Let me start by saying that we love some McAlister's but definitely not this location. We put our order in and proceeded to wait more 35 minutes for food. It wasn't due to a lack of employees as we saw several standing around. When we walked in, we ordered right away. Honestly, I LOVED McAllister's in Louisiana, and I was thrilled to see there was one in the area when I moved here. They didn't disappoint. Other reviews have said the quality of food is sub-par and the pricing is high, but I think both are right in line with what you can expect from an upscale fast-food-type concept, similar to Panera, Corner Bakery or Jason's Deli, I usually get potato salad as a side, and I tend to get a Reuben or something similar, but when I've tried other sandwiches or gotten a potato or a soup, I've been pleased. Everything's fresh, portions are good, and the service is prompt. I ate in recently (I usually do to-go; I like to eat alone because I'm a weirdo), and an employee came around to check on the food and give me a refill on my drink. Only caveat with lunch? Because it's so close to Scott AFB, tons of AF folks come in for lunch. Expect a long line and a crowd between 11:30-12:30. They still seem to manage the rush well, though, and maintain good times on food. Wanna spend five bucks on lunch? McDonald's and their Dollar Menu are about a block down. Wanna spend five bucks more: McAllister's is worth it. read more

Can't say I agree with Sam L. I don't think the food is overpriced and I've never questioned the quality of the food here. I've had several different things here, the French Dip, Orange Cranberry Club, and a few of the giant spuds (and they are large). I thought all of those were pretty good and their French Dips is one of the better I've had in the area and I usually tend to stick with that since I know I will be getting a good sandwich. One of the things I like is that each sandwich comes with a side, and they have a few selections that you can choose from that include a healthier option of a cup of fruit. Their sweet tea is great, however I can't help but feel I'm doubling my caloric intake for the meal if I down one of those large sweet teas...or two because honestly who can just drink one? They have a rather large menu and I'm sure their other offering are just as good as the ones I've sampled, I just need to branch out and try them. If you like a good sandwich for a decent price, give McAllister's a try. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. read more

McAlisters! Oh we eat you sooo much. I think I've tried almost everything on the menu. My favorite things are their Italian Chopped Salad and the Horseradish Beef and Cheddar. It has a little zing with its zang. The cheddar cheese on top mellows that horseradish out. Perfect combination. I also like the Smokey Pepper Jack Turkey. I'm a spicier turkey lover. As far as sides? Oh their Mac and Cheese is sooo cheesy. I love it. Unless I'm "trying to diet" my inner fat girl gets this! They have different specials too. Military Mondays where I think it's 10% off and I know Thursdays kids eat free. One per adult. If your military in uniform you get a Free Sweet Tea. Been here over a dozen times, great wait staff and customer service; but this is McAllister's, so I'm rarely disappointed with any service from their business. The manager and assistant managers always go out of their way to come by and check on their customers and even remember frequent repeat visitors to just say, "Hi!". They've got a continual following from Scott AFB and involved in their catering for events in the area as well. This store delivers good service on time, everytime. Oh family first visited McAlister's Deli several years ago while driving through the area. Initially we intended to stop at a nearby restaurant that was very busy. We saw McAlister's Deli nearby and decided to get a meal. We were thoroughly impressed with the menu, the variety, the quality of each item we ordered, the size of the portions, and the friendly staff. We have made a point of stopping at McAlister's Deli nearly every time we drive through the area ever since. About a year ago a McAlister's Deli opened near our home to our delight. Last night we stayed in O'Fallen on our way to the Smokey Mountains. So we ate in at McAlister's Deli again last night. Got one of the chicken pasta dishes (think cheap frozen dinner) prefab tube noodles,"cheese" product, topped with tomatoes and what seemed like pre cook bacon...... Mostly I've had good experiences here, but when they're not, boy do they make me question going back. Tonight my husband picked up a to go order of a king club minus tomatoes and a kid's ham and cheese. What we received was a club on soggy white toast with tomatoes, and a grilled cheese sandwich which was strangely cold but crispy. Usually when picking up an order the cashier will open the containers to show you they are correct, but not today though I wish they had. I had the most awful experience with a pick up here today. I had my fiancé pick up an order I had made on the app. I ordered a choose two nacho and salad, choose two king club with broccoli and cheddar, kids turkey and cheese with chips, a brookie, a bowl of chicken and dumplings, and a sweet tea. When he brought the food home I was missing the rotel, the broccoli and cheddar, the chicken and dumplings, the chips for my kid and I got an unsweetened tea instead of a sweet one. I also had two chili's The girl checked my food in front of him so the fact that the majority of my order was not it the bag after it being checked in front of him makes it more ridiculous. I called up there and described the situation with the kid on the phone who said he was the manager. I sent my fiancé back up there to get the half of my food that was missing when he returned the bowl of chicken and dumplings had three dumplings and the rest was all chicken stock. I wasn't given napkins or silverware either. I worked at Mcalisters so I know how easy the job is. In the back you make the food according to ticket and place the order in the window, managers are usually supposed to check the tickets and bag the food accordingly. This is a simple job and a very easy job where it takes more work to mess it up than it does to do it properly. Being a manager you should have the skills to bag food right because if you can't manage to get all the orders together than how can you manage your staff or a business? The boy on the phone was polite and patient but it doesn't change the fact that I had to make two trips on an almost 40 dollar order. Pay attention to what you're doing. It's an easy job. read more

This is one place I would love to see in both my neighborhood and near work - anywhere in Chicago would be fantastic. I was in the area and remember having some yummy salads from McAlister's in other States, I was thrilled to see this one. The black cherry spinach salad with loads of greens, grilled chicken, gorgonzola cheese, candied pecans, dried cherries, onion, and a delicious cherry inspired dressing, really hit the spot. It is always dirty, not a clean table in the place & it's waaayyy past the lunch rush (3:00pm) so there is no excuse for the filth. You get to the front counter and the two RUDE girls need to finish their story about something funny on their phones before you get "what do you need" asked. No greetings or thank you just attitude like they're doing me a favor...15 minutes later we get our ice cold Ruben sandwich and soup. Edible cold!!! McAlister's has been around for awhile and I'm not sure why I never wanted to come here. Maybe it was because I thought this place was your basic ham and turkey sandwich type of joint. Boy I was wrong. The portions here are ridiculous! Especially for the spuds. I would highly recommend the spuds. If you order just the spuds it comes with two so be prepared to share or if you get a pick 2 you should be ok. I've tried the spud ole and angus spud. Both are good! But I'm also a baked potato gal! The soups here are terrible! I tried my husbands chicken and dumplings. Yuck. So bland along with the broccoli cheddar. I would not recommend any soups here. I'm a nacho fan and the nachos here are average. If there were more tops to even out the chips that would be awesome. We ended up throwing out so much naked chips. The horseradish sandwhich was ok, definitely can taste the horseradish. My husband would rather have it on a different type of bread. As a side he got the mashed potatoes which I tasted like boxed powdered. Yuck! The teas here are great!!! Plus free refills! Now I know why so many people rave about the tea here. Nice, clean location in a strip mall with a lot of great places to get shopping done including Target, World Market and many others. It seems to frequently hold fundraisers on a semi regular basis, so buying food can allow you to feel like you're giving to a good cause!
