two soup and salad combo. My soup was less than a third full. Actually closer to a half. I got the cup of the potato soup so the cheese bacon bits on the top were almost nonexistent. With me going to different McAllister locations throughout the city this also the first time that my hot soup was put in the same counter is my salad. Don't know who decided that but who does that making my salad leaves a little welt. Also the dressing on the side was again only half full so good thing it was coming to the house where I have more dressing. For it to be a new establishment I will give it another try but I hope they get it together. read more

The pickup window is a joke. The window is supposed to be for online orders placed in advance. They allow people to order right before driving up to window and wait at the window for 10-15 minutes while their food is being prepared. Meanwhile, others who have ordered appropriately and arrived close to the pickup time have to sit and wait while their food is ready and getting cold. You can't even backup because usually the line builds and you're blocked in. If people arrive at the window well before pickup time, they should make them go inside or come back closer to pickup time. read more

I did an online order 30 minutes before coming to pick up my food get there sat at the drive thru window for about 15 minutes before I just decided to go in only to STILL have to wait for my food to be made. No one had a sense of urgency I stood at the counter had to ask someone about my order who passed by girl at counter looked mad, the young man who bought me my food seemed to be upset that I'm upset my 2 little items I bought took as long as it did. I used to come to McAlister's often, but I've been incredibly disappointed for the past few visits. My orders have taken way longer than I am willing to wait for food of this quality. I watched orders go right past me and every other patron who ordered in the restaurant, it feels like we got picked last to get the food we paid for. I would complain in-store but clearly, they are understaffed and don't have the time to deal with customer concerns. because I constantly see the same girl working at a busy counter along with a full line. Food is just okay at best. The place is new but the wait time for your order is ridiculous. If you go, plan to sit and eat inside. That's the only way you'll get your food within a reasonable amount of time. Don't even consider the curbside option. My order said it would be ready by 1:02. At 1:05 it wasn't ready so I was told to get back in the curbside line (basically a drive through window). 20 minutes later, still no food. I probably won't be coming back. read more
