This was my first time at a McAlister's and wasn't sure exactly what to expect. We walked in around 10:30 to grab some sandwiches before hitting the beach. The place reminded me of a Jason's Deli, with the sandwiches, potatoes and salads with sitdown server service. It was early enough that there was no one else there yet, but the service was still a bit slow. I ordered the Spicy Southwest Chicken Griller ($7.29) and was pleased with it. It consisted of grilled chicken chunks with avocado, poblano peppers, pepper jack cheese and a spicy ranch sauce. The sandwich had a good overall heat to it, and the avocado was a welcome addition to the sandwich to throw in a bit of coolness. It was served on a cibatta roll which wasn't too bready, like other chain deli ciabatta rolls I've had. The sandwich came with a side and I opted for the macaroni salad. I was not a fan of this, as it had waaaaay too much vinegar in it, so much that it over-powered all the other flavors. Definitely wish they went with a milder dressing/vinegarette for that salad. The missus went with The Veggie ($5.99.) For about six bucks she got lettuce, tomatoes, roasted red pepper and cheese on a pita with a Parmesan Peppercorn sauce. I felt that it was quite a bit for a simple vegetable sandwich. She enjoyed it enough, but it lacked some flavor since they failed to put the Parm Peppercorn sauce. She chose the fruit cup as a side and it was also terrible. The oranges were hard, the grapes were mushy and the honeydew had that nasty "not fresh" look, feel and taste to it. The sandwich and potato selection are promising, and I felt it had some better options available compared to a place like Jersey Mike or Subway. Unfortunately their side options are just not that great. I wouldn't be opposed to returning if we wanted to grab a quick sammy before going to the beach, but as far as sides go I would stick with the chips. read more

We have visited McAlisters since they came to Florence. In the past, although service has always been slow, the food has been worth a little inconvenience. However, tonight I ordered food online (which I have done many times before). I did this early enough that the default time to pick up the food was 5:15 but I didn't need the food until 5:45. I prepaid and arrived on time. The girl who came to the window was very friendly and said that the food would be right out. However, 25 minutes later (after knocking on the drive thru window to get someone's attention), the assistant manager finally brought the food to the window and said "here you go." No..."I'm sorry for your wait"...No..."I'm sorry that took so long." When we questioned the lateness, all she had to say was "we just got the order" (which isn't true because the receipt was printed for us when we arrived and it was time stamped 5:30). She began to argue with us and had no offer of any kind to make it right. She finally said "have a good day" and quickly closed the window on us (if the window could slam, it would have). Customer service these days is lacking everywhere, but McAlisters should be made aware of the service at this Florence location and how poorly it is managed (or assistant managed) should be reviewed. Unfortunately, a bad experience (along with prior negative experiences at this location) means we will never return. I am sure, with the attitude they have, they will not care....but it is important enough to me to share this with those who use reviews to make their dining decisions. I know I do. read more

Go here often, love their potatoes, club sandwich & chicken & dumplings. I have always had speedy & polite service, like the fact that they bring your food to the table unlike Paneras where you have to get it yourself. read more

They now have Gluten Free bread, making for excellent sandwiches! Their chili and potatoes continue to be another great gluten free choice. I come here for lunch often with friends. read more

If you have been to one McAlister's you have been to them all, you can mix and match sandwiches, soups and baked potatoes. We had to keep getting up to refill our drinks so the service after we got our food was not that great. read more

I'm a McAlister fan. Great salads. Can get very busy but still do a quick serve. I took away a star for the type of chicken they use. They use chicken strips on all of their chicken dishes. They have the BEST ice tea I ever had. Staff is always nice. read more

I order my sandwich with mayo on the side. I check, because this isn't the first time they have screwed up. So of course there is mustard on it. We bring it back and they take the top roll off and leave the sandwich with the mustard still on it. It's a sandwich it's not that difficult. I will not go back every time there is something wrong. Last time they didn't give us all the food we ordered. It's not cheap. read more

This used to be a good place. Went for lunch today and it is the second time the person taking my order acted like she was mad at the world. The fellow delivering my substandard sandwich wasn't much better. I think the management needs to have a little chat with the hired help who acts like we are doing them a favor by patronizing them. Bathroom was filthy. read more
